Atheism is one of the few religions that allow its members to set themselves up as god, without all the wasted time of making a ritual out of it.

I'm fairly sure Atheism is the only religion where you do not become a god/angel after you die...

You continually project the faults of your religion onto atheism

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychological_projection
Quote
Psychological projection is a theory in psychology in which humans defend themselves against their own unpleasant impulses by denying their existence while attributing them to others. For example, a person who is habitually rude may constantly accuse other people of being rude. It can take the form of blame shifting.

According to some research, the projection of one's negative qualities onto others is a common process in everyday life.

You are so good. When an atheist dies in his atheism, he sets himself up for a judgement where he will lose the little bit of Godness he has in this life. And he will lose it for all eternity.

While an atheist is still living, he has made himself into a god by stating that God doesn't exist. How does this work? It takes a god to state something as foolish as the idea that God doesn't exist. Atheism self-destructs by the very theme that it promotes. It takes the atheist right along with it.

Which religion is the best religion?

Why, atheism, of course.

Atheism is one of the few religions that allow its members to set themselves up as god, without all the wasted time of making a ritual out of it.

Wouldn't you like to be a god? Become an atheist. It's the closest you will ever get.

Quote
Story Highlights

75% of Americans identify with a Christian religion
Christian identification is down from 80% in 2008
5% of Americans identify with a non-Christian religion, little changed

PRINCETON, N.J. -- On the eve of Christmas 2015, a review of over 174,000 interviews conducted in 2015 shows that three-quarters of American adults identify with a Christian religion, little changed from 2014, but down from 80% eight years ago. About 5% of Americans identify with a non-Christian religion, while 20% have no formal religious identification, which is up five percentage points since 2008.

These results are based on interviews conducted each year since 2008 as part of Gallup Daily tracking. The general trends in the data over this eight-year period are clear: As the percentage of Americans identifying with a Christian religion has decreased, the percentage with no formal religious identification has increased. The small percentage of Americans who identify with a non-Christian religion has been essentially constant over this time period.

The downtick in the percentage of the U.S. population identifying as Christian over the past eight years is a continuation of a trend that has been evident for decades. In Gallup surveys in the 1950s, over 90% of the adult population identified as Christian, with only a small percentage claiming no religious identification at all or identifying with a non-Christian religion.

Despite these changes, America remains a predominantly Christian nation, and with 94% of those who identify with a religion saying they are Christian.

The broad Christian category includes Catholics, Protestants, Mormons and non-denominational Christians. In 2015, 24% of Americans identify as Catholic, 50% as Protestant or as members of another non-Catholic Christian religion, and 2% as Mormon.

Christian Percentage Is Lowest Among Young Americans

The percentage of Christians is highest among older Americans and decreases with each progressively younger age group. This trend reflects the high number of "nones" -- those without a formal religious identity -- in the younger generations, as well as a higher proportion of non-Christians among them.

One key to the future of Christian representation in the U.S. population will be shifts in the religious identification of today's youngest cohorts. Traditionally, Americans have become more likely to identify with a religion as they age through their 30s and 40s and get married and have children. If this pattern does not occur in the same way it has in the past, the percentage of Christians nationwide will likely continue to shrink.

Bottom Line

America remains a predominantly Christian nation, with three-quarters of all adults identifying with a Christian faith, and with over 90% Christian representation among those who say they are a member of any kind of religion. A major religious trend in the U.S., however, has been the increasing number of Americans who say they do not have a formal religious identification. This expansion has been accompanied by the shrinkage in the number of people who identify as Christian. More than 95% of Americans identified as Christian in the 1950s, and 80% did so as recently as eight years ago. While the 5% of the population who identify with a non-Christian faith is higher than it was decades ago, it has not shown significant change over the past eight years.

These data are available in Gallup Analytics.

Survey Methods

Results for this Gallup poll are based on telephone interviews conducted from 2008-2015 on the Gallup U.S. Daily survey, with random samples of adults, aged 18 and older, living in all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia. The sample sizes of those interviewed were over 350,000 for the years 2008 through 2012, and over 170,000 for the years 2013 through 2015. The 2015 sample consists of interviews conducted through Dec. 20, 2015. For results based on the total sample of national adults for each year, the margin of sampling error is ±1 percentage point at the 95% confidence level. All reported margins of sampling error include computed design effects for weighting.

Each sample of national adults includes both cellphone respondents and landline respondents, with the percentage of each varying across the eight years included in this analysis. Landline and cellular telephone numbers are selected using random-digit-dial methods.

