Thank you all for your replies.

I'm new here and I don't fully understand some of the points you are trying to make:

@olubams, so you mean that I should use the report button when a guy writes shit like the guy I quoted?

And then I think what rizzlarola is saying is that companies pay the site owner to run signature campaings and that at least some of them are a fraud. Maybe it is a promotion of an altcoin someone wants to pump and dump or maybe a "online mining" website or something similar running a ponzi scheme that will disappear when they get enough funds. Am I right?

I usually read other forums. In some of them I have an account and participate and in some of them I just read them. If I compare them to this forum it is cristal clear that what most people care about here is to write a lot so they can participate in signature campaings and make money.

Exactly right, but on a much bigger scale.

For the record, I have never been in a campaign.
Be careful how you view accounts here. When you say "most people" you really mean "1 or 2 people" - they just look like "many people"

Some further reading if you are interested.

I have read somewhere that in order to get high ranks you must use good English when writing but I think that is not the case at all.

I'm fed up with reading people I can barely understand. People who seem to be more worried about writing a certain number of comments rather than writing with clarity and quality.

I comment on this here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2110355.40

After the first comment, a guy who hasn't even read what I say (and who probably hasn't even read any comment) pours a shit instead of posting a comment: "Bitcoin have many advantage .But firstly you deside to which part you earn bitcoin.you can earn bitcoin from this forum. You need to follow some rules.Donot spam post  always try give anything to this forum.you have also knowledge about english because english is international  language.Finaly ragister an account this forum and try to posting or any comment .Never copy  to other .you can earn bitcoin from trading. I hope anyone can choise any part  earn bitcoin easily and reduce unemployment people.thanks"

His status is full member.

The two comments after that contain basic mistakes as well.

Do you really think good English matters at all? I've only been here like a week but I think it doesn't matter at all.

Although my English is quite good I'm not a native speaker so I was worried about my English but after seeing what I see every day I'm not worried any more.

You have really made a valid point and that's is what is being faced on the forum every day and that is why concerted efforts are made to actually reduce to a barest minimum comments that are not constructive enough to be heard. And also that is the reason why we have several boards to take care of non-native speakers in other to express themselves but the work is still needs to be done and that's why you see report bottom on each post in other to help in your own way.

I joined here recently to learn more about BTC and altcoins, and get the pulse of the scene. Unfortunately it's full of shills, crapflooders, and people who can't put together a coherent three-word sentence.

Mods aren't doing much either: I've reported a dozen posts with 100% accuracy, and think perhaps two have resulted in visible action (shut down threads). I just wrote a separate thread about a persistent abusive poster who keeps shilling on multiple altcoin threads - have reported him several times with 100% accuracy (whatever that means), no action taken.

Frankly I think leaving is the only option, unless you have the time and determination to wade through a metric ton of BS.

I saw your post, hope you reply to the pharmacist.
I have already left here, just pop back to try to warn the few real accounts here.

Can't let the theymos have it all his own way, after all his efforts.

I have my suspions about theymos and why the forum is allowed to be the way it is, but do you have any evidence of anything?
You need to read my posts/threads. Yes, there is evidence.

You don't get it do you.
If scams weren't tollerated, how could theymos scam you?
If shitposting was banned, real discussion could take place.

@rizzlarolla:  It isn't peanuts, and for someone with strong opinions and the ability to write properly,  it's not difficult work.  I was here 9 months before joining a campaign and I lurked before that.  You see people with activity=1 trying to join campaigns and it's disgusting because they see this corum solely as a cash register.

I have my suspicions about theymos and why the forum is allowed to be the way it is, but do you have any evidence of anything?   I said I haven't seen any, but it could be that I missed it.  As far as yahoo goes, yeah I respect him.  I haven't seen evidence of him being corrupt either.

You like the forum and want it to be better,  just like I do.  If you didn't, then you wouldn't care one way or another--just like me.  I can't understand why scams are tolerated and why shitposters aren't banned.  The only thing that seems to earn a ban is copy pasting, and that's ludicrous IMO.

The noise to signal ratio in this forum is at an all-time low since 2014 due to the influx of non-native English speakers joining signature campaigns. Also, campaign managers are not ignoring the problem. Actually, there is what we call the SMAS (Signature Managers Against Spam) that has a list of blacklisted profiles to join signature campaigns to avoid paid spam posts.

All time low or all time high? The noise just increases with the price of Bitcoin.

