Finally its time for the PSL 2024  Smiley

The PSL Draft for 2024 is finished, and the unbelievable things happened in this Draft. First of all, as you all know, Mohammad Amir left Karachi King, and when he left it other franchises wanted him, every franchise tried to pick him but Quetta Gallidator picked him and this is a very big deal, because since when PSL started Amir was playing for Karachi Kings and he led Karachi to trophy just one time, now we see Amir playing under Sarfraz captaincy once again after 2019 World Cup, by the way, he also doesn't played any international match after that World Cup.

Nowadays not everyone prefers IPL. The 2023 IPL season will last for 2.5 months, and there are talks to extend it further to 3 months. The workload is very high in IPL and a lot of the players get injured during the matches. PSL on the other hand lasts for one month and a lot of the overseas players prefer this league because of the lower workload. And another plus point is that the salaries in IPL are being made in Indian Rupees and taxed at a rate of 39%, while PSL salaries are being paid in USD and for overseas players I guess it is tax-free.
Now it's all depend on BCCI how they manage this all for the better future because if they will just go for money then surely this will kill the beauty of play and if they will try to manage this all with better idea surely they will have good money and players workload will be also in control, and they will also enjoy this all happily.
Yes, you are right. The key here is to improve the quality of play rather than money. If the quality of play is good then the money will naturally come. It is easy to create something new but it is very difficult to manage it under proper quality control. Although IPL has long been the top cricket premier league in the world. I think whatever decision they make, that will be definitely depends on the overall issues. Otherwise it will fail to maintain its reputation in the long run.

Yeah, I agree because of this workload and length I am giving IPL a copy of English Premier League where players having the highest salaries but their workload and number of matches are creating problems for the many players and now after this all many big stars love to enjoy their good time in other leagues like La Liga, Serie A and Bundesliga where salaries are comparably not like EPL but quality and time is good like EPL.

The BCCI is going for the kill. They want to expand the IPL time window from 2.5 months to 3 months. And I am sure that in the future they will add additional franchises as well. Last time the BCCI received a total of ₹12,715 crore for the two new franchises (Lucknow and Gujarat). It is easy money for them and in the near future I am sure that they will add more franchises to the league. Only a small part of this money ends up with the players. The highest paid cricketer in IPL is Sam Curran, who is contracted for ₹18.5 crore per year.

Bringing International players is not in PCB hand because it's their own choice which is not in control of anyone but still we have the good number of players those are enjoying here and many after giving their best here joining IPL on high prices as well.

I think PSL has been on a successful track and every year the tournament gains more popularity. However, the Pakistan cricket board should focus on getting more International players in PSL. We have seen limited numbers of International players and that is the reason PSL lack behind the IPL.

If PCB can manage to attract more International players, I am sure the league will become even more popular, however, they need to have enough money in order to do so.
There is no doubt every year things going into positive way for the PCB and PSL because viewership is increasing with media rights are also getting good increase but keep one thing in mind PSL or any other league never been going to compete with IPL because this is having one off the biggest cricket market in the world like EPL of England they are having much better viewership and other things which are helping them for ruling into cricket world with this all every league having its own benefits and negative points.

So, I have feeling like comparing them with each other is never been ideal things but still good now we have few good leagues which are helping cricket and players for having good experience and money as well in next few years if we have things better in this region then surely we will have good increase in revenue and other aspects of these few leagues which are currently small and have not enough fan base as well.

We still don't know how much revenues the PCB earned from this year's PSL. Last year (2022), they earned around $12 million in net profits and $111 million in net revenues. Ramiz Raja after the end of PSL7 announced that profits jumped by a massive 71%. This season should be even more profitable for the PCB, although we don't know about the numbers yet. During last season, 5 out of the 6 franchises were in profit. For this season, I guess all of the franchises may get into green. Global viewership is considerable, and it can only grow in the coming years.

Psl 8 have been s hige success interms of revenue and viewership and Pakistan cricket board can add new teams in upcoming league to grow .
Pakistan is a cricket loving country and people are diehard  fans of cricket   they would love to watch more games and as far as financial basis is concerned Pakistan can settle that as people of Pakistan are pretty good in terms of finances.

If countries join hands and form a league then it might give competence to the IPL. Maybe something like Asian league can be formed, and can be hosted in every participating country. This could increase the viewer base as well as popularise franchise cricket same as that we see football being played on the Western nations.

