My vote is for a coin swap if the decision hasn't been made already.
IMO simply clone the coin with fair parameters (no premine, good diff adjustment), no need to watch out for any bagholder's (dev included) feelings.
Most of this coins success would of been the name however. If you clone it you have to call it something completely different.
Many of the old timers still remember the JackpotCoin name.
Would we be able to have access to the genesis block and everything if we were to take over and relaunch? Should I PM the old dev's username here?
I have noticed just really slow sync of wallet and sometimes not responding / error .
Whats it going to take to fix the old chain? Anyone know whats wrong with it specifically?

Nope he means theres no point in making the new blockchain under the same name and using the old logo. Its equal to creating a new coin from scratch, and enables those that posses the old one to swap to a new revision but its irrelevant now nobody wants it. That takes 20 minutes but is pointless who cares about someones old coins sitting in an old wallet on a dead truncated and stalled chain.

I see in the debug log where my Jackpotcoin Ver1.5 tries to connect to your node at 138.197.159.60 However the log says that the connection was rejected. Just fyi, the port for Jackpotcoin is 15371
maybe 2 ro 3 is better .

You could always do a hostile takeover. It depends on the miners, not the dev, which blockchain will prevail.
That might be an asshole move though.
