Mmm.. is not that hard, but yes you need some Linux skills to maintain a vps node up and running 24/7

And yes is possible, if/when some delegates starts to run "pools" meaning if you vote for them (with your coins in your wallet) you will gain a stake according to your weight and this delegate/pool will reward all his voters accordingly. For example Lisk and Shift has delegates running as pools and you can earn coins voting for them.

cheap coins can sometimes burst all of a sudden and you always want to ride with it. i will wait for its dip and buy some, i'm almost sure it will drop down to 700-600 sats later. will just set a buy order on bittrex for it. i believe they do have a new team member.
