Being a good player and a leader on the pitch and in the dressing room doesn't mean you'll automatically be a coach. Of course, your experience will help you lead a team in the best way. But then you need to have the mentality of a coach, be able to put together the pieces you have and form a tactic that can bring good results.
Lampard has just started, and of course he has a lot of time to grow as a coach and show what he is capable of. And maybe with some tweaks to the squad, he could show some of that next season.
