mine can fry an egg.

Im running Asus 280x and getting 775~ at 73C, for Florida (the only state not participating in winter) that's not bad temps.

Currently have mined 2000 MMC on my spare computers, and working earthcoins at the moment.

Pissed that I have 2 video cards doing nothing atm, cause my risers haven't come in yet.

Nice rig, how much did you get those cards for? Also what power supplies are you using? Why would you mine earthcoin with 2.4MH/s though, why not coin like Litecoin?

Good question.  I mined DOGE for a few days solo and got a few million coins... when they started trading on cryptsy I cashed in for about 2BTC and converted to LTC (which was undervalued IMHO)... so my 2.4Mh system earned me about 60 litecoins in 3 days.

what can your 2.4Mh system do?

Wow, very nice.  I can only get up to about 700ish, but my case is more of a gaming case and not open so my temps get really high Sad.

What settings are you using?

I'm getting 700 Kh/s with the MSI R9 280X.  These are the setting I am using:

-I 13 -g 2 -w 256 --lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 8192 --temp-target 75 --auto-fan

For some reason if try with higher core/memory clock settings using "--gpu-engine --gpu-memclock " I get worse hashrates.

Nice config! Optimal for r9 280x !!!

Nice performance! I have six 280x cards (ASUS) and all of them give only ~700KH/s.

dont buy powercolor r9 280x. These cards are ni e for gameing but notthe best miner cards. A friend of mine is useing 2of them for mining.. The cards are very loud, useing much power. The might be a littlbit cheaper than other cards, but well... If u like tiny plane turbins next too you, then you should buy them.
I have a sapphire r9 280x. Running on 65% cooling power with never more than 71•c. i have 71 celcius for heat treshhold.

Hope thats helpfull for someone :-)
I really dont have these heat problems, my VDDC is never higher than 1.1 and my temp is around 73C.

Very nice hashrate for the 280x. 800kh/s is just about what a stock r9 290 does. I have an r9 290 (HIS brand) and I'm able to get ~870kh/s with a little overclocking. Although its not as well known as cgminer, I use Reaper to mine. Works well for me.

Wow ... nice hashrate for a r9 280x!

I've got some r9 290x's and run about 880kh/s per card...

What coin are you mining be the way?

Can't get my over 710kHps...
--thread-concurrency 8192 -g 2 -i 13 --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-engine 1027.

Anyone with a Powercolor R9 280 that has gotten it higher that can post your settings? Smiley

Configs would be nice!! Those are some really good hash rates you are getting! I need to mess around more with my 280x's. They only run at 700Kh/s.

In due time... I spent weeks reading posts and tweaking to get where I'm at... and hint, no one handed it to me it was trying bits that were successful for others and tweaking it... I had to work for it, I think others should to... but I'll give you 1 hint.  Change your thread concurrency to 8193 and see what happens.  Grin

I'm interested in the pics of the rigs.
How much money did you spend on those?

The rig pictured will be converted to my main gaming system once I get ahold of an ASIC scrypt miner, so I went a bit big... it has 16GB ram, high end I7 processor, and a 2nd PSU so I can fit in up to 3 more graphics cards...  That said what you see is about $2500.  Figure another $1200 will get me to 4.8Mh/s

Sweet rig man!!

Just be careful about power requirements if considering 3 more GPUs+ 2nd CPU. Each 280x uses about 250watts and your typical home outlet supplies 15amps which means you should load no more than 1440watts or realistically about 5 280xs + cpu/psu overhead. See here for more info: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/residential-limit-15amp-or-20amp-355305

Is that non powered 1x-16x risers?

Non powered 1x-16x risers, but motherboard has a total of 3x 12v connections on it (1 for CPU, 1 for GPU's, 3rd one I'm not positive on).  I'm running the rig in my garage, taking advantage of the cool weather and its on a 20A circuit atm, but thanks for the power tip.. I may only go 5 GPU's but we'll see.

I'm extremely impressed that you were able to pull 800 KH/s out of those cards.

My Gigabyte and ASUS 280x cards get only 730 KH/s flat on both, though I haven't overclocked either. I actually had to downclock both because they were unstable at their factory clocks. If you could post your config, that would be awesome. Changing the thread-concurrency to anything higher than 8192 throws an error saying it's out of memory.

Also, what type of metal rig do you have? I need something more than the table my mining rig is sitting on right now.

The metal rig I have is just something I put together after looking at other people's rig designs... its 1" square tube aluminum and some smaller angled and straight aluminum for bracing, all held together with rivets.

I've found that different cards behave differently with configs... PM me your config file and I'll give you some suggestions, but I'm no expert... yet.
