Imho they do have the players to compete vs all the top 6 clubs in the league, and could even win it.  It's Mou.  Somehow there's something dark and negative emanating from him.  He's no longer that guy who came to Chelsea all those years ago and gave the league a breath of fresh air.

I think he needs to take a year or two off from management to regain his love for the game back.

You just said they're already out of the running after two games and now you're saying they can even win it?  Undecided. Man United have great players and even a great team, but City's and Liverpool are just far, far greater that I don't even think United currently come anywhere close to them. With the climate of sacking managers as soon as they have a bit of a bad run (especially at United) I can't see Jose even staying long enough to turn it around. I don't think he should be sacked now or anytime soon and should be given a couple of years unless he fucks up totally but when teams like City, Liverpool and Spurs are so good it's hard to compete. This weekends game against Spurs will be a big test for them. If they can win it an take three points away from Poch then that may give them a bit of a morale boost.

Huh?  Lol.  Read my post again.  I never said United could win it.  And fyi, they're out of the running even before the season started IMHO.

Man United have great players and even a great team,

Great players, yes. Players like Pogba and Lukaku were phenomenal during the World Cup. But they don't have a great team because they have no team work and no clear tactics or vision, and that's Mou's fault. If he doesn't sort things out soon, he won't see the end of the season.

Who else are they going to get though? Jose can with the title with Chelsea but not United? Whoever they get isn't going to come in and revolutionize the team and achieve instant success. It will just be the same story as it was with Van Gaal. Move on to the next manager and then sacked again. I really don't think you can put this all on Jose if the team just isn't gelling or getting the results, but whoever the next manager is probably won't do any better. It's just starting from scratch again which will just put them further behind in getting back on track to the greatness they once achieved.

Nice discussions going on, so early on in the season. My take on my De Gea is still sticking it out with United is their propensity to win even when playing badly. They're always going to be fighting for the league, no matter their crises. Cup games also they still can do well, Mou mentality or not (which may actually work better in competitions). He plays for trophies, I doubt money is the primary issue, not for a star keeper like him. Keeps him sharp for Spain too, which is important for Euro!

Liverpool of course as a supporter I'm enjoying the highs but always wary that we're consistently overperforming. When your stars didn't progress far in World Cup and your 2nd choice CB is a WC finalist haha... when your best player at times is the oldest (James Milner). I still have scars from the Suarez season when Gerrard slipped so I know how crushing these false dawns can be. But I always tip them to win every season, and there hasn't been a better chance for so long. Can't wait to meet City and see if we can't force a tumble down from their heights but our eyes have to be on the present.

Today, I go for a strange parlay I seldom do: both City and Liverpool to score at least two and a third to get the over 2.5s: https://www.bitcoinrush.io/sportsbook/ShareBet?id=cMs5JpPrGlUfe40JRxlT%2FPFwxXIOhERi3gSGMM2ZrqU%3D

For a similar return of 2.5.

One point worth considering - why is De Gea still at Man Utd? You would have thought he’d want to force his way out of Man Utd. They don’t look like they’ll compete for the big trophies for a while.

De Gea could play for pretty much anybody, dunno why he’s happy there.
in the current situation DeGea have only United to play with most of the elite teams in England have super goalkeeper so no other team that would be able to lure him while in Spain the three top teams have also great goalkeepers also if Atletico want him back I do not think that they can pay his current wages and United are looking to renew his contract so he most likely to be the highest paid goalkeeper in the world. The only possible move for him now is to join Juventus they have a new young italien goalkeeper and scezny if they do not perform within the team demands I can see Them moving for him next season if they see a potential move from him.

Its all about money bro, there isnt any other team out there that is willing to pay him more right now. He is a top class world keeper but to be honest, his performance has been quite declining compared to few years ago. He WAS a prodigy goalkeeper but now he is only a world class goalkeeper and there are few goalkeeper on the same calibre out there

Money is a big part of it but a world class keeper like him wants to win things. I doubt he'd go to a sub par team just for a bit of extra cash, but he might not stay with United forever if they're looking unlikely to win anything for years either.

There are still 36 games to go and everything could have happen, There is no way to tell how the season will end and who the champion will be at this stage

It's obviously ridiculous to say they're out of the title running at such an early stage, but often teams start as they mean to go on and losing even one game has a huge impact on their title aspirations because teams like City and Liverpool just aren't likely going to lose many games at all. In fact, Manchester City only lost two games last season and drew four. They may even do better this season but I think Liverpool could match their forum and be serious contenders for the title. Man United just don't have the squad to challenge this year but if they want to then they need to turn their form around very quickly. Playing Spurs this weekend isn't going to be easy either.

Maybe Mourinho can't compete with Guardiola. Guardiola is Mourinho's nemesis when both of them were managers in the La Liga. Mourinho's teams best performance came during his second season as manager but last season shows that City's squad is too good. I think Mourinho is disheartened when the Premier League is much more competitive than the time when he first managed Chelsea the first time.
yeah nowdays it will be hard to keep up with Man City, before both Mourinho and guardiola came to the EPL Man City had netter squad then their neighbors United and they had only to ilprove the team just a little bit more to be back at top but When Guardiola came he made a lot of big Changes that made the team unbeatable they destroyed a lot of records of SAF made back when he was at United and last season it was surprising that they didn't get to advance in higher stages in the UCL that team could propably won the UCL against Real Madrid or atleast they could have put a better fight then Liverpool Mourinho got a good squad but nowhere near the level of city and now Liverpool got improved even more and they are starting to fall behind them so this season if Mourinho gets third it will be mission accomplished.

Looking at the games of this upcoming Premier League week, all the favourites are having easy games against easy opponents. The only real game will be the one between Manchester United against Tottenham. Tottenham has started the Premier League very well with two victories while Manchester United is struggling after lost to a team like Brighton.

I think we will see a goalless game here.

^  Yup...  It's absolutely the about the money and maybe also the lack of opportunity of getting bigger money offers from the other big clubs outside the EPL (Real, Barca, Bayern comes to mind).

Anyway, wanna bet?  Grin  Just so you know, I keep losing.  I've been donating in the forum.  Lol.

Manchester United looked horrendous vs Brighton and that's coming from a United fan. Mourinho was frustrated and couldn't motivate his team at all. I think the biggest problem here is that United seemed dispirited and demotivated right at the start of the new season which, in my honest opinion, doesn't bode well for the rest of the season and given Mourinho's shaky relationship with the board of directors at United he might be shown the door any time soon.

Give me a break, one win and one lose from Manchester united and they are out from the champion race?

It's not the 1 win, 1 loss, but their style of play. Slow, sloppy, and directionless. Klopp, Pep, even Sarri have a clear style of play that the team are working towards together. Man Utd seem to rely on De Gea performing a miracle and throwing money at the attacking problem and hope it sorts itself out.

Everyone notice that and do you think Mourinho wont notice that? As I have said before there are officially 36 games to go and they only has 3 points difference from the team that won twice. At this early stage, everyone almost has equal chance to win the league and so does Manchester United . We wont know or could predict the result atleast not until half of the season

Not basing it on the results, but on the overall mood at the club and the manager.  But if you really think Man United can still do well this season, let's make a small bet on who finishes higher.  Me LFC, you United...  20 bucks?  Smiley