Oh, word. My bad about that. The SMAS is a start to *at least* lessen the spam that we currently are experiencing in this forum due to signature campaigns. By blacklisting some forum members that are proven to be spamming for the pay, the noise that we are encountering on EVERY thread could be lessen significantly since there would be no incentive for these people to post without thinking of what to write.

SMAS plays a small role, but the forum itself has to act against signature campaigns / campaign managers who ignore spam.

There should be an equal consequence for managers who don't review the profiles of their members before letting them in, and that would be an even better (and fair) way to combat spam by putting the consequence on both parties instead of just the spammer themselves.

Rizzlarolla, I rent out my signature space.  That is much different than shilling for shitcoins.  If I was doing the latter you would hear me talking about how new & innovative Xcoin is, but you don't, do you?

The fact is, we're on the same side, buddy.  We both dislike shitposters and scams.  We should not be against each other because I'm in a sig campaign.

Well Yahoo62278 is in smas, but he may have to accept crappy posters at the behest of the people he works for.  I'm not blaming him and I have yet to see evidence of him supporting account farming.   But man there are a lot of shitposters in the Social campaign.  And they keep applying even though the campaign is marked CFNP.

You are genuine. I don't blame you for renting out your sig space.

It is theymos who has driven this place so far into the ground that even decent people - you - take the scam dollar.
theymos will be the master profiteer. You work for peanuts to line his pockets, i strongly suspect.

You are blinded to yahoo. Another theymos gang master.

These accounts are made welcome here by theymos, the site owner, because they pay him for the right to scam here, earning much profits.
(shilling another no-hope alt in this case.)
Or theymos "allows" scam groups to freely farm account for their purposes.

You probably heard it from your friend or read it somewhere but you didn't read how messed up the forum is. I try to understand those people who can't convey their thought clearly in English but saying that you can't make any sense from it then that would be an actual problem. And @HeroC, you are right and some of the high ranking members surprised me by asking some newbie questions.

And here is another theymos controlled account.
This is one of hundreds of thousand of "hacked" - cough- accounts. https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/hundreds-of-thousand-of-bitcointalk-accounts-hacked-1826778 (no admin response)
Took 4+ years away, having lost the ability to speak English in his absence. apr 21, 2013 - jun 5, 2017

Don't know how he got accepted into that signature campaign in the first place--I thought yahoo was part of SMAS.

Yahoo has a fairly consistent record of employing these accounts, as well as farming accounts previously.
Who else would shill these scam coins. - oh, the pharmacist!

This whole site is now run to scam, in my researched opinion.
From the top down.

Most of the times I can make some sense of it, but I've been here like a week and I've seen other forum members complaining because they don't understand what someone says.

Thanks to The Pharmacist, I've recently remembered that writing quality posts and in good English are supposed to be useful to get accepted into signature campaigns (and not to get higher ranks). But campaign managers don't seem to be very strict regarding this matter.
Well that depends, I have had a few situations where campaign manager told me that he would love to have me at his campaign, that for past few days all he gets are submissions from "illiterate" people and if this rate continues he will be out of work. Basically, amount of good posters is limited, new ones are disqualified because of fresh accounts, older members are usually wearing some signature etc. They(managers) sometimes have no choice.

At first glance I thought you will be referring to crappy threads Smiley
Those about shoe size, favourite movie or amount of inches nature gave you  Roll Eyes are the best/worst.
I have been wondering why those are permitted, rules clearly say, no crappy subjects...
Anyway, welcome at the forums, have fun and stay safe.

There are so many people here who have wrong grammar or do not really understand what there's  say. Like me. Sometimes I'm mistaken because I'm not really smart yet when I'm in English language But I'm really trying to make it right. But others may learn to write correctly. And then the Campaign Manager will be strictly about here. For other members to be afraid of them. Because If did not fix their posting they could not join the campaigns

I agree with you OP.  There's no discussion on a forum where nobody reads and everyone is incentivized to post--and when people write nonsense all the time.

Your grammar an spelling skills have nothing to do with your rank, except for potential staff positions. To rank, all you need to do is post enough that your activity increases. There are lots of foreign language boards here too, and as you may imagine they don't have the best English. You can see how ranks are calculated here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/forum-rankspositionsbadges-what-do-those-shiny-coins-under-my-name-mean-178608.

Of course, I much *prefer* when people have a decent grasp of the language, but it isn't a requirement to be a part of the community.
