Hi, Today 50th day and still dont got any reply. Telegram and Trollbox mod. always told me that they still working to solve my issue. I dont understand recover btc very simple process but 50 days they didnt solve it. I think i want that I will give up and forget this coins. After that it will be Poloniex btc.. How can it possible.  I dont understand If there's a solution, why don't they help me..  I'm so tired of following this process and I can not do anything.. Sad(  Huh Huh
~snip~

Regardless, OP should just continue reaching out to Poloniex's support in whatever ways possible. It doesn't cost him/her much to continue doing that.

OP, present your case well, formally and courteously, with all the evidences and screenshots. I don't know, it might help your ticket stand out. For sure, Poloniex regularly receives a whole lot of tickets with the same case as yours.

$23,000 may not be a biggie to Poloniex but it is to OP. It is an amount worth pursuing till the end.

I hope I will get money back, I fund Poloniex staff on Linkedin .. I wrote them that I need help and support dont reply me. They send me email that ;

Hello ...............,
It has come to our attention that you have recently engaged employees of Poloniex using non-business social media sources, including LinkedIn.  We respectfully request that you do not engage employees using their personal social media accounts and only utilize official Poloniex Support channels, where official business is conducted.
We will look into your matter as quickly as possible, and we handle matters in the order in which they are received.  However, should you continue to engage with employees outside of official business channels, your account will be closed.
We very much appreciate your cooperation and respect for employee's privacy. Thank you.
Sincerely,
The Poloniex Compliance Team

You still don't understand your situation. You must afford you loss at beginning and only can hope for magic support from Poloniex.

They did not do anything wrong if they won't recover your crypto because of your mistakes. Imagine, please, that if they expose their private key just because of support for your case, and lose their big fund by hackers.

You can blame them that they have no or terrible support but you should know it is a very common support policy on exchanges. When you send your cryptocurrency to wrong address, wrong chain, please afford for your loss.

Support is the last hope you have but chance is extremely low and bump your topic here means nothing with Poloniex. I don't call 0.4 BTC has a small value but with exchange like Poloniex, they can get it easily from customer trading fees, within one day.

Hi, I really dont understand you. Why are you constantly defending the Exchange company? You can find lots of issue like me and exchange companies recover their bitcoin.  And I dont understand why they will lose their big fund. Poloniex dont support more OMNI protocol (30 April). They removed (OMNI) wallet from users account, I mean they dont have any fund on this private key.

I understand that I did mistake. For example you sent money to wrong IBAN from your bank, You can get you money back. its very simple, Banks help you because its possible..  I dont understand, What would you do if you were in my place ? ...

Please I dont want your advice more, because you dont want to give advice..

They announced that they will stop support Tether USD on OMNI layer (I don't check your posts but I recalled you gave the information in one of your posts or screenshots).

It is normal when they stop USDT-OMNI support as planned and announced weeks ago. It is not a personal attack on you and your account.

Regarding to your account and request to recover your crypto, as I and others said.

- You are not in a position to request and get 100% support from Poloniex. Not only about Poloniex but also about any other centralized exchanges. It is your lesson so please remember it and never make same mistakes.
- Poloniex shown some vague supports for you. You have only choice, try to bump your support ticket after a while sometime. It can be weekly, bi-weekly or monthly bump. However, don't bump your ticket every day as it is superb annoying.
- Lastly, afford your loss if Poloniex won't support you at the end.
- Wait and hope, but afford for your loss with the prob for loss is 80 to 90%.

Thank you for your reply. I will wait. I'm a little excited because of 23k $ big amount for me now..

Remember in the BEST of times Poloniex taking care of this in the in range of *MONTHS and MONTHS* not weeks.

The lack of display of any asset has nothing to do with anything. They halted trading / dealing with it. So it's no longer being shown.
And they can't give you access to your key if the exchange was built properly. There are layers and layers of security and audits before anything like that can be done.

The only thing you can do is wait.

-Dave

Thank you for your reply. I am worry not about of time line,  I am worrying about of that they ignored me I think.