As of now Sri Lanka Premier League have got 7 teams. Bangladesh Premier League have got 7 teams. Afghanistan Premier League have got 5 teams and Everest Premier League have got 8 teams. Among this same player will be playing different leagues for different teams. Only in such occasion there arises problem.
This is a good suggestion. So we have 5 countries - Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Either they can have 2 teams each from these countries, or add one team and then can have additional teams from UAE, Oman and Saudi Arabia. The tournament can be either held in Super League format (group based), or a shorter Super Cup format (knockout only). That said, teams from different countries are involved and therefore deciding on the revenue sharing and hosting rights may be a bit tricky.
Adding six or seven countries are not going to happen realistically because we will have many problems foremost this will be needed very long period and right now we have not been spacing for the event which is having more than 45 days even IPL is now having too many teams and longest event which bringing problems for the players here just having few countries like Afghanistan, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be also good because Bangladesh most chances will be not joined this event as they are already doing good for their BPL even this is not bringing enough revenue but still they will not join anything which involved Pakistan like India.

Having teams from Oman, UAE and Saudi Arab is also not ideal situation for them because most these countries not have native players so in case of they will have few matches in these countries will be also good but having more teams will never been ideal.

PCB cannot afford to increase the duration of the tournament as players have also domestic and international commitments and they cannot spend all the time in these tournaments. Also if there is a conflict in date in the PSL and IPL, many international players will prefer to play in IPL as compared to PSL and for sure PCB won't want this to happen.

One suggestion is to increase the number of teams in PSL but schedule more than one match in a day at different venues. This may achieve the purpose of increasing the teams in PSL yet the duration of the tournament will remain the same.
As the players are contracted in different leagues, the organizing committee will have to keep in mind and have to make the match schedule. If the number of matches is increased then have to conduct multiple matches on the same day. But fixing the extra days of the contract will be a big inconvenience for them. If the matches can be extended by a few days according to the schedule of IPL, that may not be big problem. If the tournament can be completed a few days before the start of IPL, it can definitely be considered as a reliable decision.

Not only Pakistanis but all over the world love and prioritize cricket now, I think not only the audience in PSL but every team that participated in this league has gained some new experience. In all these matches one can uncover the variation in one's skills. And it is very easy to mark experienced players from these matches. And from all these matches the audience can enjoy an extra pleasure
This psl has proved that New talented boys can lift the game for their team and make them win . Pakistan has alot of talent in cricket and psl Is the best platform to explore and polish this talent to prepare them for international cricket.

This will surely help PCB in increasing its revenue as for them doors of IPL are closed at least for decade or more. Moreover this model will also help domestic players of Nepal and Afghanistan to get exposure of playing with international players, I am not counting Gulf countries players since they have a team that is carved out of expats. Such model will get popularity since all these countries have huge fan following of cricket.
IPL is biggest league but not all players have the privilege to join this league. If we have such side leagues then it will motivate players specially at domestic level to work hard to join this league.

Surely it'll gain popularity within few seasons. The oil rich countries will make grand arrangements. Maybe the opening ceremony and the opening matches can be conducted there. Another big thing, every country should have schedule that doesn't coincide. If not the international cricket gets disturbed. When it comes to revenue sharing, for each match they need to fix additional profit to be provided for the hosting team. If the cricket board form a meeting and discuss, surely things can be eased and made possible.

I have a wild suggestion after witnessing the grand success of this year's IPL. For this season, the viewership (both domestic and global), as well as revenues reached new records. Now Najam Sethi is planning to add two more teams to the competition. My suggestion is to add two teams from outside Pakistan. They can add one team each from Afghanistan and Nepal. These two are cricket crazy countries and it will transform PSL to an international competition. Rather than having franchise leagues based in each of the test nations, I think that it is much better to have a single league covering multiple countries.

There is no doubt now after 8 seasons things are looking better and revenue and other aspects are giving good positive sides, so I agreed with this suggestion here I want to add few more things currently Sri Lankan league is having some issues, so they can add two teams from there as well which will increase their fanbase and revenue as well with three or four countries leagues are regular in European countries, so they can also do things like this which will bring good changes in this region.

Even this all is not easy because right now situation is not good in Pakistan, and we have to wait for how things could be in next few weeks because political and economic problems are going at their highest level and many countries already give negative reply about help which was usual business in Pakistan for many years but now China and Saudi Arab are completely not near this so first just wait and watch how they will settle this all in near future.
Exactly, when economical and political situation in a country is unusual, it is difficult to plan well on any specific thing. As it is noticed that in the case of Pakistan, they will not be able to take any decision very well with PSL now as long as their country's instability is over. The political crisis and the economic crisis are greatly affecting it. So we should wait for the next few days.
