I think there will come a time when both Litecoin and Monero will try to outdo each other by trying to come out with better technology.  For now Monero has the edge over Litecoin.  Litecoin never really 'pushed the envelope' as they say.  They had a few years of being stagnant and maybe now they realized that they should be getting of their asses and start developing and improving again.  That's good to see.

And I'm removing Namecoin.

There's not much worthy updates in the world of proof of work altcoins lately.  If I have missed anything at all don't hesitate to post them and please include the link of the source.

I will remove Namecoin and add Zcash this weekend.  There's not much development going on with NMC while there's lot's of drama behind Zcash.  That should be entertaining to follow.  Grin

No worthy updates in the world of proof of work projects for this week.  It would be nice if some of you guys chime in and help out bring some updates yourselves for everyone to read.  Sometimes I miss some stuff here and there.

Edit:  What's up with Monero?  Wink

Monero:  Core GUI Beta 1 Released
https://getmonero.org/2016/12/22/monero-core-gui-beta-released.html

This is the only worthy news update among all the proof of work based coins.  The sad thing with Monero's recent release of its GUI is the timing.  If only Bitcoin isn't go through a strong price surge, XMR could be doing one of its own right now.  Put it in your watch list and look out for this one imo.

The Monero update is looking good imo.  I'm excited to see their GUI released and see the contrast to the number of users now and then.  This could have a major effect.  I'm also removing Vcash.  The John Conor guy dumped and closed down its Github, its site and its forum.  Not cool.

That's all in the world of Proof of Work coins.  Not much updates and I'm mixed with the Monero one.  I couldn't quite know how to react since it could be a good one but then again it could be a red flag.  XMR could be used as another exit strategy since transactions will be more anonymous once RingCT becomes online maybe next year(?).

Oh, and the Vcash forum is gone.  That could be a red flag too imo.

VCash:  VCash (XVC) version 0.5.0 released
Source

Things are pretty quiet mostly with proof of work based cryptocurrencies.  It's almost like there's no more interest in maintaining an open source project for free ever since ICO's and crowdfunding went in vogue.  I guess it's all about making as much money as they can while the crypto craze lasts.  And who can blame them...?

im looking closer with Vcash it seems that its keeps on moving down so better to chase it up to its bottom thank you sharing your reviews there's a lots of opportunities to gain profits if placing entry was completely done in a good timing, good luck mate.

Never catch a falling knife.  Take a look at the XVC chart.  It looks really bad.

Most of the PoW coins are on a downtrend due to Bitcoin's price surge, obviously.  It's good to start watching them and go look for possible entries at lower risk of draw downs since the prices will bottom out sooner or later.  GL and GT.

There's no big developments among PoW altcoins as everything is focused on Bitcoin's price surge and Segwit right now.  So I guess the altcoin bear market could last until the end the first quarter of 2017 then?  What do you guys think?

Funny how only a few POW coins give updates and news on their website, blogs (if they are still maintaining one) and Reddit page.  Some would consider that a sign that the project is starting to stagnate and eventually "die" at some point.  Especially if the said project has been around for a couple of years and still hasn't shown convincing growth.

Are you talking about Litecoin or something? Or saying that Monero is starting to stagnate? Something else?

I was thinking all altcoins in general, it would tend to happen like that.  I just posted a Monero update so it's not Monero for sure.  It just got accepted in the dark net market, so it's just the beginning for the project to boom in the future at some point.  If some people are saying it's booming now, then I'd say they lack imagination.

And notice the "" at the word die.  We all know some developer who is good and famous could always pick up any cryptocurrency project, make it his own, and could make a hell of a success out of it, given there's enough time and hard work spent on it.

It's only a beta release and all coins mined are only on a testnet.  For miners this would be a good testbed for your hardware.  For newbies who are interested, this is your time to learn.

The official final release will be out in 1.5 months.  Have fun!

Take a look at LBRY.  There seems to be a reversal going on and it could be a nice time to start going long.  The idea seems good now that crypto is moving in on decentralized social media and they have just received funding from a VC.  Please read more about in the post before this.

LBRY/BTC

The cryptocurrency that's hugely affected by Monero's recent surge both in price and in the news is no other than DASH.  Sorry Dash fans but it looks like Monero is kicking ass right now.  So it looks like it could be a good idea to do some Dash shorts at these current prices.  But of course, you have pick your spots.
