RISE DEV TEAM UPDATE - JAN 15, 2017

Earlier last week we reported news about a proof of concept for Rise 2.0 nearing completion.
The latest is that the RISE developers now have this proof of concept successfully running
on their internal development servers with 3 Rise Delegates interfacing with each other.
This concept is an important stepping stone toward developing the full fledged Alpha Prototype
of the Rise 2.0 platform for which we will open up an Alpha Test Program.

Next up is the building out of the database models for these Rise Delegates. Our lead developer
reported that the team will commence testing block forging by the end of February.

We will keep you posted every step of the way. Thanks for tuning in.

The only reason why they....
Does anyone else just stop reading, when someone claims a reason, and its the only one according to them?
The almost mythical, "they" word, always stops me in my tracks also.

As you were.

lol. this project is totally scammy. The only reason why they don't wanna compete with lisk as you mentioned, is that they want to wait till lisk will do all the job, and they just copy paste the code. The only way the price will move is down..till 1 satoshi.. sad but true. sorry bagholders and icoinvestors.

dude...if the price drops to 1 satoshi I would be all over this coin..so would a ton of other people...and currently the new codebase + alpha testing is whats holding the rise price at what is currently is...there was no definitive information regarding when the said mentioned features will be released so I mean I guess the rise team is covering their backs so they don't set them selves up to fail if they do no meet the deadline...yeah so sure you maybe right...people might wait till the end of this month to dump rise

BigKush, RISE is no longer based on Lisk code, as announced a few months ago our Development Team is building a new code base from the ground up with a completely different technology stack than Lisk, and many other differences that I've listed a few posts back in this thread.

In that exact scenario, rise should get pumped quite nicely being it holds the same tech for 1/50th the cost Wink

I hope investors will eventually be able to recover their current losses.
The losses were so big that I'd suggest to award investors somehow, for example distribute coins or some tokens (like Waves do) to ICO accounts or to RISE accs where coins stay since summer.

Encouraging to see some price movement in the positive direction.  If this dev team can release something tangible soon it could move the price even more. I hope investors will eventually be able to recover their current losses.

Rise Team, can I run a node at this point?

Technically yes, you could install and run a node but at this point I wouldn't really recommend it because for the new upcoming Rise 2.0 code base the node software will be quite different. There is going to be an Alpha Program you can apply for soon if you want to be one of 15 testers we select from the community to test the Alpha Prototype of Rise 2.0. If selected you'll be among the first ones to run a node with the new software and try out the features. There will also be bounties given to those who help us find bugs.

can you tell me what you are smoking? must be good stuff  Grin

Hahahah only the best bro...lol oh well i guess alot of us are in it to see what happens...i guess the new codebase (or the any news/updates of it) is all that we have to look forward too

Why don't you disable forging rewards for your genesis delegates? Seems a bit unfair to inflate a coin that is currently being developed from scratch.

They keep the rewards and will dump onnus in the future, maybe bittrex delist rise very soon. Hilarious

Thank you for the response, and I apologize that this info could be found in past pages, but seeking those pages is very time consuming.

If you succeed, it looks as if lisk will have to transition to compete with rise, or simply cannot compete since your chain supports multiple languages.

But...  is it feasible for your team to produce this outcome of using multiple languages?
Would it not make sense to develop in 1 popular language and if successful, incorporate the others on a later date?

Why not directly compete against lisk by developing in javascript first? And then work towards the others?
It's not like lisk hasn't been struggling also, it's just that their team has large investors keeping the price propped up.

Personally, I think this project has the potential, and current prices make the risk/reward quite appealing.

I look forward to updates and a conservative roadmap.

The good news is that the brunt of the work for the support of multiple languages has already been done. Our team developed SDKs (Software Development Kits) for all five major code languages. They are currently in alpha status and for the new Rise 2.0 code base we are preserving compatibility with these SDKs. One of them (Rise SDK for C#) has already been successfully utilized by a Rise community developer to create a Windows Desktop wallet App.

The SDKs can be downloaded on Github: https://github.com/RiseVision

So from what I know, your team has the funds to develop and the tokens to provide incentive to do so, is there a new road map or an update on progress?

Hi Mr.Ease. Yes, there have been regular new updates on progress. You'll see them if you read back on this thread or head over to the official RISE Forum for all updates.

What are the timelines?
When can we expect a working chain capable of forging rewards?

As we announced a few days ago the devs are just about to finish work on the architecture of Rise 2.0. Expect a roadmap (without strict timelines) to be released some time after this is finished. You may or may not have missed the change of direction this project took a few months ago. We're no longer basing Rise on Lisk code but we decided to start designing and developing our own unique code base. The reasons for this decision were laid out in this blog post.

Because we are in the beginning stages of developing a working alpha prototype of the new architecture it's too early to give an ETA of the fully operational public beta and when forging rewards for the community will commence. We're releasing updates as we go.

Compared to lisk, how are you positioned to compete?

We position Rise as a crypto currency and distributed application platform heavily emphasizing security and ease of use. There are many areas in which the new Rise 2.0 code base differs from Lisk but the main difference is that we support multiple code languages from the get-go for developers to create dapps, smart contracts and token issuance in the language they are most comfortable with (i.e. JAVA, Python, C#, Ruby, JS). We also plan to provide easy to use 'drag-and-drop' style tools so everyone can build their own basic Rise dapps and smart contracts. Other differences are the use of a different technology stack for Rise 2.0 development , a different approach to configuring and employing different classes of nodes (CORE nodes and DELEGATE nodes), a projected higher network performance (up to 2000 TPS) and use of the latest SHA-3 encryption (with virtually unlimited message size) for greater security which also potentially offers hardening against future quantum decryption methods.

There are a few more technical differences, features and advantages that I can't mention until we finalize the architecture completely, but they will be published once that happens. Thank you for your questions and your interest in Rise.

The forging rewards will be put to good use as incentives and bounties for the Rise community and to stimulate use among developers to utilize Rise as a platform for Dapps/Smart Contracts/Token Issuances.
