There is trouble abrewing

Obviously as an investor you understand there are risks but out of all the exchanges out there, i can think of 2-3 that I would personally trust with my money and in my case we are only talking about thousands, imagine a big player with millions using etherdelta or some other retarded exchange, no way that will ever happen. Even big exchanges like bittrex, not long ago, they fucked up and made everyone wait months and months to get your account enabled or verified. Why would any big player invest in crypto when the risk is so huge, there is literally zero safety, any exchange can run away with your money and you can barely do anything.

first of all bittrex never fucked up anything. they simply scammed a lot of their users, closed their accounts and stole their funds.

secondly this topic is the difference between an investor and a trader. a trader is someone who uses exchanges and needs to trust them, for them the "market" has to be regulated so that they can trust it easier and invest their money.
an investor however is someone who simply buys. for example someone who has been buying (accumulating) bitcoin for years without even using any exchanges! you can always meat face to face with someone and do the trade and it is pretty common to do it this way actually. for them "market" being regulated or not doesn't matter they just need to trust and believe in the technology.

Big investors are a big risk taker too but then they need security too. Being matured and regulated cryptoccurency attracts more investors and they are confident about their investment and they will know how well their risk and reward be properly managed. It is not all about maturity but it is all about security, bitcoin be it known that it is already mature in the market but still didn't have enough assurance on how seocure is your investment.

I think it can be trusted if a market with a very high level of security such as bittrex has a stringent verification system and has long existed for exchanges, all activities are at risk you should be aware of it if you do not want to lose your money then you have to withdraw every day if you play in trading but it is very troublesome in my opinion.

And that's what everyone fails to see: a regulated market will have the power to attract all kinds of fishes as long as the incentive remains present, in which case, is happening. No one privately owns the whole of bitcoin, so even in a regulated market, pumps and dumps will still happen no matter what happens or how strict exchanges can be. Most investors come in and play in the cryptomarket due to the volatility it offers and how crazy everything can go in a short span of time. Some are afraid to take risks because the cryptomarket isn't a regulated trading space yet, so it holds them back on getting that paper out of their wallet.

Its true about the volatility issue, well its not practically issue for most of them but an opportunity to earn money with it! However I do feel that there should be a market which will be pretty stable than the current one and thus can get many merchants, people, government services on board so that they can use it for the betterment of their own products and services as well as help bitcoin grow itself. This could be win win situation thus making it grow further and this is what a mature market would look like and provide the title that it will bring more and more big investors in the future. So at least some of them should take the risk and show the rest that bitcoin works just fine for them.

Agreed. However, the best regulation for the industry must come from within – made for the industry by the industry players. The cryptocurrency craze and the boom of Altcoins today is akin to the gold rush in California and Montana in the 1800s. And just as those gold mining communities set their social orders and fair commercial norms which attracted investors from around the world the Crypto industry should act likewise and self regulate.

It is true at some point. Many big investors see bitcoin as a huge risk. But i think they will still invest because they need not put their money in an exchange. You can stoee your bitcoins in a cold storage and let it sit there and waiyt for the last bitcoin to be mined and then price goes up due to high demand for bitcoin. Then your investment is worthy knowing you earned so much if you decide to sell it.

Once a man, twice a child!
This is quite true and the lack of this regulation in the crypto market is solely responsible for the so much distrust. The absence of regulation has also enabled so many scams both in the ICOs and the already traded coins that aren't regulated. Developers and their teams in so many cases have run away with public funds and ended up destroying fragile trusts in this budding market. So, it will make a lot of sense as a strong case for regulation so as to stabilize this industry like we already have in the stocks and Forex Trading.

Not at all times, there are also disadvantages in matured crypto market. For example, some matured crypro markets are centralized and only few coins can exchange. The problem dealing with the centralized and old exchange can change by a new existing one. More over, I think that there is a possibility that all exchanges can intercept or access by hackers. We cannot say that the millionaires are totally depend their investment in just one exchange that is capable to secure and protect their coins.
It is a decentralized world where anyone can decide to keep their funds in their wallet, but I understand most institutional investors may need a safe spot to always keep their funds and once in a while trade with it which is understandable and that is where the idea of regulation comes in and that would only leave some exchanges to be more trusted than the others.

all the above, a mature market would actually usher in a lot that would have gotten rid of the smaller players from the market which is what I feel we are about getting into pretty soon.

