The conference itself is not what's going to push the price up - it's the resulting (positive) media coverage.  From the conference threads over in General Discussion, it definitely looks like the media showed up.  It'll take a couple of days for their stories to be produced.

Yeah, memo to Bruce, as much as we all love bitcoin, a cruise is not a game changer. If that was the big announcement, it was definitely overhyped.

about 8 days ago. 9 USD to 11.50 USD per BTC is a significant percentage rise in my book. now it has stalled and the time to sell
is probably right now. just my two cents. Tomorrow, this forum is going to be full of people wondering why a conference did not have
a couple neat things come out of it versus a bunch of hard core bitcoin folks just getting together to talk and brain storm.

The bitcoin conference has been going well according to all the people there...  There have been some announcements such as bitcoin ATMs and means to pay for consumer goods via smart phone transactions.  By the sound of things people are making major investments into the infrastructure.

Still at 11.50, $331k to get to 10.50, $193k to get to 12.50 which is slightly worse of a ratio as compared to yesterday.

It also looks like there is someone botting the price to 11.50 for the past 24 hours, as any large push in either direction results in immediate push-backs within a second.

How many John Citizens store several hundred thousand dollars on their computers that can be moved instantly?  The only sure way to protect a wallet is to disconnect it physically from the internet.  Some people may do that, but I bet most don't.
I'm sure everybody having several hundred thousand dollars in their Bitcoin wallet will have them stored securely by now.
Despite, there are probably only about 20-30 people who qualify for that anyway.

Why is it going to $14? Because I can't really see any more major hacking or theft occurring that'll drive the price down. I think the worst of the worst is over and the majority of bitcoins are in investors hands now.

Why not?  The reward for getting read access to one file on one individual's internet connected computer has rarely been so large.  How many John Citizens store several hundred thousand dollars on their computers that can be moved instantly?  The only sure way to protect a wallet is to disconnect it physically from the internet.  Some people may do that, but I bet most don't.

You really are quite deep in Bitcoin these days aren't you Vladimir.  Where we all speculate on BTC, you seem to speculate on GBP.  My hat goes off to you sir.

Me thinks he remembers this:

Those prices are actually a bit higher than the 32USD often quoted as the peak using the historical forex rate (1.63057) for back then they're around 33.1USD

This is why I calmly bought more at $9.00 - the long term is indeed rosy my friends. Can't let the zig-zags get you (or your core position) down.

I might sell, but I also might just hold. I bought on the way down @ $11.7, for some reason thinking it wouldn't go down further even though there was enormous sell pressure.

Luckily I decided against selling at $6.

I can get most of my money back out now..
