Gambling addiction is now very widespread and people are getting addicted to gambling and it is seen that many children are also addicted to gambling now. So getting rid of it has become very difficult because gambling platforms are advertising themselves and promoting with influencers in such a way that people cannot avoid gambling. But a good way to get rid of it can be to keep yourself busy with various activities. And less use of social media because gambling platforms promote themselves the most through social media
Gambling sites are easily accessible, that's one of the drivers that many people become fond of gambling, it doesn't matter actually as long as it's with limits, but what happens is that they don't know the limits so it makes it difficult for them.
Now, who doesn't have a cell phone? Even children have their own cell phones, and once they have it in their hands, they will find out things that they didn't know before, including gambling sites.
Advertising is also the same, this is my experience, that every time I open social media, or anything related to the internet, I will definitely find promotions.

Making your life even busier with more things. You can do everything you want to forget it. Hang out with your family or playing something that will make you able to stay away with your gadget or pc. You shall think about how to avoid the thing that mostly used by you to play gambling.
TBH, anything will need process, but it can become the easiest way to lowering your addiction to the gambling. There must be an intention that came from yourself to stop your addiction.

You can't stop it instantly but you can stay away from it gradually.

Absolutely, you are correct  keeping in touch with friends, family, loved ones would definitely help alot and also going out at will to catch fun other than that would  help but doing away with your gadget most times is difficult most when you are mostly a Tech guy constantly online doing your job would definitely  put you up for it but of one can take a step to disabling the site from their browser and adds I think it would go along way to help mitigate the gambling addiction.

The only way to stop online gambling is, you must have strong self-control and strong desire. An alternative is to find a high-paying job. Most gamblers are playing because of profit. They want a higher income, more money. High paying job could fulfill that, not just that, a high-paying job will surely keep you busy. For me, these two is the most effective way to stop gambling but it still depends on someone's behavior.

I am not sure that finding a high-paying job can be an alternative here, some people will just gamble even more. People can replace gambling with many other activities, but before finding an alternative people need to wish for some changes first. If someone doesn't wish to change their gambling habit nothing can help I am afraid.

So there's only one possible measure, a real wish for something other than gambling... instead of spending your money in a casino spend it on something else. Simple as that.

We can prevent gambling addiction if we ourselves know what we are doing when we enter a gambling game. It's only a problem when a gambler experiences the temptation of winning at an online casino.

This is the tactic of the house edge in crypto gambling that they found to be effective because casinos are able to make a gambler who is a novice gambler addicted to gambling until a player has an addiction to a casino.

And less use of social media because gambling platforms promote themselves the most through social media

This age is not the time a youth would turn his or eyes from social media because every information, knowledge or aware you need is on social media and internet. If someone turns away from social media and the internet, the person is simply turning himself off from what is happening around him and the outside world. If a lesser use of social media will be the answer to stopping gambling addiction then such person is not ready to stop yet. It involves a personal effort to zero one's mind off it so that even when those ads are thrown at you, you are so going to keep on concentrate on whatever it is you were engaged with.

I am of the opinion that since gambling sites are mostly online and some has adds that pops up as advert on visited site, one should be able to disable or change their browser settings  by blocking casino adds
This advertisements are unavoidable, even if you block casino advertisement on your browser, there is still a chance to see it pop up elsewhere on your phone or when you use another app with internet connection that is not your browser. These days some of these apps allow advertisements on them as a way for them to make extra.

disabling  gambling sites on their browser settings so as not to gain access to it anymore till the number of days they deem fit to their resolve.
Serious addicted gamblers lack discipline in general, even if they disable access to gambling sites, and they do it themselves, In serious cases where they really feel like to gamble, they can still enable the access easily, to satisfy that urge.

This was just a little tip I gave as a possible solution.
It is a possible solution, but not everyones solution.

Here is it;

I am of the opinion that since gambling sites are mostly online and some has adds that pops up as advert on visited site, one should be able to disable or change their browser settings  by blocking casino adds and as well disabling  gambling sites on their browser settings so as not to gain access to it anymore till the number of days they deem fit to their resolve. This was just a little tip I gave as a possible solution. I had to put it up here for further discussions so that the bigger community can see it as  well.

I have seen a suggestion like this more than a couple of times, and to be honest with you, i see nothing special about it, forgive me but don't understand my opinion the wrong way, its a good suggestion really, but why i said its not special is because, it is not something that will work for every addicted gambler that applies it, and need i say that it can only work for a very limited few, and that few must be people who are not really really deep in gambling addiction, for those who are chronic addicts, this can not work, they can block the sites and so on, but trust me, when the urge comes, they will come back and unblock what ever site they have previously blocked and carry out their gambling activity like they always do.

My understanding is to do browser settings and disable gambling sites, not fully successful in overcoming gambling addiction,  someone is already obsessed with gambling many factors and things to consider, the browser I think step at the very bottom, if you want to overcome addiction.

I believe if the users who are here, of course who have accounts advertising gambling sites, deactivate the browser I think it won't work, because they still see the crypto gambling sites they advertise here every day, I think the steps you are talking about are suitable for those who don't have a BTT account here, maybe it makes sense to overcome addiction, but for those who have a BTT account here it seems difficult to make settings in the browser to overcome addiction.

What about a crypto wallet or centralized exchange that promoting gambling ads? your intention isn't want to gamble, but you're need to accept the fact you will see any gambling ads in everywhere. Installing ads block will not work, after all self control and committing to stop gamble are the best way.

A gambling addict should seek a professional to take care of him.

A Bitcoiner chooses. A slave obeys.
I have seen several topics here and other discussion thread where many people talked about gambling addiction. So many procedures been stated to follow sequentially to reduce the rate at which one frequently visit online gambling sites and possibly their application if they do have any of them.

