But you should remember that Litecoin had a market cap of less than $1 billion at the time of SegWit implementation. On the other hand, the market cap of Bitcoin is around $40 billion now. Going from $40 billion to $60 billion is much harder than rising from $1 billion to $2 billion. But still, I expect the exchange rates to be in the $4,000 - $6,000 range by the end of August.

If everything goes good. Bitcoin is likely to go up. But here are lots of people who are not very well aware with Segwit and are scared of August. Many people are likely to sell their bitcoin before August. This will lead to depreciation of price. But I believe that will live for short term. Bitcoin will again gain momentum after all the fuss in over and after a month of segwit activation. So, in long term its a win win situation.

If segwit finally will be activated and hopefully works smoothly, bitcoin suppose to back like the old days when we pay low fees and faster confirmation time. After scaling solution successful, more investors will be join into bitcoin market and pump its price, maybe over $5000 in this year and could reach $10,000 in the next year but still USA SEC won't approve it due to volatile prices.

At this moment we are at a top I think. If the price increases It will be something I totally not expect, because I see a large correction as a way more plausible thing then another increase.

If you are 99% that the price is going to increase and even with the split how can the market cap keeps on declining,what math is that buddy,if the price will increase the market cap will be increasing ,the price of litecoin is increasing now because of the high volumes from China. Wink

my personal speculation is price will be increased first reason is clearer blocks should take effect because many bitcoin holders will transfer their funds to markets , also speculation for segwit is on mid august so its near mid end of the year probably it will rise capped on 3000+ Grin

I think it can be increased but we will still experience of price down first before we will see the rise up again..
This is just my own speculation since there is no exact what will happen with bitcoin after segwit for me there are still possibility that the price could be decrease before we will see a huge price increase.. this is just the same even happen last year.

Segwit is supposed to be the solution to scaling problems of bitcoin which we experienced the effects during those months when the mempool is being spammed. So if ever if becomes a successful solution, confidence will build up and will shoot the price up. Hopefully.

I have read there will be more movement due to segwit and that will make price go down a bit at first, but then it will soar high as confidence builds. That is what I am personally hoping for.

There is still no clue about possible split after segwit activation however strong support growing around segwit2x might stop hardfork. If there will be no hardfork after segwit on august than there is nothing to worry about bitcoin's price.

It depends on what segwit gets activated...

Regular segwit with no hardfork drama = price goes to $5000-$10000 easily in the next 12 months.

Segwit2x with hardfork, a lot of fight, 2 coins and other drama = price tanks low, lower than I want even think about.

You read my mind, and I totally agree with you on this. And everyone would love to see bitcoin double up its price but there is also some downside to it. If it pumps it surely will dump after. And also I don't think the ETF approval is happening anytime soon.

What makes the price double after segwit,is it because we could make transaction at a faster rate,remember we did not see any major changes after the activation of segwit in litecoin,so never assume that the price would double after that and forget about ETF,there was a time when the price would depend upon the approval of ETF,now things have changed .

Most expected thing in the bitcoin community will never give profit mostly. Even last year halving most of the expect bitcoin price on the halving day nothing moves it seems around 900$ alone.
When segwit actives on litecoin or segwit2x activates time nothing makes gives big difference in the price or adoption rate.
