Here's what I'm thinking...  Looking at the lines, how can Liverpool win by a lot of points vs City last season and still be the underdog vs City to win the EPL this season.  Huh

Mathematics and statistics. Liverpool have been overperforming in terms of expected points and goals, whereas City have been severely underperforming in the same departments. Bookies are mathematicians at the end of the day and they are expecting a return to mean this season, as they have been every season.

Me, I like to think both, and I'm happy with the underdog tag, always have been. Gives me good odds. There's math, and there's mentality, and there's teamwork, which don't seem to factor into odds;)

They lost the race early on, the points margin does not represent the true difference between these 2 teams.

On paper City has the better squad (more depth and variety) and it's normal that they are considered as favorites. Add to it that they are still negotiating for both Koulibaly and apparently Messi while Liverpool dropped out of the Werner deal and takes a long time to think about Thiago deal - therefore it's obvious that City will still strengthen while Liverpool might not.

If I had to put favorites for this season, it'd be City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Man Utd.

They dropped off to the end, were knocked out of the CL much earlier and City were on top form for the last month or so thrashing teams 4 and 5 nil including Liverpool. I think both teams will likely carry on their form for the next season with Liverpool being a bit shakey. I've just got a feeling City are going to run away with the league this year like Liverpool did, especially if they can sign Messi which if he is going to leave Barca City is where he will likely go. The first game against Leeds should be interesting. Liverpool should spank them, but if Leeds can get a point or more that could certainly be a cause for concern, and maybe give Leeds the confidence boost they need. Big teams can often be shaky at the start so nothing would surprise me.

Man City is too strong. No matter how many points Liverpool had made in the previous season, the overall strength of Man city is way too high. Moreover, the rumor is being spread that Messi will come and join Man City this season. If this becomes true, who can stop them from being the championship of the next season? Well, we can't say anything before the match, mostly in football because everything can happen. BUt you cant run away from the truth that they are the strongest team at the moment

If they sign Messi they’ll be favourites, 100%. I don’t see how they’re too strong atm though, does Nathan Ake pull back 18 points they were behind LFC last season, I don’t think so. David Silva has gone, Aguero & Fernandinho are another year older, 32 & 35.

They got humiliated in the CL by Lyon & they lost 9 games in the PL last season, they are far from unbeatable. They still haven’t replaced Kompany, there isn’t one leader in that team. When it’s going well, sure they’re great but when things go against them they are not a fighting team.

Is Messi really going to Manchester City? This will make City a prime candidate to win the Premier League title this season..Messi fits perfectly into City's style of play
I feel like this is too much, even the league hasn't played the first match Smiley.
Everything can changed, even though Pep has coached at Barcelona, it is not certain that Messi is suitable with other Man City squad to support him to look great in the team.

Is Messi really going to Manchester City? This will make City a prime candidate to win the Premier League title this season..Messi fits perfectly into City's style of play

They're already a prime candidate to win the premier league but one player is never going to guarantee you results. Messi didn't win Barca the La Liga or stop them getting stuffed by Bayern this year. Messi's style of play may not fit in well with the Premier League as well. No idea how he's going to fair in such a league. He's really not going to like a lot of the tough tackles and I think a lot of players will give him a hard time just to prove a point or because they think he's a primadonna. Regardless, I'd still like to see him at City and I do think he would be a huge boost to their team. I really just can't see him leaving Barca though. I think this is just a huge power play by him. Apparently the new manager allegedly said to him he wasn't going to get any special treatment and maybe that caused him to throw is toys out of the pram. I'm sure there will just be a huge shake up behind the scenes and Messi getting his own way and subsequently staying put. It's just going to be too messy otherwise (excuse the pun). There will probably be a long legal battle if he does try to leave especially since the clause in his contract that allows him to leave has allegedly expired, but who knows what that means due to the extension of the league due to coivd. City won't be able to stump up the fee Barca want otherwise so the only option is him likely going there for free.

