it is a really big step for crypto when a lot of companies and industries accept bitcoin as a payment method, I think we all heard the news about Amazon probably would accept bitcoin, but it turned out to be fake news, but if they did and they only accepted bitcoin I won't use it to buy small price things, fees will take a lot from everyone, accepting other cryptocurrencies is the best way to go, but maybe bitcoin will be just the first step.

I think that you might be able to get away just using regular network if you merchandise is not considered micro transaction, and i think there a lot of providers out there that provide crypto specific machines that are made to make paying easier by just scanning and depending on where you live it might be better than just paying a programmer to make an app that can have some flaws in it As the saying goes, no man is an island of knowledge, so I shared my story to get suggestions from this noble forum.

If what he's offering is available for redemption over the internet, I don't think the locale will play a big role on how well his bitcoin payment channel will be. And I would assume it will be over the internet since bitcoin works best over the internet anyway. Then again I might be wrong, and what OP may have in mind is some sort of over the counter payment method, much like credit card swiping.

so best that you will be open in other altcoins not just bitcoin because there are also alts that good for accepting as payment with speed movement and not affected by congestions in network so the fee is maintained lower than Bitcoin in which sometimes experience this huge transaction fees.
