You were showing as +0 when I looked at it … That is correct, and it is because I have a Customized Trust List, and therefore the component structure is different than DT. The feedback you have is there, just under "untrusted feedback". That is what I was on about before: Customized Trust Lists will obviously be more adjusted to your likes (who's feedback you trust), but will display the values of the numbers differently (and the feedback may shift between trusted and untrusted feedback).

If anyone uses a Customized Trust List, they can get a DT view by adding ";DT" at the end of the url (i.e. https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/upgrade00-2423488). That allows me to see your +1.

I've always wondered how those plusses and minuses are reflected, even after staying here for more than a year.

For instance, I have a +1. So the member that left the feedback has to be part of the DT1 for that to show up? And any other non-DT feedback, regardless of rank won't show up as +1/=1/-1?
Take a look at LoyceV's Beginners guide to correct use of the Trust system

You see the feedback as trusted (thus influencing these numbers) if you have the user in your trust list (or if he is on DT and you didn’t exclude him or the DefaultTrust, making him be included by default on your trust list). Or if he is trusted by someone you trust.

Non-DT users (and not in your list) don’t count as a +1 or -1.

And you only need to be on DT2 not DT1.

<…> How is the trust used? I get the impression people use this site as platform for buying/selling in addition to just posting questions and answers?
It it’s origin, the system was aimed at evaluating a profile’s trustworthiness in commercial transactions with them, although over time it has been used for a wide variety of things that are not aligned to that spirit (as the provided trust type and feedback are freeform), retaliation being one of them.

Some boards show those numbers alongside the profile summary to the left of each post, whilst others do not. Nevertheless, if at any point you want to see somebody’s trust score, it is better to go to his profile and click on his Trust link in order to access the detail of the Feedback behind the scores. There can be both Trusted Feedback (that provided by the Default Trust Network (DT) or your personal Trust Network – whichever you have), and untrusted feedback (provided by people that are non-DT or not in your personal Trust Network). Read the feedback properly on both listings, and decide for yourself whether the feedback is relevant to you.

Bear in mind that the numbers you were inquiring about may change from one person’s view to another, and even over a short period of time (DT lists change every month slightly, added feedback, etc.). The majority of people all have a DT view (Default Trust), and therefore see the same if the Trust ratings. If you have a customized personal Trust Network (there are only just over 4500 people that do), then the ratings will possibly show different numbers in the Trust scores, and the Feedback may have shuffled around between both lists (trusted and untrusted feedback).

The links provided in this thread will help you to understand the specific details if you wish.

There is something called trust list here if you are not using any customized one than you are on default one were all the DT members trust count as trustworthy feedback which could be visible on the trust wall. Other feedbacks lay under the untrustworthy feedback list, means the people whom you don't trust. It would not show until you click on the "Show ratings" text there.

One can use trust system to show how trustworthy you feel a specific user is. You can put on your own trust rating as negative, positive or neutral with a comment.

Yes, people use this site for buying and selling but, all the trust rating's here does not imply actual trades but could also point to personal disagreements so be sure to check them manually by clicking on the word "trust".

Can someone please point to documentation concerning the trust field (i.e. the field that says "+0 / =0 / -0" for new profiles")

Basically, the first number is positive feedback (how many you have. The second for neutral and the third one for negative.

Only DT feedbacks (from default trust) count. You can create your own trust list if you don't like the default one, but it only affects your view.

I did a thread about trust flags sometime ago and discussed little on the original trust system, https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.51544945
Trust ratings are used to reflect the overall reputation and trustworthiness of a user, it previously also covered scams but trust flags replaced that. Only trust ratings from DT members and those in your custom trust list is reflected on the profile you're viewing, check out this thread on how to do that: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/explained-importance-of-custom-trust-list-5096348

Just to note, after the modification, trust score systwas dropped and now we have distinct numbers for every feedback.

Can someone please point to documentation concerning the trust field (i.e. the field that says "+0 / =0 / -0" for new profiles") for Bitcointalk.org profiles? I've searched for documentation besides what you get just by clicking on the word "trust", but can't find anything.

How is the trust used? I get the impression people use this site as platform for buying/selling in addition to just posting questions and answers?

Thank you,
