Most of you have probably heard about George Soros a billionaire who is reportedly taking an interest in cryptocurrency trading. Just before this event, he's been negative on bitcoin, calling it a bubble and etc, but with his sudden interest now in trading with his $26 billion assets, I guess we could probably say that he saw the potential of cryptocurrencies.

How do you think will this affect the market and all the user of cryptos? Can we expect a price spike in the market then after a while, a sudden downtrend movement again?

According the demand and supply, if that Billionaire buy Bitcoin with a very huge volume, then it means there is much need for Bitcoin, and hereby, the price of Bitcoin will tend to be uptrend, because there will not have more supply than previous, and there we can get advantage of it of course, if we have bitcoin we can sell it Smiley But for other option, the price can decrease as well, because if the price is over, what if majority of people sell bitcoin, in that time the price will go down, which means the fluctuation of the value continues step by step.

the first is certainly increasingly attract people to bitcoin. they also want to be billionaires, when looking at billionaires made from bitcoin. when interest gets bigger, it will certainly make bitcoin prices increasing, and continue to be popular.

Billionaire can use their money power and influential in investments. Look at how Goerge Soros used his strengths in order for him to invest in crypto. Before he lend his money in bitcoin, he said a  lot negative and bad effects of bitcoin to the humanity. Hence, the people who follows Soros made it as basis for them to stay away and withdraw in bitcoin. However, I think he made it because he want to invest more in a lower price.
Influence + money = more profits. That's how I think in some whales in cryptocurrency, not just whales but influential people.

Off course these kind of people can make great moves into the crypto currency when it comes to the big assets. Just imagine man 26 billion dollar in todays date is around 20% of the whole market cap of the bitcoin.  Grin
If George sneezes then I am pretty sure he can move the market by 5K USD +/- depending on what he is doing whether he is selling the equivalent amounts or buying the same. Thats all about the money and it has the greatest power that you can imagine with this act. So yeah if many people like this come together then can bless the whole market otherwise they can make it loose too.

There is a big impact when a billionaire invest in cryptocurrency. Probably, the price may pull out and the demand will strongly push. In fact, manipulation of market price can be done by a billionaire man. If he will buy bitcoins a lot, bitcoin price will surge. If he will sell all of his cryptos then it may change the game.
Popular people like George Soros spread a FUD news in bitcoin because he wanted to invest in a lower price. That's how a popular can fool ordinary people when it comes in business and trading.

Many people become billionaires thanks to bitcoin profits because they are terrible night. When you have a lot of money you are not afraid of losing money but boldly.

If he enters crytpo currency trading with him the knowledge of how does trading works, then he surely will be one of the guys who will be called the whale. People will track his moves and what will he do regarding the market situation. But it's a good news for now, if he puts those billions of dollars to the buy orders of BTC. We will have to wait, hope there are more people entering like him.

Although from what I read, he isn't investing all the $26 billion

Of course not. Firstly, someone being worth like $26 billion doesn't mean he has that exact amount in liquid capital, where secondly, these traditional billionaires never pump tremendous amounts of capital into something they see as a plaything. I very much doubt that he will allocate even $10 million to be invested in crypto, especially because of how much of a new and speculative market it still is for him. People shouldn't forget that these traditional billionaires more often than not don't see any good in Bitcoin because it lacks intrinsic value according to them. While I am mildly optimistic about this, I am maintaining my conservative stance till I see an actual change for the better. In this market you can't take anything for face value, that the market has taught us throughout the years....

Sometimes is good to read previous posts, and then you will see that Soros net worth in not 26 billion $,but only 8 billion $.He donated 18 billions $ to his philanthropic agency and that money is now allegedly in the service of some greater good, not for investments of any kind.

I agree he and some of his people who are engaged in investments will not invest no significant amount of money in cryptocurrency, therefore I think it would be better not to take this news seriously.Considering Soros past it would be best that he never invests even one cent in BTC.

I assume that his involvement in trading will be minimal in that it will be a small part of what he invests in. I’m not clear on whether the trading he will be doing will be personal investment or part of his business, but either way, I suspect that he will just be adding this as just another way to diversify. There are plenty of other millionaires and billionaires already investing in cryptocurrencies, so I don’t think it will make a huge impact other than further legitimizing Bitcoin.

The market of bitcoin is sort of a perfect competition where one individual seller/buyer's share in the market is insignificant. The demand and supply forces determine the prices, that means, buyers and sellers will throw for different rates, until both ends meet, price is influenced by that.
Just because George Soros has $26 billion assets, doesn't necessarily change the price. I bet not even 10% of crypto users even know him. No one cares. The news, the more exciting and factual ones help in affecting the price.

Let's not confuse trading and investing. The CNBC and Bloomberg articles both recite the same statement: internal approval to trade virtual currencies. The crypto media is putting a more positive slant on it. I didn't see mention of hedge fund investment. We shouldn't automatically assume the money Soros puts into the market will be net positive. Trading includes margin shorting, puts, calls, options, etc and not just buying spot and investing.

And remember, Soros is famous for shorting the markets. He famously made billions of dollars by shorting the pound in the 90s. He's bet heavily against the S&P 500 and Nasdaq more recently. I'm not saying that's what he plans to do here, but everyone here seems to think he'll just dump $26 billion into BTC or something. That's unlikely. Tongue

If I was him, I would just put some of money into cheap coins, in old ones, who been here  for 3 or more years and everyone heard about them. Then I would talk with their CEO about upcoming events and offer them my help. And then I would just start invest in advertisement and do it till it will not create an tendetion, then I will just start selling my coins in 4 steps (to not create panic and get midle result).

Two effects will as usual.

Good - when he put billions of his assets to cryto or to bitcoin to be specific then that will pump the market.

Bad - another manipulator will come and expect that when it reaches highs, expect that he will take profit in billions too.

If he invest all his asset worth of $26 Billion into cryptos then surely it will make a spike in the crypto currency field. Cheesy

But I don't think he will,I consider this as just a rumour created by someone who want to make green in the crypto market after the long red days.

This news of George soros is a good news because such controversial billion is going to bring some attraction, attention and confidence in the market. Although from what I read, he isn't investing all the $26 billion but taking a decision to venture in as a critic will help in the media and more trust will be regained in the social webs like facebook, google, youtube , twitter etc.
