What happens if you are in a third world country and there is massive corruption? You pay taxes and there are no roads, schools, or any essential public utilities. What you do see is the politicians and their cronies getting richer. Would you still argue that everybody should continue paying taxes?
Exactly. That's the mindset of most people including me.We are already fed up by seeing corrupt politicians looting our hard earned money paid as taxes. In such a condition, why should I pay taxes? To make the politicians rich?

Tax is outdated now because I do not see why people should continue to put money in the pockets of corrupt leaders who have made all of us to suffer. What the taxes were mearnt for is now forgotten by appropriate authorities. The tax payers now suffer to pay and hopping to see development but unfortunately someone is made rich.

If you are walking on the road and enjoying a nice day at the nearby park it's all because someone paid their taxes.
Taxes helps a lot , I have seen people frowning over about how they don't want to pay any taxes and as such.
Government ensures that if you earn over a certain amount then for sure you can contribute in the making of your country. It's only if you are able to.
Taxes helps in :

Paying the salary of government employees
    Making of roads
    Public schools
    Parks run by the government
    Maintenance fees
    Making government hospitals
Making high schools ... The list is endless

We all use all these services at one part of the life or other therefore we can just consider it a little payment for that .
People frown how government is corrupt , it is but not entirely if it was then you woont see new projects coming up in your town or city.

It's just our responsibility to pay taxes, we shouldn't run from it because it will more or so be used for everyone out there in your country , you are indirectly helping others too through paying them , the less advantageous ones.

Also one might say government can print all the money they need , but that's not the case ..the more money a government prints the lower the value of their currency gets which genrally have adverse effects in many sectors.
We all understand that, there are some that are completely against paying any form of tax but most people will not mind paying some taxes as long as the taxes were reasonable but there are countries where you need to pay more than 50% of your income in taxes, and in those countries you are a slave in everything but name, governments do not really need that much money but they still charge it to keep people poor.

I think tax is necessary so that it can maintain the operation of the society, and there will be a lot of Taxation used in public utilities, which serve for us. For government corruption, we may need more transparent oversight bodies to do so.

Many users do not pay taxes from mining or trading cryptocurrencies. Since the relevant detailed legislation has not yet been developed in all countries, the payment of taxes can be postponed...

i do not agree to the little list you have provided. I agree to some of them thought. Because government has not build stuff from a long time and people are building roads themselves because of their selfishness. I don't see any new government school but lets assume they are not playing with the children future as because they are at-least trying to bring new schemes to help poor kids. I think most of the funds from these taxes are used to pay the government employees which mostly do not do their jobs correctly. I do not see many government employees doing their own jobs and instead they where give some other tasks which where not even related to them.

According to me we are paying taxes for our own development.Government is responsible for the development of the country and development of the country means a better and improved life for all of us.For all these developments government needs money which they get through the taxes that we pay.Whether a person is a government official or he is running his own business,he has to pay taxes according to his annual income.By paying taxes we are contributing towards the betterment of our countries economy. Our little contribution in the form of tax can help government to make our country more developed so it is our duty to pay tax on time.

Couldn't agree more, plus when I think about even first world corruption, the politicians expenses' scandal in the UK springs to mind! True, taxes do fund positive projects which are beneficial to society as a whole, but the inefficiencies in public organisations are enormous and waste the wealth of the nation.

Thriving economys have always been driven by the light government touch, allowing commerce to thrive independently. High taxes hinder growth.

I believe any kind of taxation can be only voluntary (which basically is not taxes but just payment for services already). It's true that for some life occasions
it's simpler for large groups of people to organize and pay for the same cause, but the situation when taxes are being enforced is completely unacceptable for me.
This is the main reason why countries are trying to scare their citizens and make them pay upfront. You don't know where your taxes go and they can always think of some reason why this or that hasn't been done. A great improvement in this system is local taxation. In this system your money go directly to your local city council and are spent on roads, parks, pavements, schools, police, and so on, and you can demand them to give you the budget and value of the projects completed in the previous tax year. It makes it much harder for the money to vanish. Unfortunately not many countries allow for that. Most prefer all taxes to go to the capital and then be divided between local governments, so that they all get equal share (equality is another socialist idea that never seems to work as intended).

Finally a worthy thread where you can find enough posts to merit.

I definitely didn't expect to see this many anti tax members here, which is pretty refreshing. If we look at the US of A, then it's clear that the states being relatively tax friendly, aren't that much behind their tax hungry states in terms of infrastructure development. I would even want to point out that the tax friendly states are more likely to attract businesses to settle themselves there. It's a fact that governments over-regulating the economy force people and businesses to relocate themselves elsewhere. Governments are supposed to be working for you and me, and not to nurse their own greed. On top of that, governments have their own income streams as well, so why despite all that is there a need to keep squeezing every penny out of our pocket?

Yes that's true. Many people complain about how expensive they paid tax, and always said that they got nothing from paying tax. It's not neccesary to do so because what will it do good for them?
But they don't realize that tax is one of the biggest government income, that may be able to keep our country going. And of course, we can't feel the benefit of tax directly. But we can feel it through all the services we get, public facilities and others. New infrastuctures, subsidy, and such. People should be aware and pay tax regularly. But the government need to manage the tax money and use it well too, don't let it get corrupted and make everything be in vain.
You are right that tax is the biggest income of the government, I think people need to realize that public facilities such as bridges, good roads, and so on that you are using taxes paid, taxes are very helpful to government finances, and we must obey pay taxes so that the country becomes more advanced

we live in a government, and the Government requires us to pay taxes. of course we must comply with this rule, because the taxes are also in use for our purposes as well. such as building a highway, it is used money from our taxes.

we are born when all the rules have been made, and we are obliged to pay it. only for now, should the allocation of tax funds should be more transparent, so that people know the tax funds used by the government for what development.

I'm not against contribution in the form of taxes, but let's be clear, these would have to be JUST taxes.
A percentage based income tax is not just! It's a socialist tax that is meant to punish hard working people and reward laziness.
Tax brackets are another totally unjust feature that makes people renounce their deserved raises because sometimes taking a $100 a month raise would put them in a higher tax bracket and make them even poorer than they are without that raise. This is ridiculous.
Want to know some other idiotic cases? Believe it or not, there are countries that offer welfare to the poorest and then tax them, because the yearly tax threshold is lower than monthly welfare x12.

IMO citizens have the moral obligation to oppose unjust taxation.

Tax = legal theft to have wealth flow out of the pockets of the regulars, straight into the pockets of the elite.

Sure, tax is also used to build infrastructure and whatnot, but that only concerns a small fraction of what they gain from our financial support. It's only done to show the sheeples of this world that their financial support is being used for good things. What these sheeples don't know, is that all the contracting concerning building infrastructure goes to companies within their own circle. It's again the elite feeding the elite. In other words, itself.

Regardless of what people say or think, no one has the right to force me to pay tax over my income, gains, and existing wealth.

You can seize everything on my bank accounts, you can seize all my assets being controlled by whatever central party. You can't reach my Bitcoins. Wink

Believe me, if the tax policies were set up in a fair manner that actually benefits the country, and thus not the elite, people would pay tax out of free will. Tax evasion happens for a reason. These people are labelled as criminals, but they are people just like you and me, protecting what we believe is ours.
