Bullish on BitCoins

Perhaps if giveaway threads required claims to be off-site or "Twitter/FB/Website" based, it would have removed a lot of the problems.

You can do giveaways off-site and link to the giveaway page in a thread
That's what he said.

I'm sure those determined to annoy will keep doing it.

They can, they'll get banned for it though.

Point taken. I didn't read the "Most" in "Most giveaway threads". I was thinking it was "All"..

I had seen the "link to another page" when I read it, it just didn't sink in.

I think the rule makes sense, just think it would have made sense to give a 24 hour heads up or something. No reason to stir up a hornets nest.

Of course this is basically a den of thieves, with most of the worst of them in the Bitcoin sections - selling and trading BCT accounts , scamming on real transactions (instead of the fakey AltCoin ones)...

in the other thread you posted that those people who 'ANNOY' will be banned..... so being annoying wasn't against the rules, but now it is??? maybe that's the part that's confusing, because i didn't read that anywhere outside of you post

That was a response to this post, read the context, then you decide if I'm talking about people being annoying in general, or people who are being annoying by continuing to post giveaways.

I think the "reply with your address" spam bumped threads to the top of the "Unread posts since your last visit" and honestly it annoyed me.

It looks a bit more interesting now.

Perhaps if giveaway threads required claims to be off-site or "Twitter/FB/Website" based, it would have removed a lot of the problems.

The "reply with address" is just the laziest way to do it and the path of least resistance.

A sub-forum that is excluded from the unread posts or has solid rules (like "no rewarding board actions, including reply or post your address") would make sense.

I mean, what about the "Off-Topic" board? Or rewarding altcoin activity with Satoshis? I'm sure those determined to annoy will keep doing it.

We're not talking about trolls, we're talking about people who would intentionally and repeatedly break a clearly posted rule.

once again, if these people were CLEARLY breaking the rules, and weren't banned, then THAT is the problem... just as i said, the admin team let it slide and let it slide, and now it's gotten to the point where it is.... and NOW we are supposed to believe that people will actually begin to get banned??? what is that saying about an ounce of prevention and a pound of cure??

It wasn't against the rules before now, so they weren't breaking the rules. I don't see how this is confusing.

Well, that's a plus for me ( Personal gain ).
But I'm thinking about the community of this forum, I'm not an egoist.

Bitcoin is the parent of all the altcoins.  Why are you eating your young?  Put them in a nursery!

If people break the rules then ban them, don't cut off a key avenue for new entrants to the crypto-currency community.

the same people have been spamming since i joined, but NOW they have decided to ban people?Huh lmao ... if they had taken care of trolls for the past months it wouldn't have escalated to the point where they feel helpless to do anything so they overreact

I think it makes sense to have a subforum for giveaways, I think the suggestion to have it paid for is nice but I don't think the cost is an issue.

if any1 can explain why a subforum just for giveaways is a bad idea, im listening. keeps all the spam in one convenient place and still allows people with no mining hardware a chance to gain some coins and be part of the community.

after all this is bitcointalk not bitcoinminersonly.

a guy playtrading $5 of free coin can still easily expose a rich Mr. Moneybags to cryptos, we all win.

giveaways = $$$ for everyone Cheesy:D:D

How about this forum sucks?

How about they fix the search function?
How about they fix ''unwatch'' function?
How about they fix the bugs in the forum?

What's wrong with the search? None post-count section(s) could be a good idea.

I already suggested a non-post-count sub-section. They wouldn't have to moderate it. It would be free for all.
Every damn forum has a spam section.

I think if an alt coin section is allowed then there should be a giveaway subsection in there. The other option is to just get rid of the alt section all together.
