With the way Brighton spent money this off-season, it would be weird if they ended up getting something less anyways. I believe we are going to see this changing for the long term and that wouldn't really be a big deal at all, it would be a normal situation without a doubt.
We need to focus on how to get better deals on the long run, and for that to work out we can't really be considering how to make that move. I believe we need to consider how Brighton is doing good, fifth place is of course great, but we can't say it was unexpected, based on the transfers and the amount of money they were spending, it was obvious from the start of the season that they were aiming at getting a good result this season, hence why they spent that much money.
The big investments Brighton made last summer truly look worth it after this season's performance. Currently second, with 25 points already in their bag, they demonstrate their ability to vie for the top position in the Premier League. For a club that was not seen to be this competitive at this level, this is certainly a big step, but only with more investment in January.
On the other hand, if they wish to emerge at the very top of the table, Brighton must do better in terms of consistency. Presently, it is Liverpool who continue to register a very impressive performance, having collected a total of 31 points. Therefore, it gets much tougher. Brighton must not just keep performing well but also get used to pressured difficult games in the next half of the season. Should they be able to keep up this level of performance, we can't rule out the possibility that Brighton could become one of the new major forces in the Premier League.
And now the match is underway between Brighton and Southampton, the first half is over and one goal for Brighton so they can take the lead first, but one goal is not enough to ensure victory tonight, in the second half Brighton needs to increase their advantage, especially what they are facing now is not a strong team, but a team that is at the bottom of the standings.
because with quite tight competition at the top of the standings, the team must not only excel in terms of points, but also goal difference.
