I think the main reason the Philippines government has done this is to harvest more taxes. If they get taxes for every bet that is made, like an X percent of the amount of each bet, this is a great move for them.I doubt any government does such thing without second meanings and only to make its citizens happy.

Campaign Management?"Hhampuz" is the Man
It's too early to say as there are not much detail, still murky to say the least. But for Filipinos who loves to go to land based and can't because of the lockdown or doesn't want to take risk, then here is the answer to your prayers.
At least for a while they can do their habit in gambling as limited people are still allowed to enter each places.
and also this will lessen their time to spend while many are too far from casino houses in which located in the center of Metro.

I would say that this is good and has so many advantages and perhaps bring more money to those casinos so that they can continue to operate and survived and at the same time can bring tax to the government to continue to fight the economic downturn of the country. So it's a win-win situation.
Tax is the main objective here because the collection goes down since the pandemic happens and Operators of casinos are asking for this to be open and so they can generate more income and serves many gamblers same as paying high taxes.

The Philippines has allowed land-based casinos to accept bets online, in a move that could help operators mitigate losses from the pandemic. Gaming stocks rose.

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. has approved the applications of Bloomberry Resorts Corp.’s Solaire Resort and Casino, City of Dreams Manila, and Okada Manila for betting through the Internet, president Alfredo Lim said in mobile-phone messages.

The Philippine government made some changes in response to the lockdown, as they approved land based casino's to accept online bet. I'm not really sure how this could be implemented though, but this is a good news for Filipino. I myself received a text message from one of them, City of Dreams, that their casino are already open and you can play and bring one companion. But I haven't try it though, I don't want to take risks, but it they allowed to accepts bets online then it will be good.

What are your thoughts on this?
Then the next thing we want to have is Those casinos will also accept cryptocurrencies as the Online betting is allowable now?
Online Casino in the Philippines? Like for real in Phillippines? No wonder there are lots of gamblers in PH. Even in streets, sometimes you can see kids playing gambling like Kara krus, basketball ending and many more. The rich people in PH also plays gambling more than the average people and they are spending most of their time in casinos for fun and as their past time.
That is what gambling is all about Brother and you can't take it since we have grown in that same community,This is why Parents must be more active
and mobilizing their children away from the streets to prevent from becoming another gambler.

But this government decisions may save people from being infected and also to minimize the infections,
Yet this will also bring more active gambling and may have create more addict.

I don't request loans~
Tried looking up more info about it, only came across articles that literally had the same content. Still, this should be a good move, since casinos are one of the ones that would be hit the hardest due to the pandemic, not only with the quarantine period making them unable to have customers but also with the events prior to that, where people couldn't even leave their houses temporarily mostly due to prioritizing work. Rather I'd find it odd that they only did this now and not earlier tbh. Online gambling has always been a thing, and it seemed like we are actually quite behind in terms of that. Don't really have much experience with PH casinos though since I tend to play on crypto casinos instead.

This is a proactive move from the Philippine government. If the needs arises,  make some timely decision that can cater the actual needs. This is needed indeed to look more funds and revenues  to augment loses from this pandemic had brought. Looking forward for this booming industry that can attract more  investors and revenues for the government.

This is a great new. They have tried to adopt gambling in this Asian countrym. This movement certainly bring optimistic atmosphere to the gambling industry which is already stagnant during the pandemic. Many benefits are formed after accepting online bets. I guess people will soon shift from traditional casino to digital casino where contains more game and advanced techonologies. I can enjoy hundred of different games while a home with my personal computer without have any trouble

so land based casinos will be like the ones we have right here?
if so then, might be a good start to take some of their losses during the pandemic, but the question is, are these casinos are already ready to take this online betting?
Sounds risky especially if this is the first time ever they're accepting bets, as transactions can also have some issues.

I think this is good only for those rich gamblers, but for the poor ones I don't recommend this type of betting during pandemic. If I were to ask about being ready, Filipinos still in the midst of struggling economy and I guess they should only seek money for food and not for entertainment. Most gamblers only have the mindset of winning, and this time of health crisis there's more to prioritize instead of betting. Maybe in takes more years before online betting in ph would be implemented totally on different land based casinos.

Only somewhere as extreme as China bans their own companies from making profits to international customers surely, if they can serve tourists then why not all online customers also.   Seems like good news because more competition and availability is a positive for the customer in a wider marketplace open to them.     The main criticism is why it took them so long, another point why big governments are generally a horrible obstruction to profitable business; the health regulation is no problem in of itself but the lock on innovation to retail is the negative.

Not a big deal for me since implementing the online feature of certain land-based casinos is not a new idea.

Maybe I just want to know, what games are supported online by these land-based casinos? For sure it's not all of their games. It's not mentioned in the article.

Good question, I was under the impression, based on the article that somehow only sports betting are going to be accepted, this is just my opinion. How about those who want to play like slots or table games like baccarat or black jack. Because if what they are saying is that accepting bets online from a land base casino, then it should be the whole nine yards.

Very interesting news. But do you know if filipino casinos are allowed to accept Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies?
Do you know if they accept foreign customers too?

That's the way forward mate! Due to covid-19, the entire hospitality industry has come to a gruel halt which is costing millions of job losses. If the governments stay rigid on policy part, they will just kill the industry. Covid-19 isn't going anywhere soon so we need to ensure that we follow the rules to keep ourselves safe and sound. in view of this, Philippines government has taken the right decision which will definitely help the land based casinos to get some business. I am sure some land based casino will also invest in creating an online platform soon if the policy supports it! This will ensure their sustainability if not profitability!

This is really cool, at least they have adapted to the new normal where people don't have to go to their facilities personally.

I'm not really a casino type of guy but if those casinos in the Philippines would offer sports betting someday then i would gladly try even if they required KYC.

Need to adopt the current situation in order to generate additional income. And I think, this will be good for other gamblers as they don't have to go to the physical casinos just to place their bet. I believe this move is owed to the fact that very few people are now going to casinos for the fear that they will be infected. Sure, there are gamblers that are still going, but not the same number as before. Physical casinos need to think outside the box to survive these days. Won't be surprised if they will accept crypto also as payment method.

Those mentioned in the article are popular and gambling giants in the PH gambling industry. I will bet that before implementing online betting, they are well-prepared from basic to technical. I don't take this as risky.

The risky part for me is the source of funds for the customers. For example, the deposit option is thru banks. Some banks might flag transactions in gambling-related activities. And what if they also add GCash, Paymaya, Coins.ph as their deposit payment methods and knowing this popular payment system in PH, they have terms about using their platform for gambling.
