I think Chelsea had chances to win but did Liverpool. What a sight it was to see Mane vs Mendy in the penalty shoot out because both are teammates for the Senegal national team.

Which players are you calling toothless? Who should Tuchel sell?

We only have ourselves to blame in both games; we are always toothless whenever we play against Liverpool; we lost the Carabao Cup because Mount missed easy chances to score, and we lost the FA Cup today because Pulisic missed numerous chances in both the first and second halves of the game. Tuchel does not deserve these toothless players, and we need to upgrade in the summer. Tuchel deserves better, and I'm in pain.

We can't afford to lose our fourth FA Cup final in a row; it would be so humiliating if we fail to bring this one back to welcome our new owners, Tood Boehly and his team.
Unfortunately for Chelsea this will be a hard loss to take. They still will finish 3rd in the premier league but they were beaten by Liverpool in the EFL Carabao Cup final on penalties earlier in the year and now they lost the FA Cup final to Liverpool on penalties again.

I am going for a Chelsea win because it is their only way to win silverware this season. Liverpool have already won the EFL Carabao Cup and are in the champions league final but that should not give them excuses to allow Chelsea to win easily. It will be a good match to watch but after all Chelsea have been through this season, if they win the FA Cup and finish 3rd in the premier league it will be an excellent season for them.

It is still very early days since VAR was introduced in the game, a few years at that. I think as it evolves the pressure will be applied on them to face scrutiny and that should help minimise errors on their part. I was not a big fan of VAR when it was first introduced in the Premier League but I can see the benefits outweigh the previous situation. Give it time  Wink

What's the need for VAR when refs are still making decisions though

We can both agree that during the 2018/2019 season, when Liverpool won their first EPL title, they were dubbed LiVARpool because of several instances in which VAR played a crucial role in their matches. In the Champions League, the same could be said about Real Madrid.
Yeah, definitely were known as that. Although, I don't think that has anything to do with Liverpool, it's just incompetency from VAR, rather than corruption. I know some might think it's corruption, and to be honest with some of the decisions, even when they're looking at still images, and have all the tools at their disposal, some of the decisions are absolutely baffling, even leaving the commentators baffled.
Why does VAR appear to be inept whenever Liverpool plays,  Angry  and the majority of VAR decisions favor them? If it's not a case of corruption or an inside job, I'm at a loss for what else to say.

So, I do get that, but really I just think the people behind VAR, and the decisions need to be held accountable. After all, if a player cheats or a manager cheats they'll have it in the neck.
Neither seen nor heard a ref that was held accountable for a bad decision that ruined a game, the only thing we hear is an apology. The ref who ended the game in the 85th minute during the AFCON is still officiating games, with no penalty or action taken against him. FIFA officials are among the most well-protected individuals on the planet.

Maybe with time as we move further in to the VAR era and the technology improves, the remote referees just might be held to account when they get it badly wrong.

I agree, Liverpool cannot be blamed for anything related to the past VAR decisions because they were taken by referees but having said that they had to take the good decisions with the bad like all the other teams.... not all decisions went their way. Call it incompetence or negligence, the problems that teams face when VAR makes a wrong decision can be huge especially if promotion, relegation and finals/semi-finals are at stake. There should be a much greater scrutiny of VAR when they get it wrong.

There needs to be some sort of responsibility when making game changing decisions. Especially with VAR as it takes some of that pressure off that could be excused in the past when a ref makes a bad decision in real time.

I'm not so sure it does favour certain teams. I just think its poor all around. Liverpool have been on the receiving side of VAR a few times this season, and some of them were blatantly onside. I do believe the decision on Firminho last season, resulted in them changing the lines, because it was so obvious that where they drew the lines, and the thinness of them, basically ruled a goal offside when it was definitely onside.

Except for the English Premier League, where it appears that VAR was implemented to favor certain clubs,we do not receive many negative reports from the Champions League, Italian, and Spanish leagues VAR. I  haven't checked the officiating crew yet, but I'm confident Anthony Taylor will get his way and I don't know  why Anthony Taylor continues to officiate Chelsea bigger games despite a series of protests and petitions against him. Dude hate Chelsea.

I do agree though, VAR has been awful ever since it has been implemented, and to be honest I haven't seen any improvement at all. I just wish it was never a thing or was implemented similarly to how rugby has implemented it.

but Liverpool always find a way to manipulate results in their favor. We're not going to lose to them in the final for the second time this season, so bookmark this. We've lost four FA Cup finals in the last five years, and we've been plagued by the Wembley curse.
It's most certainly not Liverpool manipulating the results in their favour, but rather that the current VAR system is terribly implemented, and the referees aren't consistent at all. The annoying part is that a VAR type system called TMO in rugby has been in effect for years, and generally is pretty damn good. So, we know we can make it work, but the way it's implemented needs to change.

Having said that, I believe the VAR system has done more harm than good in the long run. since it was put in place

Liverpool just seem to not perform well against Chelsea this season. I do believe though we've got a lot better since the last time we've met, and Chelsea are arguably in one of their poorer runs of form recently. So, I'm still going in confident with a Liverpool win.

We were in a worse state than we are now when we played out a draw in the league cup; the only issue going into the FA cup game now is Kante; he's been having a difficult game time due to Ramadan fasting, and he hasn't been himself; we've had some midfield challenges recently; however, I believe we will give it our all this time because this is our only chance of winning a trophy this season. I'm looking forward to it.

I did not realise Chelsea had been in so many finals and lost so many of them. Since you are sure Chelsea will beat Liverpool in the final, what do you think the score will be?

Right now Liverpool are in a position to win 4 major trophies but this is the only opportunity remaining for Chelsea therefore I think Chelsea will not allow Liverpool to dominate the game. Tuchel will go for an all-out attacking team because the pressure will be on Liverpool to try to make history with an unprecedented quadruple. I think Chelsea will give Liverpool big problems even though Liverpool are favourites to win.

However, having said that I do agree with you Chelsea seem to have our number this season. You could argue the game in the Premier League where there was a red card for one of the Chelsea defenders, they also had our number there too.

people still judge football results based on their previous performance. Lol.  Chelsea were the better team in the Carabao Cup final before VAR ruined the game; we all know that the Lukaku winning goal was onside, but Liverpool always find a way to manipulate results in their favor. You are right, I know the odds are stacked in favour of Liverpool to win the FA cup but in a final anything can happen. Just because Chelsea lost against Arsenal at home does not mean they will give Liverpool a free pass to demolish them at Wembley.

@JollyGood if Arsenal can beat Chelsea then I’m sure that Liverpool will easily beat them in the finals, and just when it felt that Chelsea was stabilising itself it’s clear that they’re mentally not ready. Furthermore mark my words Liverpool will easily score minimum 3 goals against them, and if Chelsea’s defence fails badly then I expect Liverpool to score up to 6 goals.
