Sorry, but record not tied by a factor of 100x. I did a 10 character dictionary for a while, the file date is 1/24/2012:

By the way, I'm not trying to be a dick (never was), so you can cut your prick attitude.

Yeah, deep celeron has you salughtered with his 10 characters and his are in he block chain.

No one is being a prick, you just haven't followed everything in the first post for the hall of fame addresses. You need it in a block chain and you need to sign something proving it is yours.

Signature proof will provide the address, text that you are signing, and then the signature. If those are signatures below, I need to know what text you signed to verify it. But first you need the first bits in the block chain, can be a single satoshi.

Deep celeron, sign your earliest address so OP can put it in there for longest vanity so far.

Okay, you've got it tied... no one cares, you weren't the first and not in the block chain. Now do a 10 digit, get it in the chain and sign something proving you had it. If you take all the 9's out, what is your ETA for finding a word? The style that it is finding makes it look like it is already not looking for case sensitive.

I have no bitcoins to send sadly, one of my friends is trying to show me a way to prove it without sending bitcoins. He's mentioning something about signatures and bla bla.

By the way, I'm not trying to be a dick (never was), so you can cut your prick attitude.

I have two lists of 9 letter words, and 10 letter words.

That's an ETA on case sens 10 letter words. I can't do non case sens because my video card doesn't have enough memory to support a non case search.

Here's a signature proof? I think?

Surprised that only 9 letters is the current max. I compiled a list of 9 and 10 letter words. Oclvanitygen says I should find a 9 letter word in about 2-4 hours, and a 10 letter word in about 5 days with my 660ti pumping out about 20mkeys/s.

I'll let it run for a few hours while I do my laundry and post what I get Cheesy

Edit: didn't get anything, I'll just let it run, added in -k and -o for a results file... Will post in the morning, should defiantly get some by then.

Does your list have just a dictionary of words? The record is 9, so you would want just 10 or greater if you plan to beat it. I'm sure that would change the probability a lot.

There is a huge difference between searching for any 9 letter word vs 1dictionary. Are you looking for case sensitive as well? Toss an -i on there and it should go even faster.

No, wasn't looking for case sens lol, oops. Ether way, I found these overnight. Record tied Cheesy:

Pattern: 1CoRNCRiBS
Address: 1CoRNCRiBS7Jg1KmRf5r1N7N3LeLg6cMua

Pattern: 1HiCCUPPED
Address: 1HiCCUPPEDPNaLUGVvvC9USMvon1YyHzFq

Pattern: 1ALooFNESS
Address: 1ALooFNESSm1bZbS61DLc6rq4KRZSg61he

Furthermore when I add the -i, it seems it makes way too many words and errors me out:

7 char vanity address. The "goog" is almost certainly just a coincidence. I can see someone wanting an address starting with 12345678, but why would they go for 12345678goog? There's no way it was deliberate.
Probability says it's very definitely deliberate.  To get "goog" there, assuming any case would do (which is a little generous to your position) the chances of "goog" appearing after 12345678 are 1 in 29*58*58*29 which is 1 in 2.8 million.

I really doubt that's a fluke on a 12345678 address.

Yes, nice, except it burned the firstbits for 1Bitcoin which is kind of a shame.  But it is a very honest address, warning you that your BTC will be lost forever Smiley

The bitcoin address is hash, right? Is it possible to create a legal address without doing the hash? (not using a seed number) And if I send coins to this address - will the transaction be confirmed. And will I ever be able to get those coins?

Way off topic. But yes, you can create a valid address without knowing the private key. You can send coins to it, and it will be confirmed if it is a real transaction. And no, you will never be able to retrieve those coins. They are lost forever.

Two examples of those are mentioned in the first post.

Those are valid addresses. You can see people have destroyed bitcoins by sending them to those addresses.

is this cool?

1ABCDEFGhSGyyACty7gXC4PvKwjjMEsdVq

You didn't even put that in the block chain.

and someone already has this one https://blockchain.info/address/1ABCDEFGHTs4DtPSNch45cmp3BsDdQP8SV

All upper case, and a-h, and that is the one that has first bits.

If you want to beat that, go a-i and get it in the block chain.

check it out.

just made a transacation and put it in the chain, don't want to beat anyone, just feel it kinda cool, thanks for letting me know someone's good job.

Your first bits are http://blockchain.info/fb/1abcdefghs

Not too cool, and the one I mentioned is A-H all caps, not a small h...

Very interesting, makes me wish I had a fun/rare address Tongue

Makes me wish having the time to look at all my addresses 1 by 1 to try and find these kind of patterns lol

lol, I don't look at them one by one to find cool ones, I use vanity gen and specifically search for these patterns.
