The Philippines has allowed land-based casinos to accept bets online, in a move that could help operators mitigate losses from the pandemic. Gaming stocks rose.

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. has approved the applications of Bloomberry Resorts Corp.’s Solaire Resort and Casino, City of Dreams Manila, and Okada Manila for betting through the Internet, president Alfredo Lim said in mobile-phone messages.

The Philippine government made some changes in response to the lockdown, as they approved land based casino's to accept online bet. I'm not really sure how this could be implemented though, but this is a good news for Filipino. I myself received a text message from one of them, City of Dreams, that their casino are already open and you can play and bring one companion. But I haven't try it though, I don't want to take risks, but it they allowed to accepts bets online then it will be good.

What are your thoughts on this?
So the government is now doing what is right ?things that they should have done earlier when the pandemic starts to cover the country and gamblers are eagerly wanted to continue their betting but has no option to do such.

But hope that gambling world in philippines will accept crypto as betting money than just fiat alone.

I think the Casino is very beneficial for the government, before I've heard a news in other country about making online casino legal to them and now a physical casino to accept online bet. The government really benefits from the casinos they needed to continue the revenue of their casinos maybe to help their community due to pandemic?

I think that would be really good since the casinos were going to function again which will the government will benefit in order to increase the economy.

Is there any news how are they going to implement it? I'm pretty sure there will be a KYC to it .
your happy that governments are going to take part of it again but arent you concerned more on the gamblers . gamblers are the first that are going to be happy with it because finally they can continue playing online but governments are also going to feel the same . its not about the greed and for personal gain but like you said this will help the economy to stand up again .

the poster arent sure if how the rest of it are going to work but since it was a formal casino they could have implement a kyc with it

This is much better rather than pushing your luck going outside and play to their casinos. Safety protocols aren't enough or can assure you that you won't get the virus if you would follow them because you might get it along the way or anywhere outside your home. So online betting is a good move, especially for those who are stereotype people.

The advantage of online betting also includes the convenience of gamblers who doesn't have any cars or motorcycle to ride to their physical casino since public vehicles is so hard to find because there are only limited numbers of them who could start to work again.

I'm hoping they will integrate crypto as a payment system, Philippines have no problem with crypto adoption, so I guess it would help to give an ease to the gamblers to do their thing, if they won't, I think we gamblers who are in the forum would prefer a crypto casino rather than our own.

I'm sure they will the Philippines is one of the Crypto friendly country, but things are not yet in placed, Cryptocurrency in the Philippines is a work in progress we already have a lot of local exchanges and converting and trading fiat to Crypto and buying is very easy here, we will soon have Crypto integrated and maybe the Philippoines will soon have their own popular Cryptocurrency gambling site.
It depends, because I think here in our country, there will still an issue about gambling, they prohibit online gambling as well, in fact when you read coins ph (our local wallet) they are not tolerating transferees coming from online gambling, also the tax is not yet fully implemented in casinos in here, that's why many senators are getting angry when it comes to gambling, but regarding to what OP said, I will play in online gambling site rather than going to cod and other casinos as well physically. Safety measure first.

Integrating a crypto-payment system in Philippine casino is a complex idea at the moment. People who are into gambling in the Philippines is not yet acquainted with cryptocurrency yet and it would take time for them to understand the workaround of cryptocurrency.

You own the pen

I don't think they are accepting bitcoin in casino's here, although we have coinsph here , but when it comes to gambling currently no crypto currencies are being use , they maybe aware because the price is volatile, but who knows maybe in 3-5 years we will be using bitcoin , but until then, philippine currency are being use.

Yeah! Casinos here are old school and they don't really adapt to the new level of betting because most of the time the players are not from this country like what we have seen in the news. most of the people who played casino here are Chinese. they came here to play because it has less policy than their own country and some of them don't even have some proper documents but still playing.

Very interesting news. But do you know if filipino casinos are allowed to accept Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies?
Do you know if they accept foreign customers too?

This is good news of course because this means the gamblers may now resume to do their thing. But if I am a person who enjoys playing casino games in an actual casino which is now closed due to the pandemic but suddenly informed that I may now resume playing in the casino but not physically on their land-based one but on an online one, I'd rather do it with a crypto casino.

Both are turning into online casinos. But the crypto casino has what is called provable fairness. It may not be present in a physical casino which offers betting online.
To be honest, when I saw that a number of gathering places were opened again, I was very worried because so far the Covid virus was still not completely finished and I was afraid that the Philippines would experience cases like America, which is experiencing a very high wave of spread again, maybe it could implement health protocols with strict. but if this gambling place is online then it doesn't matter because there is no direct contact with people around.

It hardly happens because the Philippines' population is much smaller than the USA's and the people in the USA are probably more complacent compared to the Philippines. Americans, as shown in the television, are seemingly indifferent to the virus. They continue to argue against basic health protocols. They continue to gather together and even travel for leisure.

Opening business establishments is necessary to make the economy working back. This includes casinos. But it is a welcome development that they are now catering online betting.

I'm sorry guys, but I can't answers all your question, but here are my opinion.

(1) they will have a separate structure to accept online betting, and these are the following websites:

(2) I don't see them accepting crypto for now, but who knows

(3) It's going to be open for those who have an existing membership card

(4) Maybe we need to download some apps to be able to play

(5) They are doing some dry run to accept players already, like COD (City of Dreams)

I think this move will benefit you as you are already a VIP member on one of these casino sites. It will also give you opportunity to bet even at the comfort of your home, just to avoid potential covid infection. This will also encourage their regular members to play on their casino via online. At least, they are also earning money from them. Not really safe to mingle with other people even if you are following health and safety protocols.

That means they would change their stance to not allow crypto used in gambling.
I'm gambling using crypto anyway despite of the restriction, I just make sure to not link my coins.ph account into a gambling site.

Adding crypto would give us an ease as we don't need to hide anymore, but most likely this news is to only generate funds from online gamblers outside the Philippines and they are only accepting fiat.

as part of the article, I'm quoting this;

Quote
The gaming regulator has been pushing to gradually reopen casinos after they were shut in March. Online casinos that only serve offshore markets and catering mostly to Chinese clients have also been hit by restrictions and a new tax on bets.

It is a good opportunity for many gamblers who do not want to take the risks,

Though some may see this as an opportunity for the government to take tax, it is fine since it is just the same as going in the casino and this will help for the sake of the economy. It is just a matter of how they handle their gambling site/app or if they are ready enough to migrate so sudden.

When there arelot of online gambling sites exist then I don't think this is going to be helpful for those land based casinos to make profits to make up for the pandemic period loss. And also there will be lot of complications with getting the results from the casino even it is possible to see everything in live.So its better to choose fair gambling sites for better convenience.

Why wouldn't it be good ?
It would help people keep the distance ! At the same time people would be able to place the bets without actually going to the place so they would increase their business opportunities.

- good for people
- good for the casino
- helps control the pandemic

This would also mean that many local casinos are going to get a good exposure. They might even get global audience if they give a good house edge and live shows.

*Tax opportunity*
- yes for sure ! It's tax opportunity for the government and a good business opportunity for the casinos. Therefore it is a win win situation for both parties , considering the taxation is humble.

Then a casino will also have to look carefully where they are located. If another storm comes, a casino can be completely wiped out. That was really hell for the Philippines last week.
I am curious if casinos got there (not online but physical casinos). That will really take a lot of time to rebuild something like this and the damage is then incalculable.