I remember in one of the threads I raised up a point which was long hidden as the thread became too numerous and lengthy to continue the conversation on that topic. It was my opinion to add up in profering solutions to gambling addiction. I believe not too many people saw it to to say something about it so that is why I had to bring it up as a topic hear. I want to hear your opinion and ideas towards it.

If you feel or think here is not the right place for this you can say it. I am open to corrections as we all are here to learn.

Well then by your very own logic the entire bitcointalk website should be avoided? Or all the avatars and signatures should be turned off? That would look quite boring, to be honest.  Grin

The real problem are not advertisements but the lack of discipline with which people like to throw their money around. Do not bet more than you can afford to lose. That is a very simple-to-follow formula for avoiding addiction. Furthermore you can add your own rules, like: Do not bet more than X times a week/month.

But people ignore their own rules and do what they want. Then they end up losing their entire life's savings and blaming it on gambling instead of blaming themselves.

I believe that the majority of gamblers are not that undisciplined.

Yes. I think that everyone's situation is different and depends on the individual and the circumstances they find themselves in. I agree that many (most) gamblers are attracted by the potential for easy money, and I believe that individuals who struggle with their financials are generally more susceptible to falling into the trap of gambling addiction, but that's not the only reason imho.
For example, to escape from everyday monotony or stress, to experience the thrill of risk-taking, or even as a way to cope with some psychological issues. So there can be various underlying factors driving someone towards gambling.

It's not an effective way to many, but it can help a few, if you're in a country where gambling is legal and there are sponsorships you're likely to get curious to bet online, there are a lot of ways to get you to gamble online like you get an invite from a friend or you happen to see a banner while you are out about gambling site that offers bonus.

The best way to combat addiction is to deal it within your character and if you're into a lot of things like you have a hobby where you spend most of your time or you are studying and you are dedicated to your goal, your dopamine is concentrated on what you're currently doing that gambling ha sno place on it, so even if there are gambling ads pops up you can deal with it.

Activating the ad filter can allow you to avoid advertisements appearing when visiting various sites. That can be one of the solutions not to feel attracted to visiting casino sites because our attention will be diverted from what we are looking for and will avoid the casino. But those who don't care about the advertisements and can still limit their gambling time won't be tempted to visit the casino because they already have their gambling time. I think people can use any method they are comfortable with and will seek it out where they can.

You're right, we easily get attrated to things we often see everytime, in the case of gambling, if the gsm ker encounter any thing that draws his attention back to gambling, such could be an avenue to go back to where he left and continue gambling, but nevertheless, we have to make a decision and also work towards abstaining from anything that will have to do with gambling enabling environment which could grabt us access to gamble, with hen everything around us is not working towards have the opportunity to gamle, we will be left with no choice than to embrace not gambling.

There are many possible measures to reduce the intensity of gambling addictions on an addict but none of those are 100% workable only every addict. There are measures like completely cutting the internet connection of a gambler so that he/she will not be able to access those sites and the gambling addiction will end up slowly when the addict find physical things more.

But, most of such measures won't give you 100% results as most of them will work only when the requirements are there and when such gambling addicts get access to internet then his/her gambling urge will reawake and the addiction will be much more intense then the previous time.

I only working and effective treatment to gambling addiction or any other type of addiction is to make some proper disciplinary rules for the addicts and change their attention from gambling to something else each day. For some addicts physical relationship works as a remedy while for others sports may be a better cure. There is still no guarantee that those addicts will give up on the addiction forever.

This is a very nice idea by you and I feel it would really help gamblers reduce their risk of getting addicted to it, but I feel this won't really have much effect on an already addicted gamblers because it takes self discipline for a gambler to follow your suggestion and stick to it and that's one thing an addicted gambler lacks, they're already deeply soaked into the act and most times some don't even know or won't likely accept the fact that they're addicted to the act, what this people need is encouragement from friends and family with constant advice with patients to help them change.
Except maybe ttheyve got a close friend or family that's got access to their devices, who would help them disable their browsers settings against gambling activities or online ads then it would be very helpful, because the last thing most addicted gamblers would do is stop things that would led them to gambling, some even go extra miles to steal and satisfy their addiction, however this method would really help people that's newly discovered their addiction for gambling and not for those who are deeply in the act because the most effective means of helping an addicted gambler is therapy.

Seriously gambling addicting is kind of difficult to stop, which i don't think things which you listed can really stop gambling addiction, the best thing is not to be addicted to gambling. If a addicted gambler really wants to stop the addiction, the first thing he should do is be dedicated to stop gambling, some gamblers just keep on saying they want to stop gambling, but they are not really determine to stop it. If you really want to stop addiction, then you have to keep yourself busy always, you have to spend less time on your mobile device, if you have the mindset of making money from gambling, you have to change the mindset, and get something doing which can earn you money, do things that makes you happy always.

Are you sure that this method will help to stop online addiction while he can still see the ad even though he has made settings on his browser, for example I once played at my sister's house where she also often plays online gambling, I use wifi at her house then I access For some reason, my social media has a lot of gambling ads popping up on my social media.

It shows that it doesn't work in browser settings only, but there is another way for the ad to appear, namely never use the gambler's wifi because automatically what we access on social media using a cellphone still appears gambling adverts and I see them more often now, but for me it won't be a problem because I'm not an addict, I just gamble for fun, talking about addiction seems to have been discussed a lot here and it will never end, if you want to quit addiction maybe it can be helped to change the mindset of the addict.

One best solution is to cut the internet connection.  Without online access, that obviously stops online gambling addiction.
This is also the method that I think is the most effective  Grin