Hi,

I completely agree with you.

The point is that this market can get rid of regulation authority. This is why the biggest, traditionnal investors should never invest here. The idea isn't to turn bitcoin into another traditionnal currency. I understand that we need more and more people but the limit is... hard to make I think. Because if bitcoin is "overly" spreaded, well, it may turn into something completely useless, definitely gutted of its initial purpose.

Bitcoin is not supposed to be merely a digital currency. The idea was to create a whole new system, so why would we bother with traditionnal investors?

Well that is obvious, the only thing that is holding cryptocuurency market from evolving and attracting bigger investors is its nature, see cryptocuurency is unstable because it is not regulated, and not being regulated decentralized and uncontrollable is what makes it so unique and popular, if cryptocurrency was or gets regulated it will be as good as investing in real currencies like usd or euro and it wouldn't be as profitable as it is right now.

Yeah but, the point of cryptocurrencies is not to be volatile or profitable, the point of them is to be consistent and stable like normal currencies. Satoshi originally wanted bitcoin to be another currency, that's never going to happen if it stays volatile, no matter what.

But still, most investors love such a high volatile market and that's the reason for why cryptos attracted considerable volume of people despite lack of regulation.

I think we are starting to see the first wave of institutional involvement in this space.

Pension funds, college endowments and other asset managers control trillions of dollars of capital so once the flood gates open its going to cause prices to surge.

Here's an interesting article on this topic:

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/04/12/this-could-be-the-year-big-investors-such-as-endowments-finally-buy-into-cryptocurrencies.html

I would expect to see a large increase in institutional investment over the next 6-12 months.

As with any investment, you want to be invested before the whales jump in and cause prices to surge.

The bigger the Investors the more the acceptability and durability of the Cryptocurrency market.
The most important thing is that the market should become more resistant to volatility, and this is something we badly need in order to give people the incentive they need to finally start spending their coins.

Bitcoin will always be subject to more growth, but in the future the growth we'll be experiencing is steady and doesn't come and go in massive shock waves like how things have been last year till where we are right now.

If people at that point also get a part of their salary paid out in Bitcoin, they will have even more incentive to spend their coins, especially when merchants all over the world start adopting LN to allow fast and ultra cheap payments.

Professional capital brings in much needed liquidity, which is the way to a better form of stability, at least 1000 times better than what we have now.

I did accept this notion as the market becomes more stable, people who have been having doubts about the Cryptocurrency markets can now start gaining some level of confidence to step in and test the waters. As it now compares with the stock/financial markets that they already know. The bigger the Investors the more the acceptability and durability of the Cryptocurrency market.

I see people here talking about regulations as they're a bad thing for crypto and about decentralization. I won't say anything more about crypto regulations because they're, actually, good and I'm all for it. Now, let's be honest, decentralization probably won't be the future for the most cryptos. Bitcoin as the first one, went with the decentralization and as a currency, now we can see that that currency part is slowly going away.

As countries and private businesses are developing their own crypto, centralization of them is unavoidable. Tho, I just may be wrong.

Crypto regulations will help the crypto-market, period.

thanks for your concise reply shenzou... those state propagandists are so dumb...
Yeah people trust make crypto currency  stay and even more aggressive today because it is risky of course trusting any treading site which is no assurance of returns  but they still trustworthy because  they don't want to betrayed their investors.

I guess you are wrong that only mature and regulated crypto can attract investors. Knowing that there are emerging ICO and that is a better way to invest and it has a bigger chance of getting higher revenue. Talking about the risks in those ICO will also have a bigger return.

Regulated by what? Until now there is no final decision in some country about their side on cryptocurrency but I believe big investors will come if the project is good and a good example for this is bitcoin. Regulation may come later on but the situation will remain the same, we are still heading to the top.

All investors are aware about their investment they make sure that its secure because once they had invested in a bad project they cannot get back their money so they are looking for a matured and trusted project to invest with.
