I don't know if its very common, mostly because it is very unconventional and old people usually don't like change. In addition, i don't see them using signature campaigns to earn $7 a week.
Old people would not bother doing signature campaign for me, what we are talking here is old people are more ambitious and what they will do is investing and trading with bitcoin and maybe some good volume altcoins.
I do not believe that older people can benefit cryptocurrency services. It is simply impossible. Despite the fact that everyone needs money and everyone earns them as you can. Some work is real, the other on the Internet, but the elderly will not earn bitcoin as buying it.

My parents have probably not even worth talking about the existence of the world bitcoin. They probably will not understand what they want to say and how to explain.
My elderly living on a pension for retirement, and it is not always enough to buy medicines which are so necessary in the elderly, so do not think that they are interested in bitcoin.

Of course older people age at all will not use bitcoin, and it's not that they do not know about its existence, but the fact that they do not need. The fact that their needs are very small, on the basis of what they used to live. Age bitcoin users on my belief no more than 45 years.
Age does not matter. The main thing to know the information. And then every man for himself decides you need it or not myself. It's like a mobile phone, which was once a novelty and old rejected them as they could. And now the result of the other.

I wouldn't consider someone who's 45 as old people. It would have to be some like 60 and up. When I was younger, around 22, I remember considering someone who's 50 very old.
Perhaps 45 years is really a deadline have even heard of cryptocurrency. All older people do not understand what it was about.
I will soon be 40 years old and I can say recently learned of the existence of bitcoin and its power. But if you take for example my parents, they are not something that is not heard, they will not even be interested cryptocurrency. So really, after forty years, and this is an extreme lines today. But the future will prevail.

Age is not matter, cause bitcoins is also currency like dollar or other stuff...
Always, learning does not require age. It depends on the interest. Because of current generations continues innovations and new tech adaptions, changed more aged people's views and moves now. Many are adapting current culture which is really a surprise. Many elders do not tend to accept new cultural activities. But now a days it has changed a lot. It is really welcoming and nice to see them working with us.

While bitcoin is timeless I really think that a lot of the older folk are unable to understand bitcoin and may think of this as a fad

I'm 46 years old so a borderline coffin dodger.

Been into crypto for around 5 years  Smiley

had a mini GPU farm a few years ago too.

There was a study released by coinbase showing that most bitcoiner are between 22 and 35 but that still some people are younger than 22 and some are even 65! So I guess yes some old persons actually use btc, but clearly not the majority ^^

I don't know one, but that's not impossible that some with that age group are also investing/earning bitcoin. Mostly those tech-savvy people, maybe just not a member of this forum and/or not earning through signature campaign. Coindesk also had their survey last 2015 to know the average number of bitcoin user by age, and there were some recorded who are in between 45 and up. You can see the graph below:

I do think there must be some people above 45 years make bitcoins whether from signature campaign or make some investments.
we have the evidence above, so no more doubt of course
since bitcoin has many advantages that so useful for fast and anonymous transaction, its not just for person to person, some business and company using bitcoin as the currency.
I was almost 40 years old and I just now found out what Bitcoin and cryptocurrency. So I think, people with older age, not even heard of it. So I do not doubt that they will use bitcoin if he would be so popular.

yeah some older people are also earning bitcoin like anyone else, although I guess they would be a minority compared to how many of them use the internet generally.

so what? i dont get why you would be amazed by this, a 45 year old using bitcoin, big deal.  All early pioneers in the computing space would be over 45 Huh
yes i agree with you .. the pioneer of the computerized system was at the age of 45 years. age is not a barrier for someone to use bitcoin. initial capital to understand bitcoin is computer science.

We can't compare the average 45 year old with 1 in a million guy that has spent his life getting good and computers and technology.

The average 45 year old of today is never going to understand Bitcoin. Maybe they get to use it without understand it like most people. 60 yos are simply too old to get it, they will neither understand or use it.

I was walking down the street the other day and I seen some older guys playing chess int he park.  I sat down to watch this younger guy get schooled and when they were done playing, I realized they were playing for money!  Waiting for the next game, I watched the "movie style" bad guy money transfer look happen.  This old guy and the young guy used their phones to confirm the transfer of .05 bitcoin for the win of the game!!  Got to love technology.

Proof, or it didn't happen... Wink It's quite rare that casual chess players play for money.

When debating about "old people" earning / using bitcoin, we should first define what we mean with "old people". Age group 45+, age group 60+, or age group 80+? A lot of the comments throws these all together. In my opinion, the number of older people using Bitcoin is likely higher than commonly assumed. Reason is that they are less likely to participate in this forum due to other priorities (children, work) in their life.

On average, older people have a lot more capital at their disposal than younger people, because they worked more years. Therefore it is reasonable that if they invest in Bitcoin, they will invest a more significant amount than younger people.

In Eastern Europe, there are quite a lot of ppl who participate in different partner programs. This counts for those that use bitcoins, too. The main thing for this stuff is to implement an easy way to convert btc to fiat so that they can get their money easily and fast.
