This is good for gamblers who want to gamble but still afraid of going to public places because of the fear of getting infected by the virus. I'm not really into land-based casinos and I've always been into online gambling but maybe, they can also attract online gamblers. Aside from that, land-based gamblers can also try online gambling. Let's wait and see how these casinos will implement online betting like how they will manage it, and if it will be really a nice idea for them.

I think the one who will try this are their rich regular gamblers who doesn't want to go out. Based on my observation, everything is starting to go back to normal, with all the safety precautions and such. People are going outside and some already feels safe even though we know it still isn't. Still a good program for them to regain there business slowly, with all the tax going in for the government to recover too, well those who will play online are those only who can afford gambling even during this time.

so gambling is legal in your country.
I am from Indonesia, and gambling (offline and online) is forbidden here.
however, I believe most Indonesian saw many ads regarding gambling every day.
even well-known local influencers promote gambling websites almost every day.

I hope your country will get advantages from that new provision.
also, for you guys in Philippines, you should try to be a gambling agent from crypto casinos that listed here  Grin
you can be a broker for that.

I think the main reason the Philippines government has done this is to harvest more taxes. If they get taxes for every bet that is made, like an X percent of the amount of each bet, this is a great move for them.I doubt any government does such thing without second meanings and only to make its citizens happy.
Well, actually that is the main thing why they allowed casinos to operate which is to generate tax from them. According to what I have read, 5% of franchise tax and 50% of the total gambling winnings, will be going to the national government.

Which I think is huge as tax.
It's really huge and for a country that is struggling with its budget they need to find a way to make it operational and this is one way to do it, they also allowed lotto outlet to open to generate more revenues, and since we are in a pandemic and people are looking for anything that can ease or find a way to make money and the government knows it, so lotto is one of the ways that the government opened to generate funds.

The Philippine government made some changes in response to the lockdown, as they approved land based casino's to accept online bet. I'm not really sure how this could be implemented though, but this is a good news for Filipino. I myself received a text message from one of them, City of Dreams, that their casino are already open and you can play and bring one companion. But I haven't try it though, I don't want to take risks, but it they allowed to accepts bets online then it will be good.

What are your thoughts on this?

If this means that they would make a platform that would migrate their physical casinos to an online one, or just a betting receiver platform, then I guess it would be interesting to try it out. Yet, the huge problem that they might face (both us - Filipinos, and the management of such casinos) is how would they implement KYC. Many of us knows its risks especially it being implemented online, and with a fact that the security of the Philippines with online platforms aren't that much good -- would simply imply a greater risks to personal information of its possible users.

Furthermore, I'm looking forward to what this would become. I'm not totally positive, yet I'm too afraid with the risks, online.

That's great news for all of you.
I have the same thought. Are you willing to take the risks?
I saw a lot of casinos opening in different countries but I haven't gone thru one near me since I don't want to take the risks.
It's a different view when you have kids.
You don't want to be the one scattering it in your house. My wife will kill me for that.

But as I said it's great news. It means the economy is starting to lift up again.

They are trying to survive the pandemic, 96% revenue losses is such a huge figure and they need to think of something that can help them recover, this is actually a good move from the government and they should have implemented this much earlier, other industries are recovering, and these casinos are revenue-generating for the government, I also don't know how can this implemented but I'm sure they will post guidelines and mechanics that will benefit all the players.

In order to move forward this setup is really needed to help this land based casinos.

They've loss and whatever ways to try recovering in order to survive are always in considerations, there are changes that happened due to this pandemic and with this offering, I don't know if they also cater their physical games, wondering if they'll be offering luck based games.
Are they going to be something like how online casino set up? just curious since land based casinos are popular with those games aside from physical interaction those luck based games are also attracting gamblers to visits and stay.

Not a big deal for me since implementing the online feature of certain land-based casinos is not a new idea.

Maybe I just want to know, what games are supported online by these land-based casinos? For sure it's not all of their games. It's not mentioned in the article.

They offer pretty much everything they can offer in land-based casinos, and have specific application downloadable for free on any smartphone, be it Android or IOS. They even got a live tables for anyone who has trust issues  Grin. I haven't played yet, but the ambiance of their online platform is pretty cozy and welcoming, plus they are trustworthy cause they are already in the industry for a very long time.

They do live sessions for anyone, but keeping in mind the rules and regulations posted in their sites. They generated apps for easy learning on how they do their business online, but pretty much the same as the existing crypto online gambling sites, but it is in fiat money.

