Manchester United 1-1 Middlesborough

Middlesborough win 7-8 in penalty shoot out

This is another disappointing night for Manchester United but full credit to Middlesborough for their win. Elanga missed the 16th penalty on the night by kicking it way over the bar which made Middlesborough winners and they are the first team that have qualified for the 5th round of the FA Cup.

Ronaldo of all people missed a penalty in the first half. Middlesborough scored an equaliser from an obvious handball but in the end it is Middlesborough that were victorious.

The last 32 round has finished and the most surprising result was in the Nottingham - Arsenal game surely. Because Arsenal lost this game by 1-0. They lost it by the goal came in the last ten minutes of the game. It must be really shocking for Arsenal. Because they are one of the very successful teams of the FA Cup considering the history of this tournament. They won the title four times in the last ten seasons. They have been eliminated very early now.

this is indeed an extraordinary surprise match where the host Nottingham forest managed to fight for and Arsenal with a score of 1-0 and at the same time made Arsenal have to be eliminated in the last 32 of the FA Cup this season, maybe this is a very surprising match for football lovers especially considering Arsenal are currently so on fire in the last few games but this is all football that is so full of drama and even in that game the goal was scored in the last 10 minutes of the game which made Arsenal have to go out early in the FA cup

Who is your favourite to win the FA Cup this season? When you post can you explain why you made that choice Grin

I think current holders Leicester City along with Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United have a good chance to win because the Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City will be keeping their focus on the Premier League and Champions League more than the FA Cup. I cannot see Manchester United winning it this season.

I am no expert but I think you could be correct - some of the players are simply not good enough to play for Manchester United. Also, how can they perform at a high level when they feel no motivation for a manager who is there until the end of the season? It is not easy for the interim manager Rangnick and it is not easy for the players too.

Tuchel had no connection or history with Chelsea when he walked in the Chelsea dressing room as a new manager after Lampard was sacked but the players believed in him and went on to win the Champions League. Look at Rangnick, he has no connection at all to the Manchester United history and the team are failing therefore it simply shows Tuchel to be a real world class manager whereas Rangnick was overrated with nothing of substance behind him.

The players gave up on Solskjaer and now they are giving up on Rangnick. Of course I would blame the players but I would add a lot of blame for the people recruiting the managers, they made wrong choices with van Gaal and Mourinho before and now with Rangnick. The win against Villa could a be a catalyst for them to turn their season around as they try to win the FA Cup and finish the season in the top 4 but it seems highly unlikely to me unless their collective mindset changes.

@JollyGood a lot is being written about player’s unhappiness here, but why is no one saying about these player’s that they’re just not good enough for the club anymore. Also if you want names look at Rashford how is he in the playing 11, and with all those sloppy passes Fred is yet in the team, so Ralf needs to start axing non performing player’s and then only will we see the old attacking Manchester United spirit back.

I agree with you, Manchester United have had far too many of these types of games and their form just does not seem to improve. It is clear the players are not happy, they need a real experienced manager that has a proven track record or they need a manager that has not won anything but has a tactical approach befitting a club of the stature of Manchester United... maybe Mauricio Pochettino will fit the bill because he was long touted as a possible manager and with stories of unrest at PSG and him not being happy there, it might be the case he will be appointed Manchester United manager before the beginning of next season.

Aston Villa are heading in the right direction, they have Gerrard as their manager and seem to be playing good football but in the end he needs his team to win matches or he will be sacked.

Manchester United 1-0 Aston Villa
I watched the game, it was another woeful display by Manchester United and even though they won it was clear to see how far they have fallen while they search for the perfect manager to take them forward. Aston Villa played their part well, had 2 goals correctly disallowed but they played well and took the game to their opponents.
Aston Villa are knocked out but next for Manchester United in the 4th Round is another home game against Middlesborough.
I, too, had the happiness or, on the contrary, the misfortune to observe this spectacle. To say that Manchester United inspires with their game is to err against the truth. Having scored their goal quickly enough, Manchester United unfortunately did not demonstrate a coherent game further and should thank the Aston Villa players, the referees and VAR, de Gea, Mrs. Fortune that the game ended in regular time with a victory, and did not go into extra time or even ended in defeat  Wink Steven Gerrard's players really deserved at least one goal that would have been counted, but to Aston Villa's great regret, this did not happen. I wanted to say that Manchester United should forget about this match and move on, but then I thought that there have been a lot of such matches at MU lately and something needs to be solved with this, and not just forget.

As the January transfers keep hounding Manchester united to produce good results, this time they were put to the test against Aston Villa which they got to win thanks to an early goal from McTominay which was the only goal of the game...but question now is can Manchester united team keep this up by winning their games with the continued transfer pressures...

The moment the game was ruined by VAR awful decision yet again, the problem is not VAR but how it's been use in England. The VAR in Champions league and Italy is by a mile better than what the English are operating.

I can't say anything about Italy, but it's true that the CL decisions are basically better, although there have been critical decisions that could be reconsidered in the last two years. But I can say that the quality of VAR in Germany is similarly bad as in England. Originally, the idea was that the VAR should only intervene in the case of a grossly wrong decisions. Such offside decisions, where only a knee or hand are just offside, are not gross decisions and should not concern the VAR at all.