The best religion is obviously the Pastafarianism! I converted about one year ago. We pray the Flying Spaghetti Monster that created us in a moment of drunkenness, it's all based about tolerance. Its origins are in the USA but it's quite popular here in Italy, pastafarians often appear in the national TV  Grin

(Just jocking, in my opinion there isn't a "best religion")

Pastafarians are discriminated against in America... seems the government thinks they are not a real religion... as if the gov gets to decide which religion is fact vs fiction...

I believe people who do not care about religion or smth are the type of people whom you can learn the most. They only state facts and stuff and won't conclude anything just because their 'God' say so. People without religion can observe and just let themselves learn from their experience.

You left out Bitcoin  Sad

Seek the truth for it shall set you free, truth is stranger than fiction and reality is riddled with irony. Terence Mckenna’s time wave theory is vindicated by the blockchain, it is the tipping point in human history. "He who controls the past controls the future. He who controls the present controls the past.' - George Orwell. This will be the blockchain; it will record history going forward and in so doing it will free society from its "chains". The genesis block was the birth of collective consciousness; Satoshi Nakamoto is the supernatural creator ;-)

BitCoin, operates without fear, favor, emotion or bias and without any awareness of its "supernatural" creator Satoshi. However all BitCoin users, use it with emotion. BitCoin is a purely abstract construct that has been manifested into reality in a way that neither its creator nor the individuals who uses it, can control. Likewise the external operating protocol of our reality is completely devoid of emotion or bias; we engage it through the interface of our five senses and process it with an emotional processor. Our self awareness affords us the ability to develop an operating system of our choosing with the bias of our environment.

Quote
"Culture is your operating system" - Terence Mckenna

Quote
"Universe is the aggregate of all humanity's consciously apprehended and communicated non simultaneous and only partially overlapping experiences. `` -Buckminster Fuller.

The Master Wizard, Satoshi Nakamoto conjured a supernatural spell by arranging symbols on his keyboard and cast them into the interwebz. The power of this will transform society like no other spell before.

Because people know so little about God, factually, they need religion to present God to themselves in ways they understand.

In fact, people don't know almost nothing about God, purpose of life, creation of Universe, spiritual world etc.
Science can't give us this answers, only God can.
Because we are not mature enough, and divided because of different races, nationalities, cultures, traditions etc.
God didn't have other choice but to work with each group of people separately, according to their own understanding and maturity.
So, because of this, we have so many religions and faiths today, not because there are a lot gods.
God is only one.
So, because we have one, common Heavenly Father, our Creator, we are all his children and between us brothers and sisters, part of one universal family.
As soon as we realize it, it will be better for us.
There are no real reason for fighting and conflicts in the world, once we realize that we all belong to one global family.

That's just silly and ignorant...

The gods of various religions have almost nothing in common... they cannot be the same person...

How would you explain Hinduism?  Multiple gods?  Elephant god?  Blue god?  6-arm god?  You think that's the same God that you believe in?!?

Almost all religions teach the same things:
- We are created beings
- There are God or some higher being in Heaven
- Once people lived in Heaven or Paradise but fall
- Story about Big Flood
- Teach about absolute values, ethics and moral
- Teach about spiritual values
- Teach about life after death

I can mention more things but here, you have enough evidence that all religions have something in common.
For a deeper understanding read this: http://www.worldprayerfoundation.com/resources/World%20Scriptures.pdf
Here, you can see, when we compare main religious books, most content is the same.
Differences are because of different culture, tradition etc.

Are you seriously trying to argue that the various religions have more in common than in disagreement about god and the universe?

The Christian God is nothing like the Jewish God, who is nothing like the Muslim God, who is nothing like the Mormon God, who is nothing like the Hindu God(s), etc...

The various Abrahamic religions have been murdering each other for thousands of years over who has the better interpretation of "the one true God"... they don't believe he is the same character... nobody really believes that... do you actually believe that your God is Allah? Your God is Vishnu/Krishna? Your God is Odin/Zeus?

If you say God is a bearded white man, and I say one of my gods is a blue woman with 6 arms... we can't both be talking about the same God(s)...

There is no "best religion". They are just different, thats all.
Agreed, God didnt said man to have religion to enter the kingdom of heaven.

Man invented Religion, misunderstanding and abuse of power lead to false truth.

People doesn't need religion, what we need is relationship with God.

Because people know so little about God, factually, they need religion to present God to themselves in ways they understand.

Nobody is talking about the gods of the nations except you. We are talking about the God of the universe, the one proven to exist by combining cause and effect, complex universe, and universal entropy... the real God.
