A high number of deaths has been reported in the last 24 hours in the UK. The season will be completed but it’s going to be at least 6 weeks before a ball is kicked & 100% it will all be behind closed doors. At least it’ll be on TV for us.

Nowadays, It's nothing but lifescores instead of Livescores as I've been familiar with for the almost the entirety of my adulthood, Honestly, It's tiring!!!

Ozil's has been receiving massive criticism from various parties the latest being Piers Morgan 1, after Ozil along with a very few Arsenal players refused the new 12.5% pay cut proposed by the club 2, The players initially rejected the trending 30% pay cut and the 12.5% cut is the lowest I've read about from a club and I believed shouldn't have been a problem for any of the players, at least not the club's highest paid player.

For some people a contract is a contract.

Would they have added 10% if it was some amazing thing instead of a disaster? unlikely

Footballers still need to make all their career in a few years also.

Though I think this is for the common good against covid-19 and a 12.5% salary reduction is low for world-class soccer players, of course Ozil will be a criticism of many people because of the decline in salary because there is no generosity towards humans who are in crisis when this.

I think there are still many players who agree with the salary reduction because they know that difficult situations like this are indeed experienced by everyone so we have to do the best we can.

I am glad if the world will come back with a new normal condition, including sports. I am also glad to watch matches on TV while on stadiums, they will be played behind closed doors.
Right now USA, Russia, Turkey and UK leading countries where numbers are increasing very quickly and its really matter of frustration as they have very stick lock down but still its going out of control as few other countries also coming high very quickly in casualties but we can hope for good in near future nothing else.
It takes time to see good changes from lockdowns, about 1 month. The USA, Russia, Turkey and UK are late in their lockdowns, compare to Italy, Spain, and some other nations. It takes a few more time, about next 2 weeks for them to see good decreases on new cases, new daily death tolls, and new ICU cases; or later, next one month. After lockdowns, most of new cases are caused by previous infections (before the days lockdowns began).

Obviously the rest of the current season will be played behind closed doors but I’m interested in two things -

1.) When will the 2020/21 season start if the current season finishes in maybe August?
2.) When will fans be allowed to start going to games again next season?

I think it's better they resume and we watch from our homes where we'll all be safe from the virus then not playing at all. Assuming the premier league was still ongoing atleast the lockdown won't be as boring as it currently is. To answer your first question, I think next season will be postponed until the virus has been declared not to be as dangerous as it currently is (when the vaccine has probably been developed and tested successfully)

As for the fans been present at stadium, the possibility of that happening the remaining games of this season should be ruled out, so probably next season.

UEFA are having a meeting today to discuss how the seasons will be finished. Nothing has been said yet but this is an article on what might be discussed.

As a Spurs fan, of course I always hope that Arsenal do not do well,,, or at least, never finish above us;) But I agree here people like Arteta have a good sense of coaching and as former players they also understand the guys on the field who kick the ball. I think Arsenal can go up if they fix their very old issues of mentality (same as Spurs, mentality issues).
Next season, if Jose Mourinho will has his position in Spurs, and with some good transfer in next summer, Spurs will improve their mentality and then their performance. The Special One is very strong in mentality and he can help Spurs' players to have more solid mentality and strong belief on their ability. If I have to compare mentality between Spurs' and Arsenal' players, I would say Spurs' players are better. Arsenal has their strong mentality about 2 decades ago but last 5 seasons, they lost it entirely.

I think so he will keep his position,,, this season he took us up a little, and I think, if not for the lockdown we might have a chance to fight even without Son and Kane, but who knows when it comes back we have them back fit and we can really really fight for a top 4 finish!

Mentality is exactly what we have always been lacking in many players, so if he fixes that, we get fixed. Not sure though. We need more than a few good players.

^  The 2020/2021 season could start later and be shortened by a couple of months.  And it'll probably safe enough in some areas to get people out in crowds again by then.

I hope I hope.  *fingers crossed*

A shortened EPL season would be roller coaster Cheesy

Imagine teams playing on a tight schedule with all the those tournaments and league competitions due to a shortened season. Maybe they would have to completely remove international friendlies or even International breaks as a whole.

1. If the conditions keep improving up until then, the league would want to maximize that and resume a fresh season with a short interval in-between.
I think it's also dependent on what's going on in other countries, the UCL is the elite competition and all clubs would want that restarted as soon as possible.

2. Not very soon imo. Large public gatherings would likely only be possible when; a vaccine is create or when the pandemic is completely quelled in that nation.

Although there are various discourses and possibilities to stop the remainder of the English Premier League competition, Brighton & Hove Albion CEO Paul Barber said that at present the participating clubs have no plans to stop the remainder of the 2019/20 season competition.

Barber also said that football is an important part of various countries' businesses and economies, a series of matches can only be continued when conditions allow it to do so.

The season will get completed because there’s too much money involved, too many teams would sue the FA & TV companies are owed a lot of money because they’ve paid for broadcasting rights.

Sadly it’ll be behind closed doors which totally destroys the atmosphere.

It is the best decision for now. Alot of people is infected by the covid19 right now and all those football player wont take a risk as well. If they could just play the remaining game without tons of people watching them then they would be happy to do that in the given pandemic condition

If we have vaccine then its possible otherwise its going to take some long time as many governments already announces they will not take any risk until we have vaccine about this Corona.
We all know it's not possible for a vaccine to be out by June or July, maybe even this year. So what the league is trying to do is figure out which option will be best, one way or the league needs to be finished, I think around the time they are speculating, things may be much better than it is now, with lesser risks and fewer cases discovered daily, that will give them the opportunity to slowly restart the league, with an empty stadium and a lot of precautionary measures in place.
Found this article: Newcastle takeover: 'This is a chance to become a seriously big club again'

The author says that The Magpies should be top 6 contenders...Does anyone agree?
Top six could be possible, but maybe not even straight away. Money is an important part of football and if Newcastle can get the money in, it'll be good for them, but they would still not be able to attract the best players, they would get players better than their current squad now but not top class players.

It’s therefore refreshing to hear that the potential new owners are willing to spend on new players, and will almost certainly break our transfer record more than once doing so. What’s more key is that they will also oversee the regeneration of the city, something that was hugely overlooked
I think one of the positive points in this whole story is to have a renewed team with new good players bought from different leagues that can compete for a Champions League spot.
What i hate in this whole thing is to see MBS involved in this...

I think all league will try to finish the season on June and Jully. Of course behind closed doors. August will be reserved for European competition, CL and UEFA League.
Also, it is very possible we won't see open doors until the end of the year.

Facts: despite their awful record over the past decade (finishing in mid table and even in relegation zone a few times), Newcastle FC used to be a pretty strong team. In the early 2000's they had peak Alan Shearer and the team was qualifying to Champions Leagues and UEFA Cups again and again. In the 90's they won the league title and were runner-ups twice.

I think we’ll see players returning to training with their clubs in mid May, possibly like Germany in small groups with no tackling. I think the PL will start matches behind closed doors in mid to late June with 2 games a week so the season is finished before August.
