So many rumors about Premier...

Next week they mayeb start training

Source: https://twitter.com/indykaila/status/1254098925528719361

Yeah, there are rumours swirling around about players returning to training very soon. I am glad, it feels like an age since I watched a game of PL football. The Bundesliga will resume first so we will have to make do with that.

Yes but with respect, I am standing in a line of 100 people at supermarket every 3-4 days.

So how much different is that from a few physios staying spread out around an empty ground?

Much less risk I would posit.

I completely agree here. I think it is irresponsible that a lot of people in my neighborhood are ignoring the police and warnings and going for large weekend gatherings with their friends while I have to go out every day to wait for one hour with 100 people in a supermarket. All doing social distancing and mainly wearing masks.

If they can find a way for football to do the same thing, quarantining all players together for 1 entire month,,, until it is over,,, why not? If they all agree of course. They and their families all in the same hotel with doctors around.

@logfiles Never mind that LFC were 2 games away from winning the title (or one if City lost their game in hand), as Globb0 says, it's money money money, and yes, I believe it really is as simple as all that.

@Harko, toma others, thanks. So they will decide UEFA based on current standings? But current standings are null and void, so will next season's Champions League be a farce of non-champions and an invite-only tournament? Anyone who wins that cup can't possible put a star next to their name. But yeah, I can see the shitshow starting pretty soon with Dutch FA. AZ Alkmaar should be one of the loudest criers.

Next week is going to be crucial in order to see where we are going.
Will the measures are going to be stopped? Otherwise, how will the Arsenal players are going to start training together?

@tomahawk, yeah I saw that Boris Johnson is thinking about letting football restart in a couple of weeks. He thinks it’ll boost the moral of the country. It will certainly boost mine Cheesy
And it'll certainly boost the bookies' morale...and their revenue lol

I'm not as hopeful as I was a couple weeks ago tho.  And I heard the Dutch league is gonna cancel their season.  Too much risk for them.
Gary Lineker fears the Premier League will have little choice but to follow the Dutch FA and VOID the 2019-20 season (...)

My big question now though is, how will qualification for UEFA competitions happen? Who represents the cancelled leagues?
UEFA had a meeting last Thursday. The TL;DR: if a domestic league decides to void/cancel the current season, it'll be up to the Football Federation (for example, the Dutch FA) to submit the list of teams [that will represent the league] to UEFA.

And the shitshow begins: https://www.goal.com/en/news/this-process-is-not-accepted-fc-utrecht-set-to-challenge/1pp3sybgb8x781fzwz2kbrwjez

All leagues get cancelled perhaps, and we have a total reset like nothing happened this season?
This would be absolutely bad news for LFC fans of course.

We shall probably start thinking about the outcomes after seeing how the situation progresses in the next 2 months.

Forgetting that its all about money.

There will be no chance of a year off CL etc. while we rerun it next year.

I read a couple of days ago that UEFA would make use of the current standings in the leagues to decide the qualifier for next season.

There were some technical details to it, though, but the general idea seem good imho, I'll try to see if I can find the links.

@coinlocket: that's been the seemingly direction English FA and the leagues will take: one stretch of 30 days, all the games played in that period behind closed doors, and no cup games. All the clubs were asked to submit their min # of ppl needed to make closed doors games happens. Can't confirm until May though. When situation is clearer.

@Globb0 Yeah to be honest I was a bit surprised by the Dutch FA too, especially when they asked the clubs to take a vote. Clubs didn't want the show to be over but the FA decided against it anyway. AZ Alkmaar probably the most pissed as they were level on points with Ajax. The "intelligent lockdown" in Netherlands was a shitty idea and now they know it.

At present all activities carried out openly outside the home will have risks even though they are smaller than we can think.

Standing in a line of 100 people at supermarket every 3-4 days if there is no personal protection there is a far greater risk compared to those who play on the field. As you said, if there is a free TV that can be accessed by all fans at home, then the risk may be minimized.

Well that can all be mitigated. Bigger problem might be lots of fans gathering wherever they can to watch it.
Corona virus has made us very worried and afraid of the way of transmission very quickly. Stopping transmission is an ongoing effort in various parts of the world, although it has been considered to be somewhat conducive but this virus is still a time bomb that if it cannot be controlled will explode and worsen situation.

There have been a number of meetings held by sports leaders to discuss the continuation of the league which has so far been postponed indefinitely. I think they know about the risks that will arise if the league continues in the midst of a pandemic is still quite real, even though the league continues without fans but the players and staff are people who are faced with great risk. Even though I really want the league to continue, if faced with risk I think it would be better to stop all sporting events this season and let's hope that next season can be opened.

Good enough to be the first and best in the first season?
Hell no, there's no chance Newcastle will win the premier league in the first season of the "billionaire takeover"(that's if the takeover happens) and besides the players on that "fantasy" team do not have what it takes to win the EPL imo.

Look at Manchester City, even after skeikh took over, it wasn't an instant success, they spent some seasons buying the wrong players for huge amounts. Newcastle will be content with 5th to 7th position on the table in the first season, if they get this rich owners.

It is not the "strong fit guys" that we are worried about that closed the leagues for, it is the people around them. Normally think about the games with absolutely no lockdown, there are tens of thousands of people watching right? Well, remove all of those people and you are not left with just 22 people.

We are talking about stadium personal, the staff, the waiters, the coaching team, the doctors, the security and god knows who else I am forgetting about, so it is not really all that easy and each game has at least 50 people, probably more, plus you are risking that 50 people but at the same time you are risking all of their family as well, when one person gets it, they infect others and those others infect others. Hence why we are in lockdown right now.

Dave has sky, lets all go round Daves. Oh Brian has BT pile in boys. Garry has covid pile in fellows. Er whoops

If they get it on free to air tv less risk of this, but where's the money coming from then?
