Yes you have basic reasons that you say they can't be said to be better than the previous season. Indeed we can not compare between pre-season matches and the actual competition. I cant say their game is better than what they've played last year based on the pre-season results. They did win their pre-season matches including the one against Liverpool but I dont think they are better now. The real league will be much different as what you say, and I dont think what they have done in pre-season is not enough to prove that they will be competitive with the other top EPL clubs such as City, Liverpool, Chelsea, and others. They might be good enough as mediocre team but they are not that good as top team in EPL.

About Maguire I think it is Erik ten Hag's responsibility because it was Erik ten Hag himself who asked Maguire to stay, if later the Manchester United defense went into chaos then I believe Maguire might be eliminated as a player who is more on the bench and or immediately sold. But if Maguire really can change for the better then of course, Manchester United's defense will be strong and that will be a big hope and also, giving the captain's armband to Maguire I think it's something that is not right.

I doubt if Nunez will be able to fill the void left by Name in the Liverpool team.Mane was a combative player,that knows everything about the premier league,and also knew how to score goals,while Nunez is coming from Benfica where they play a different pattern of football altogether.The football they play there is not as combative as that of the English premier league,and that is why every player who comes from other league will find it difficult to find the back of the net most often.
It is true that Nunez is a nice and decent player who scoreds reguarly for Benfica.But he needs to work hard to become a better player in England.

I think Klopp already considering about this and last season Diaz has playing well on Mane position even compare to the performance between these two players for half season i think Diaz very much better so i think that's why Liverpool dare to release Mane especially Diaz salary lower than Mane's salary and regarding new player Darwin Nunez since Suarez leaving the team Liverpool don't have any pure centre striker and i think for next season Liverpool want to change their strategy with makes Nunez as the finisher and Salah and Diaz or Jota as winger so let's see whether this will be effective or not because in the last pre season matches Nunez seems difficult to adapted with Liverpool game

Actually it is still better if it happens now because it is still in pre-season so Harry Maguire can immediately fix this before the season starts because it can also be used as a new experience and also a lesson for Harry Maguire before the season starts. IMO Sadio Mane wasn’t going to renew his contract ahead of next season when his contract was set to expire. So they didn’t want him to go for free, so they had to cash in on him. I understand he was an important player to the team and given how important he was to the team, it makes perfect sense for Liverpool fans to be wary of life after him. It took vision, foresight and a brilliant recruitment policy to get in Salah and Mane to play alongside Roberto Firmino and it worked. By next season, I know that Klopp will be stringing together a whole new leading line.

Yes you are right, from what I have seen many people are so confident that Darwin Nunez will be able to replace Sadio Mane, in the sense that he will be successful at least Liverpool will not feel the loss of a player who helped them the last few seasons (Sadio Mane). But I myself hope that Nunez will repay that trust with a good performance, to ensure that Liverpool do not regret losing Mane.

IMO I don’t think Liverpool actually need Antony now. Liverpool just tied Mohamed Salah down to a new three-year mega deal. And Salah also operates in Antony's favourite position, out wide on the right-hand side. So there won’t be much play time for him if he goes to Liverpool. Shaqiri and Minamino spent a lot of years in Liverpool and couldn’t see playing time. It’s not the right time for him to move to Liverpool. Rejoining his former manager in Manchester United might be the best move for him since he already knows his work ethics and how he want to use him in his team.
