I'm extremely impressed that you were able to pull 800 KH/s out of those cards.

My Gigabyte and ASUS 280x cards get only 730 KH/s flat on both, though I haven't overclocked either. I actually had to downclock both because they were unstable at their factory clocks. If you could post your config, that would be awesome. Changing the thread-concurrency to anything higher than 8192 throws an error saying it's out of memory.

Also, what type of metal rig do you have? I need something more than the table my mining rig is sitting on right now.

Configs would be nice!! Those are some really good hash rates you are getting! I need to mess around more with my 280x's. They only run at 700Kh/s.

In due time... I spent weeks reading posts and tweaking to get where I'm at... and hint, no one handed it to me it was trying bits that were successful for others and tweaking it... I had to work for it, I think others should to... but I'll give you 1 hint.  Change your thread concurrency to 8193 and see what happens.  Grin

I'm interested in the pics of the rigs.
How much money did you spend on those?

The rig pictured will be converted to my main gaming system once I get ahold of an ASIC scrypt miner, so I went a bit big... it has 16GB ram, high end I7 processor, and a 2nd PSU so I can fit in up to 3 more graphics cards...  That said what you see is about $2500.  Figure another $1200 will get me to 4.8Mh/s

Sweet rig man!!

Just be careful about power requirements if considering 3 more GPUs+ 2nd CPU. Each 280x uses about 250watts and your typical home outlet supplies 15amps which means you should load no more than 1440watts or realistically about 5 280xs + cpu/psu overhead. See here for more info: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/residential-limit-15amp-or-20amp-355305

Is that non powered 1x-16x risers?

I am also ne to bitcoin and really confuse what does R9 280x toxics up to 800 Kh/s (running 3 in a rig I built atm) for a total of 2400Kh/s means or about XFX R9 280. I would really appreciate if you tell me about it in plain English instead of technical words. Or you may even give me the link of some reliable site so I may attain basic knowledge regarding its functionality

When he says 800kH/s, I'm assuming he is talking about script mining, else we will be talking in MH/s.
the kH/s, MH/s is the number of hash per second, the higher it is, the better.

The R9 280x or XFX R9 280 are graphic card, which are good for mining.

Here are the comparison for differents hardware.

Mining are for people who want to invest into rig for mining, then selling afterward.
You can also invest into bitcoin/litecoin or any other currency, but it's like trading, you may win fast, you may loose fast. Mining is slower, but "safer". Take into account the electricity bill, and the hardware cost.

I'm not getting close to 800Kh/s - around 700 on average - will have to have a play around!

Yeah me too. I'm getting this 7950 because it said the best GPU for mining but I never get it to work. Maybe I will try to install Linux and let's see.

800kh/s is too nice. I just got a 7950 vom PowerColor and it can only get to 580kh/s maximal. No idea why. How much costs your 280x?

800 Kh/s is very sweet.

I have two Asus R9 280x DirectCU II Top cards which will go up to 740 but that's pretty dicey. I've clocked them down to around 680 so as to keep noise to a minimum. They are almost inaudible at that rate except for the occasional fan burst.

When DataCoin mining using 3 cores of a 4 core i7 CPU, the hash rate on the cards then drops down to around 630 kh/s.

In case anyone is still interested, my desktop is just about usable with the two cards running, although video is jumpy so often switch to mining with a single card.

Anyways, I've been able to get my R9 280x toxics upto 800 Kh/s (running 3 in a rig I built atm) for a total of 2400Kh/s with no errors.

from what I've been reading that's pretty good, its taken some tinkering to get em that high... I have 2 other XFX R9 280's but they don't play nice with the Sapphire Toxics so they are in their own rig... a bit flakey only around 740kh/s

800Kh/s is very good.  Can I ask is this WU, or if now what's your WU figure looking like?

740Kh/s is also still good.  I get about 720Kh/s reported locally with about 660Kh/s WU; although I've only clocked my cards up to 1060 core and 6000 mem.

BTW, what coins are you mining?