Here is the 4th Round Draw

Crystal Palace v Hartlepool United

Bournemouth v Boreham Wood

Huddersfield Town v Barnsley

Peterborough United v Queens Park Rangers

Cambridge United v Luton Town

Southampton v Coventry City

Chelsea v Plymouth Argyle

Everton v Brentford

Kidderminster Harriers v West Ham United

Manchester United/Aston Villa v Middlesbrough

Tottenham Hotspur v Brighton and Hove Albion

Liverpool v Cardiff City

Stoke City v Wigan Athletic

Nottingham Forest v Leicester City

Manchester City v Fulham

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Norwich City

It is the magic of the FA Cup that allows possibilities of minnows playing against giants.... Crystal Palace v Hartlepool United and Bournemouth v Boreham Wood and Kidderminster Harriers v West Ham United

For example it is a fantastic opportunity for Kidderminster to get lots of money from television rights and a full stadium gates receipt which should set them up financially for years to come. Boreham Wood and Hartlepool would also be receiving very much needed financial windfalls too.

Not so bad for a team that's not as big as the former big four
- 2016: EPL Title
- 2021: FA Cup Title
- 2026: CL Title? hehe

Has anyone seen that video of a Leicester player throwing the Chelsea banner in their locker room? I understand the excitement and all the emotions after winning the Final but that's not acceptable.

Congrats to Leicester and who bet on them.

Congratulations to Leicester City! It is a very good job that they beat Chelsea 1-0 in the final and won the FA CUP.  In recent years, they have started to do well on the scoreboard as well. In their success, there is some reason Chelsea thinks about the Champions League final. They will play Chelsea again in the league on May 18th. This match is just as important as the FA CUP. Because Chelsea is in 4th place and Leicester is in 3rd place. There is a 2 point difference. Let's see what we will see.

What a sad , sore loser Thomas Tuchel is. He just went down in my estimate because after the game he said "Youri Tielemans wonder goal was lucky": Metro UK

It was an absolute brilliant goal, not lucky or anything else. Chelsea were punished by a determined and focused Leicester team that refused to be beaten and refused to be outplayed and refused to surrender to a bigger more powerful team in Chelsea.

Well done to Leicester again for the victory but on current form it looks like Manchester City will easily beat Chelsea in the Champions League final.

this season is a beautiful season for lecester city, besides being able to win against chelsea in the FA final, leicester should be proud of course because in the previous match, leicester city also won the match against Manchester United and automatically secured tickets for the Champions League next season.
After being able to win the EPL in 2015/16, leicester city turned into one of the most respected clubs in the English league because it was able to destroy big clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United and also the arsenal, but there was an interesting incident in the celebration of the leiceister final yesterday at Wembley , in which there are two leicester players, Hamza Choudhury and Wesley Fofana, who have  raised the Palestine flag to support the palestine freedom from Israeli violence so far.

Three FA cup final defect for Chelsea in the last 5 years and 8 final lost from 11 in the last decade its ridiculous how they keep getting to the final only to lose it, with Chelsea current form they are likely going to lose the champions league as well. Yes, they dominated the possession but the attacking and finishing has been poor from the past 3 games. The officiating was poor but nobody stops you from scoring a goal when u had the chance.

They we have to beat Leicester on Tuesday to be forgiven

Defeat is not the worst failures.

I had commented that the problem with chelsea Is that they waste a lot of opportunities to score goals, and in most games that they lose the same thing happens: chelsea enters the game playing well, chelsea misses opportunities to score goals and the game ends with the defeat of chelsea. Congratulations to Leicester for the victory at least for this season they left with a great achievement

I thought Chelsea appeared to be very dominating in the FA final last night, but unfortunately Chelsea was not able to take advantage of the opportunities.

chelsea misses opportunities and that makes them lose games. I think they should look for more players to score goals

I thought Chelsea appeared to be very dominating in the FA final last night, but unfortunately Chelsea was not able to take advantage of the opportunities that exist to score against the Leicester goal guarded by Kasper Schmeichel and besides Youri Tielemans who managed to score the winner of Leicester, of course the goalkeeper was right tonight it is true that he became a hero for Leicester because he appeared quite swift in warding off some of the Chelsea players' shots that led to the goal, Leicester's long wait to lift the FA trophy finally materialized tonight at Wembley after a long wait.
Congratulations to Leicester and fans,
congratulations brendan rogers on the success.

FA CUP FINAL:

Chelsea 0-1 Leicester City

Well done to Leicester City, they won the FA Cup for the first time in their history. Rodgers is the second manager to win the both the Scottish Cup and the English FA Cup (Sir Alex Ferguson was the first). Leicester lost 4 FA Cup finals but won today and they deserved to win it.

Well done to Tuchel for getting Chelsea to the final and also for almost getting them a Champions League position next season and for getting them to the Champions League final but for today well done and congratulations to Leicester City.

Wasnt espected from leicester to win the title but they really done it. Chelsea even saved players not to get injured or tired but couldnt win it i guess. The only thing they can focus is on the champions league final
A bitter moment must have been felt by Chelsea and their fans after losing the FA Cup final to Leicester City, in my opinion many people did not expect the defeat of Chelsea who were seeded and also dominated the game but lost.
What Chelsea defeat is a strategy so that it won't be read in the Champions League final because Thomas Tuchel is more focused on the Champions League final later.
and whatever the reason is just my assessment, because Leicester City is not my hope to lift the FA Cup trophy, but that is the true reality because Leicester play very disciplined, especially in defense.