I want to know this modification will affect my process or not ?
Whether they are delisting USDT or just preventing their users from using the OMNI protocol shouldn't change anything. They still own the private keys for their omni addresses so they can recover your bitcoins any time they want. Nothing to worry about, really. Just keep in touch with their support team.

I have question, They removed my Omni usdt wallet. Is it problem for me or not ?  How am I going to prove it ?
Honestly, I don't think they will deny that the address belongs to them just because it doesn't appear in your account anymore.

Thank you so much for your reply. I have to wait, ı understand that I dont have different way.  If they reply me I will post here.. ((

Hi, Still they didnt solved my issue. Today 33th day. When I opened ticket 0.4 bitcoin was 25k usd, now 20k usd ... I am tired of copy/paste replies. I'm starting to worry now Sad((

You might keep to bump your support ticket weekly or bi-weekly. Don't create any new support ticket and don't bump yours every day. It will be annoying and it only hurts your chance.

I want to know normally how long this recover process takes to finish ? I mean 1 month is normal for this.

I am wondering because of I have very little technical knowledge
..
Why does it take so long? Is it a very difficult process?

Thanks everybody.

The process itself is not difficult. The difficult part is doings it in a way that protects the private keys of the exchange. Most likely, the private keys of the various coins they support are kept separate, and the devs probably need to perform ETL tasks to move the private keys from the infrastructure of one coin to another. This is most likely done on an ad-how basis, and many tests and approvals will likely be needed to ensure that no information is leaking and that customer money is kept safe.

I would anticipate a delay lasting months, hopefully it won’t be that long. You should follow up with them periodically. Posting in this forum will not accomplish anything.

Hi, Thank you for your answer..

I know that posting here will not solve my problems, but I learned lots of think from another users. I'm just trying to find the safest way. I don't want to regret later why I didn't do this.

Thanks..
I would encourage you to remain patient and follow up with the support team periodically. I would say that following up more than once per week is probably excessive. You can keep your thread updated as well if you want, but doing so won’t do anything to speed up your case.

Hi, thank you for your reply...

I'm trying not to keep them busy. I didnt opened second ticket but their last reply 12 days ago.  I want to forget it but I can't, now it comes into my dreams . My psychology is broken Sad( I cant not do anythink.. If they give me my usdt wallet private key, I can recover myself but they dont give me my wallet private key.. really I dont understand why they dont give me private key...

They don't steal anything from you.

0.4 Bitcoin is 0.4 Bitcoin and it should be untouched by Poloniex. I believe they did not touch it. If they did not touch, they did not steal any Bitcoin or USD from you.

Please wait and beware of the risk on the side of Poloniex when they use private key to help you. You are not in the position to make demand on Poloniex and they are not in mandatory situation that they must help you.

Thank your for your reply, I didnt create second ticket. I always relpy them on my first ticket about of 25 days.

But still I dont understand, this OMNI changes will effect my process or not. Because they wrote me that after 30 April they will not support more omni ..

Is it bad for me ? thanks

Some thoughts.
1) Yes, covid is a bit of an excuse. But when you are talking about accessing CORPORATE private keys that probably contain a lot of money, you probably have to get several people in the same office at the same time for hardware verification and multisig. That has been slower due to the covid.

2) No longer supporting OMNI might actually be better. They might clear out all the old funds and use new keys just to make a clean cut from the old stuff.

3) As others have said there have been a few times in the past this has happened. Poloniex usually solved it. But it was months not days or weeks.
And now in addition to Covid, in the last 25 days you have had Easter, Passover, Hindi New Year and now we are in the middle of Ramadan. There just might have been fewer people around their offices over the last few weeks.

Good Luck.

Usually exchanges take several months to do this.

If it's configured properly it's not difficult to do at all, it's a SECURITY issue.

When you move funds like this you have people with the private keys to other peoples coins. So ANYTHING linked to those keys ANYPLACE in the exchange now has to be considered compromised and insecure and new keys have to be generated and the funds moved.

Obviously this is a very simplified explanation but that is usually why it takes so long.