Well if Messi moves to City, with few fix in their defence line and with Mehrez and De Bruyne, Chelsea will need to play with 15 players to avoid losing with 3 goals Tongue
But honestly Chelsea is doing great in building its team, we will see how efficient will be soon  Wink

If he joins man city, I am not sure if messi's playing style can fits with English football.
di maria and ozil, they are a stylish player. they failed.
aguero, he is a fighter. he can fit with english football style.

also if he joins man city, he will be under Ronaldo's shadow.

there will be 2 conditions if messi really join man city.
1. messi fail, he will be bullied by the world. it proves that Barcelona helps him all this time.
2. man city play well with Messi (win a trophy, let say UCL). it proves that messi helps Guardiola all this time.

Liverpool, Manchester City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal and even Mourinho's Tottenham are title contenders.

Thank you for thinking Spurs are title contenders hehe;) I am a fan, so I love my team but if you ask any of us, for sure we will never dare to say we have a chance of winning the league. But no harm to try, and we remember how Leicester did it, one game at a time, and take advantage when others stumble!

If that happens then Manchester City will be very strong in the EPL this season but I hope it will Grin Pep Guardiola will be able to set up a more perfect strategy up front to attack quickly.

Chelsea need a change in players but in this transfer season it has to be able to choose which one is better to show if a young player who fits Lampard's criteria fits perfectly.

I know how that happened, just seen a top secret transcript of phone conversation between Lampard and Abramovich.

Chelsea are adding a lot of players in a short time, it’s difficult to buy so many & expect them to gel straight away.
It might take a while to build team chemistry & know each others game.

yeah, but they are already one of prime candidates, Liverpool had season that is not easy to repeat, and this year will be more interesting for sure, with City as prime candidate for the title (i am not a fan, but just realistic)
with Messi they could mess up their football, since he is a bit old for Premier league football tempo, and will require to be the main player in the team, which is not easy in his age, and with tempo as in Premier league, there is significant difference compared to La liga

usually, you play Premier league at young age, and Calcio and La liga when you are nearing 30-ties, and Messi is already above 30-ties, so think that City would be a mistake

Haha totally, Btw they are also interested in Messi as well according to some reports. I don't see any progress towards Havertz deal so I think perhaps they have shifted their interest towards Messi now maybe.

There is too much focus on Messi right now and things are getting slow. City are on pole position in Messi race but Barcelona also doesn't wants to let him go. Feels like it's gonnaa take a long time.

I support Liverpool. Right now I dont have any prediction yet because Im still waiting for the market transfer results. There will be a lot of change in the next year. Mostly because Messi has already claimed he's going to leave Barcelona. Pep Guardiola also invites him to come over Man city - according to many media. If it truly happens, Man city will become the strongest competitor and its hard for any team want to become the Championship

Well, really want to see what will happen in the next few weeks

Don't underestimate teams like Chelsea. They have been very busy in the transfer market and have currently packed a suite of armory for next season. I won't be surprised if they pose a serious threat in the 2020/2021 campaign.  As much as I would love to see Liverpool winning the title for the second time, it won't be as easy as it was. We're in for yet another action packed premier league season!

Liverpool, Manchester City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal and even Mourinho's Tottenham are title contenders.

It was tough few seasons for you Gunners fans.

Yeah it was totally. Things were more disastrous when Emery was there but he was sacked. This was all with the managing style and players with calibre being given a chance. Arteta came in and changed that. He obviously took time but he switched Ceballos in place of Guendouzi and things went better. He gave Saka more chances and if I recall correctly there was a time when Emery used to roll Saka in defence.

It was really wierd. I really lost my hope with Arsenal but I can smell things changing around and this time we might have a shot for better finish. Even lifting PL would be great but there are so many big hurdles so kinda leave that into my dreams.

Have you guys managed to get rid of Ozil?

Ozil’s on massive wages at Arsenal, it’s been a failure of a signing. He’s so talented but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a top player with such little desire, motivation & fight. He’s clearly just in it for the money & has no love for the game. I’d really dislike him if I was a Gunner.

When Ozil came in, I had high hopes from him and he did well but I guess age also sometimes pulls player down. His position is certainly an issue since he is pulling off big wage. I don't dislike him but it starting to feel like tending towards burden a bit more so I am kinda picturing like what Arsenal did with Sanchez maybe.
