Currently I don't own any bitcoin in my savings account, I got so caught up with the defi hype that I traded my portfolio to gain some more profits and now I'm trapped. Me selling now will means I'll have to be comfortable losing close to 80% of my invested capital which is something I won't be comfortable doing therefore I'm left with no option than to hold in anticipating that a miracle would happen in the future and even though it'll just give me the opportunity to get back my investment capital, I'll take that chance.

I know I didn't invest smartly as I was only meant to investment funds that I'll be ok losing but I got this one all wrong and now I'm suffering the outcome. I'm just hoping of altcoins recovering which is why most of my replies are in support of them and hopefully with time they'll recover and get me those target of mine which involves owning one bitcoin.

Actually it was me working towards that, that got me in this mess, me investing in altcoins in the first place to try to boost my chances into owning one bitcoin to join the very few elite that do.
Ask everyone around and if they are truly honest they will recognize their mistakes. We all did them  Smiley
The point is to recognize those mistakes and avoid repeating them in the future. I'm a longtimer on btt and if you have read my interview you would know what my mistakes were. I hope I'm done with them.

I was lucky to venture in to the cryptocurrency sector during the initial phase (2014). As a result, I was able to earn much more than BTC1 through various signature campaigns and giveaways. But it is not possible now to earn that much from signature campaigns and bounties. On average, these campaigns currently pay less than BTC0.20 per year.

So for the new users, the only way of owning more than 1 BTC is to convert some of their other assets to BTC. And this can be a very difficult decision to make, given the volatility of the Bitcoin prices.

I have been in that situation as well, but I was not able to keep my 1 bitcoin, I trade it with altcoins and shit happens. However, I don't regret as I was able to invest on a business in real life, now my goal is to start hunting for 1 bitcoin but I will not make it this year, that's for sure.

I must confess I was not expecting these results. Being a bitcoin forum I would have said at least half % of respondents have one full coin but that's not the case. Below the updated results

BTC Yes - 13 (28.3%)
BTC No - 33 (71.7%) Total Voters: 46

It seems that it is not easy to have 1 bitcoin at this time because it is clear that the pandemic also affects people who cannot save some of their funds to be put in crypto, because their needs must also be prioritized during a pandemic such as Covid-19.
There are many new unemployed people who obviously have to drain savings.

like myself, there are some eth that should be converted to bitcoin to be delayed because the necessities of life are forced to sell some for their daily necessities as well. only a little left and obviously can not expect to change to bitcoin.
I believe that those who still have bitcoin are those who may not be directly affected by the pandemic (this is just a prediction, it could be different).

In my opinion, it doesn't really matter whether or not one has a whole bitcoin.

The beauty of bitcoin is that you don't necessarily need to have a specific amount of coins to participate in economic activity. Any amount you are currently holding will steadily grow in terms of purchasing power, thus allowing you to buy more and more desirable things. With bitcoin, you are a more future-oriented person because your share of the total money supply is always known and cannot be secretly taxed through inflation. Your share depends on how much time and effort you dedicated to acquiring it. The harder you work, the more bitcoins you receive.

LOL.. when I purchased my coins (2.4 BTC in January 2017), the exchange rate was $900 per coin. I was lucky to make my investment then. Within less than 12 months, the exchange rates increased by 20x. Then there was a prolonged correction, but I held on to my coins. Almost 4 years have passed since I made my first investment. For me, getting 20x returns in just four years is difficult to fathom. Previously I had invested in stocks and bullion. But none of them gave me this sort of returns.

Due to the pandemic situation, my plan to have 1 BTC in 2020 failed, I have urgent needs. So I have to convert my Bitcoin to fiat,
and I have to spend buying some basic necessities. The amount of Bitcoin that I have collected continues to decrease, because in
a situation like now I have a lot to buy. So for 2020 I have to accept the fact that the desire to have 1 BTC failed to be achieved,
but I will go back to trying to collect Bitcoin again once my finances are stable.
That is totally understandable. And you're not alone in that situation. Many of us comes short financially at times and this pandemic made it even worse. That's why those bitcoins that we've earned from quite some time, aiming to reach 1 BTC, has been spent so we can just survive. And, I think thats justifiable. I haven't earned anywhere near 1 BTC also but like you said, when I'm also financially stable already, then hopefully I can reach that amount too.

First people wanted to own 21 Bitcoin to own 1/million of the supply, now they want at least 1 BTC, and in the future, if the price will keep rising, there will be a new arbitrary goal, like 0.1 BTC or 0.021 BTC. This is all just human psychology, our desire to see round numbers, because numbers with many different digits are harder to operate with in our minds. This should never be put before the first rule of investing - invest only what you can afford to lose.

In case I would have got 1 Bitcoin nowadays, I would definitely Hodl it. It is my opinion, that today is not the time to sell it. But I made too hasty decision one day when I decided to sell some part of it, and bought altcoins that looked a bit perspective. Nowadays I would got more benefits rather not buying those alts then selling part of BTC. But what is done is already done))

it all depends. if you hold for 1-2 years it would most likely be very very good investment. in the short term it would probably fall down but we have seen that million times so far. many expect 2017-18 pattern to repeat and to reach 50-100k in a year. meanwhile may see 13-15K at most which is good to buy again. personally i don't believe in trading and i am in it with 3-4 % of my BTC's just for fun.

Does anyone here think getting a btc now makes it harder to make more money compared to alts?  I mean to double your money would need btc to hit double what it currently is.

It’s not easy from here for btc to just double in quick time, if able to hold for long then the best thing to do is to buy when it has fallen so that you can leverage that fall and with rise can make some money if just looking for short term. Also, since it has already near 18k so again possible that it can rise till 19k and fall back again if cannot break the ATH.

For anyone who would be thinking of buying 1 btc at this price really have a tough choice to make, you would be caught in the middle of thinking between the possibility of btc going up from this price point of dipping,
if you buy now and btc dips, you will regret not waiting a bit and if you wait and btc goes even higher, you will regret not buying at this price,
To me the road to owning 1 btc is more realistic than a dream  Wink

Yes, it gets harder to profit since the price went up by 30% in the last 30 days. At this point the price could go down just like what happened last time.

Buying a whole btc at this price point feels like a disaster waiting to happen.

Reading all your very different replies and having a look at the poll really puts things into perspective. There's no perfect bitcoin amount to own: just own and hold what you can guys. Stay positive, keep working hard and try to do your best and I am sure that most of you can reach at least a desired amount of coins.
Remember, things change rapidly and many people who have more than one bitcoin can easily be so-called weak hands.
It takes much more than luck to be able to cope with BTC.

See you guys around!

No I don't have 1 BTC right now but surely someday I would own 1 for sure if I keep on saving and investing in crypto.
My goal is to have at least 1-4 BTC or have my own house before 2025.
And I think I could make it if I continue to save, work and properly manage my money.
