Well, if this guy actually invests 26 Billion USD on crypto currency then we will definitely see a huge spike in the market. I just hope he won't whale it up by sellin everything once the market is in an all time high then buying again when it is low. It would ultimately deoend on how he will move his investments. But the bottom line is, 26 billion dollars is a huge amount and will create ripples in the crypto currency market.

George Soros could definitely put a big dent on the value of bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. The problem is thinking that he already hasn't. Given the amount of capital he has, i wouldn't be surprised if news leaks out that he was already part and parcel of the spike that brought bitcoin to $20k. For all we know, he may have already cashed out and caused the price of bitcoin to tank at the levels we are experiencing today.

We cannot say that billionaires can invest in bitcoin. You know whats on the mind of any billionaire investor, they cannot take the risk on bitcoin. We cannot see what will happen if billionaires will invest on bitcoin.
Its scary if they enter in bitcoin market because they can actually control the price movement of bitcoin. Billionaire thinks in different way, they might innovate their own coin so they can compete with bitcoin. There's a positive and negative effects in the market if a greedy billionaire enter the market, so I'm not looking for that moment to lose my own money because of that big whale.

Yeah I think that because bitcoin is more like a currency / store of value, it's going to be really interesting if it eats into the notional value of gold (in the trillions, 4 or 5 trillion?) or into the notional value of FOREX (in the quadrillions).

I don't have a crystal ball, but the numbers get nuts really fast.

Bitcoins current price reflects what the Market thinks right now what the future value is (in tension), so right now the Market doesn't agree .... but the higher the price goes (if the liquidity and volume is there too), the more bitcoin can do and the higher it can go.

Then this Billionaire:  George Soros is considered as one of the richest big whales in the market that uses wealth to maneuverer the Bitcoin prices after he had termed it to be Bubble, that he now understands the potentials and rudiments of these Cryptos in the market which is a bit fair since prices will spike because of scarce demands for Bitcoin, but would not be very appropriate in the cryptoworld, because no matter the price surge, the downtrend volatility is eminent and shall equally soon surfaces. However, I don't think there should be any cause for alarm other than the individual should maintain self integrity on any scenarios that ramificate against this arena.

There activities both on the time they bought bitcoin and sell their holding has positive and negative effects on the value of bitcoin and they some times refers to as whale buyers and sellers.
Why they give effect? because in the crypto market that affects the price is demand and supply, buy and ask.
and the billionaires have a lot of capital that can manipulate it. so they have more effect in the crypto market

Most of you have probably heard about George Soros a billionaire who is reportedly taking an interest in cryptocurrency trading. Just before this event, he's been negative on bitcoin, calling it a bubble and etc, but with his sudden interest now in trading with his $26 billion assets, I guess we could probably say that he saw the potential of cryptocurrencies.

How do you think will this affect the market and all the user of cryptos? Can we expect a price spike in the market then after a while, a sudden downtrend movement again?

he is just one of those people who had an interesting story about joining the bitcoin community, surely, if he decided to invest in cryptocurrencies, the effect would vary on how much he will invest and the effect on bitcoin popularity will i think add up more trust rating and somehow will make billionaires like him to really think about bitcoin and consideration of putting some of their assets in this very remarkable invention as far as digital wealth is concern.

This billionaire investors or whale will actually help the market to improve even more, if most of the whales are going to invest a huge amount today in the market then the prices will probably rise up again.

all of these predictions can happen and may also have an effect on the future crypto price economy, but I do not really think about it if it happens to stem the price for what, if the goal is to buy as much bitcoin for buying and selling because of economic potential and profit, Simple logic people choose to trade with menbeli diharga cheap selling diharga tinggi, may be useful do not panic success for us all

Let's not confuse trading and investing. The CNBC and Bloomberg articles both recite the same statement: internal approval to trade virtual currencies. The crypto media is putting a more positive slant on it. I didn't see mention of hedge fund investment. We shouldn't automatically assume the money Soros puts into the market will be net positive. Trading includes margin shorting, puts, calls, options, etc and not just buying spot and investing.

And remember, Soros is famous for shorting the markets. He famously made billions of dollars by shorting the pound in the 90s. He's bet heavily against the S&P 500 and Nasdaq more recently. I'm not saying that's what he plans to do here, but everyone here seems to think he'll just dump $26 billion into BTC or something. That's unlikely. Tongue

Its a welcome news for Bitcoin, still, the question is, when they are investing, how much amount of investment they willing to put in for Bitcoin? This news  is not actually unusual for Bitcoin, some whales are already invested in Bitcoin with low key names, everyone is interested in Bitcoin investment, it is just a matter of time when almost everybody is into crypto currency investment.

Most likely he knew about the huge potential of the crypto currency, even when he called the crypto currency a bubble, he just did not tell anyone about it.

It will probably have a big affect to the market specially in bitcoin if he puts some of his funds to invest in crypto it will make a huge up for all the altcoins in the market and it will break the down trend so if that happen other investors will do it the same because George soros is known billionaire.

I'm not going to doubt any billionaire that said they are negative about cryptocurrency. Jamie Dimon did even said bitcoin was a fraud before but look on what he did. He put hyped just for their own interest and get managed to buy bitcoin while it's very cheap.

It will bring positivity as we are all looking up to the richest people and what they say are gold for us. And if he give advice and says "buy bitcoin" it's positive to us.

Can we expect a price spike in the market then after a while, a sudden downtrend movement again?
I guess so.

There’s a lot of pros and cons for a billionaire investor. Possible effect of it is, the money involved is too high. We know if we invest too high, bitcoin price becomes high, we should know what would be the positive effects of billionaires. We should encourage billionaires to make bitcoin value high and high

The amount of money he will invest in the market is just a case of speculation, being a billionaire does not mean that he is going to trade his billions into the market, these reports gets main stream attention all the time and i do not understand the reason for these, i do not see any potential effect and if you are looking for any movement, you need to see more billionaire investing all in tandem. With many investor will join on cryptomarket and with big funds, I am believe cryptomarket will spike again and maybe it can reach highest market cap like a few months ago. Beside that, many people will more confidence to investing their money on cryptomarket

No one has any more authority than anyone else. Anyone who wants to use bitcoin can. George Soros can't stop you from using bitcoin and you can't stop him either. Fair money.

I think the question was more about the effect on price if a trader like Soros (with his $26 billion) entered the market. And the answer is, we have no idea, because we don't know whether he's bullish or bearish, or what instruments he's interested in.

He was a bully on Bitcoin calling it a bubble constantly, whether it was on articles or twitter, it sparked up rumors and FUD. He possibly already tried to manipulate the market by his sayings, it's not a lie that it did affect the price. How can we possibly know that he isn't trying to manipulate the market again by flooding it with cash, rising the price, then selling and crashing it back down?

People dismissing Bitcoin as a bubble haven't had much effect on its price, historically. Smiley

In the other hand, millionaires and billionaires could be attracted due to this event, how about the economy people? They have a bigger effect on the market and let's be honest around 79%-85% are consists of economy family, and I do belong to it, (No discrimination on my mind), though point is if money keeps coming on market not only ICO taking all the money and disappear before their token reach the market exchange, BTC value will increase and so as the others and when this happens, this is paradise.

and yeah... they have the potential factor to affect the BTC price with their awesome money.