The Philippines has allowed land-based casinos to accept bets online, in a move that could help operators mitigate losses from the pandemic. Gaming stocks rose.

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. has approved the applications of Bloomberry Resorts Corp.’s Solaire Resort and Casino, City of Dreams Manila, and Okada Manila for betting through the Internet, president Alfredo Lim said in mobile-phone messages.

Filipino government always wants to have a big tax they received so they are going to do anything so that casinos can pay their tax. Philippines is not a rich country so we cannot blame them but their ways of solving the problem is really a good ideas. Gamblers are also one of the factor why this thing happens because they are going to do anything just to gamble and others are very addicted on gambling so we cannot stop them but the underground gamblers is not a good idea because they are disobeying the Philippine's rules and regulation on gamblings.

I remember there was a similar decision made by some other country due to the pandemic. However, I think that it's better to encourage online casinos (or land-based casinos figuring out how to make online versions) instead of simply online payments. After all, people mainly get infected from each other rather than from touching some surfaces and money. Moreover, this decision itself has little to do with cryptos, as it seems that it's related to fiat online payments (the article doesn't mention Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies). The economy would not suffer much if people switch to online gambling and do it legally, and the consequences can be much better.

It is only a land based online gambling casino right? not a gambling site online that accepting cryptocurrency or Bitcoin?
Perhaps it will be better only if their online based casino has the same concept with the gambling site we have here in cryptocurrency
at least with this system they could get a lot of opportunity for sure.

This is good news of course because this means the gamblers may now resume to do their thing. But if I am a person who enjoys playing casino games in an actual casino which is now closed due to the pandemic but suddenly informed that I may now resume playing in the casino but not physically on their land-based one but on an online one, I'd rather do it with a crypto casino.

Both are turning into online casinos. But the crypto casino has what is called provable fairness. It may not be present in a physical casino which offers betting online.

That is a good news but the casino should also upgrade to using cryptocurrency and to avoid the KYC. This is what the problem of every duly licensed casino granted to operate. The motive is good but hopefully other concerns from the gamblers should also be met. If they can't give what we wanted then we will still going to use foreign platform casino that met our expectation. However, we will going to see how it will be done and to test it out for our satisfaction.

No God or Kings, only BITCOIN.
It would be much better if they accept bitcoins or other cryptocurrencies but I doubt if that will ever happen most likely it will only be for fiat or credit cards. Might be good but I think this land base casinos are that impatient now that the pandemic has taken longer than expected they are that generating much revenues especially the past months. They should have done this long time ago IMO.

What are your thoughts on this?

in a way, I have expected or knew that this would eventually happen (pandemic or not). this will be a new opportunity for them to take on and a great opportunity to earn more.  I wonder if they will be willing to accept cryptocurrency once the online betting for their land casino is operational

so land based casinos will be like the ones we have right here?
if so then, might be a good start to take some of their losses during the pandemic, but the question is, are these casinos are already ready to take this online betting?
Sounds risky especially if this is the first time ever they're accepting bets, as transactions can also have some issues.

it is risky but the casino could just hire an expert on the field to advise them what to do or not to do etc... this is new opportunity to earn more money and will be big for them and will not let it pass even if it is risky.

I'm not curious about how they will implement this thing but I'm more curious about the effect of this news in the stock of Bloomberg Cheesy.
I just went to the site where we see the PSE stocks and as they published this article, the price of the stocks of Bloomberg went up at least 7% but enough for that.

I don't think that this will be implemented for a long time since pandemic isn't forever. I just hope that they implemented this months before so that those gamblers who can't go out because of the lockdown can still gamble thru online. They saw the decrease of revenue in casinos that is why they implemented this. Good news for those gamblers still. More ways to gamble = more gamblers that will gamble and more gamblers = more revenue and more revenue = more tax to be paid to the government Smiley.

Well At least for long they allow this to happen, things that the Government has done even when the pandemic starting .
because there are many gamblers that affected of lockdown that missed betting, specially those who don't know online gambling.
^ Definitely right, probably because all countries now need to recover from their economy and boost from recovery. We all know that gambling industries are also helpful when it comes to generating revenue, this is very important to recover from what most countries have been experienced, the pandemic. A lot of countries suffer now with financial status and the economy has been down. This is good news for them because it really helps. Nevertheless, we hope that gamblers there can able to control themselves and did not have a negative effect on their citizens.

Which I think is huge as tax.

Gambling games on land-based casinos are more on traditional card, and dice games. Lotteries, and other gambling games are also allowed. But to some activities such as cockfighting, there is a specific place wherein it is allowed.
