Why won't Climate Scientists produce the empirical data that will prove their theory that CO2 is the primary culprit behind Climate Change and shut their critics up once and for all? Answer: The reason they refuse to show any data is because the data does not exist. In fact all the empirical data refutes their theory. So instead of showing the data that would prove their theory they manipulate the data; name call by calling anyone who disagrees with them "deniers" and try and shut people up.
Scientists have produced the empirical data that confirms that anthropogenic CO2 is causing the warming. It's there in countless studies by countless scientists. It's all summed up by the IPCC.

Can you name a single respected scientific organization that rejects anthropogenic global warming or the reports from the IPCC?
Yes.  The Thermometers That Say No Warming in the last 20 years.   You know, TTTSNW.  They are very, very reputable.

Californians are brilliant growers, no doubt about that. They managed to get the planet´s highest crop yield from rice, an aquatic plant, in a friggin desert. Now, that is really something. But was it realistic in the long run? Did all those swimming pools and golf courses have any future? Now a lot of that will turn brown along with front lawns.

I guess reality bites eventually. Sure hope Los Angeles will have water, Could be a hot summer.

Surely you see the problem with this question?

Not really. Care to explain?

You have respected scientific journals like "Nature" and "Science" that have published scientific breakthroughs in many fields of science for decades. Are they suddenly wrong on climate change, after even the computer you are using right now is a result of research being published in those and other journals? Is all science just a scam (despite all the things it has done for you)?

But "science" is not a deity. It becomes one when you stop thinking...

Science is Exxon and Shell and BP and nuclear energy and McLaren P1 and bombardier private jet and facebook and instagram and I love science for that too

 Wink

Unless... Those are the "bad evil science gods"?

http://www.accuweather.com/en/features/trend/disappearing_dead_sea_sinkholes_photos/45183381

My question is why would ecologists care about keeping the Dead Sea in pristine Deadness?  Why give it water so it can stay the Dead Sea, water that could have gone to people?  I mean, it's dead, right?

Sinkholes as Deep as Eight-Story Buildings Form Along Shoreline of the Disappearing Dead Sea

Gidon Bromberg, the Israeli director at EcoPeace Middle East, told ABC news that "these sinkholes are the direct result of inappropriate mismanagement of water resources in the region."

The Dead Sea is robbed of 2 billion gallons of water each year because of water diverted from the lake's main water source - the Jordan River - since the 1960s, according to the American Associate, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. Mining of minerals from the Dead Sea has also contributed to the disappearance of the lake's dense and salty water.

The 2 billion gallons of water translates to a decline in water levels of a meter every year (on average) or a total of 30 meters since 1970, according to research conducted by Duke University.

"With the Dead Sea level dropping so rapidly [a meter a year, on average], these sinkholes are inevitable," said Mark Wilson, a geology professor at the College of Wooster.

While researchers have agreed on different hypothesis, not many disagree that the declining water levels are behind the phenomenon.

David Ozsvath, a professor of Geology at the University of Wisconsin, said beneath the clay-like surface layer are cavernous spaces that are filled with water. However, as these subterranean spaces dry up with the receding water levels, the surface layer can collapse into the emptied space creating chasms along the banks.

Ozsvath said some sinkholes form over time, while other appear overnight. An earthquake or even heavy rain can cause a sinkhole to collapse into the drained voids in the subsurface.

He added that the number of developing sinkholes could be reduced by diverting less water from the Jordan River and allowing water levels in the Dead Sea to rise.

Bright green front lawns, countless swimming pools, and a multitude of sprawling golf courses have long been very prominent features of the California Desert. I guess it had to bite their butt sooner or later.

Why go halfway?  Demolish the showers and baths in those homes also.

Where will they cool off now? Californians demolish their back yard swimming pools thanks to record drought as they face mandatory reduction in water use

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3031492/River-closings-drought-friendly-car-washes-barren-ski-resorts-signs-drought-stricken-California-reveal-change-underway.html

--------------------------------------------------------------
I wonder if all that massive amount of debris (coming from hundreds of destroyed swimming pools of the homes of conscious water conservationists) will have any negative impact on the environment... Will California dump all that crap into another state with plenty of water?

All that machinery, demolition dust, diesel trucks, etc... To save the planet.

Last I heard it still rains from time to time in the great state of California.  I seem to recall it happening just last winter with the 'pineapple express'.

So, I've got an idea.  Let's destroy the very expensive water holding device we already have in our back yard honey!  Then we can pipe the rainwater from our roof into the sewer system which  is already maxed out and requires a billion dollar retrofit in order to get to the new and completely absurd EPA standards.  Yes, a billion may sound like a lot, but if we finance it we'll only have to pay an extra billion or so to the financial sector in interest.

Wake up America; we're being scammed!  Or you can buy these magic bean seeds I have right here.

Where will they cool off now? Californians demolish their back yard swimming pools thanks to record drought as they face mandatory reduction in water use

California Governor Jerry Brown ordered a 25% cutback in water use by cities and towns in the state on Wednesday

Photos taken on Wednesday show the ongoing drought is already taking its toll on once technicolor landscapes

Signs showing river closings and offering drought friendly services signal that change is already underway

The crackdown comes as California and its nearly 40 million residents move toward a fourth summer of drought

State reservoirs have a year's worth of water and with record low snowfall there won't be much to replenish them

Private swimming pools could become a thing of the past in California with some residents opting to have them removed as they face a mandatory 25 per cent reduction in water use imposed in the face of the state's fourth year of severe drought.

Photographs emerged showing workmen demolishing swimming pools with jackhammers as the drought continues.

California on Wednesday moved to tighten already stringent water regulations as part of the state's effort to respond to the crisis and signs have appeared offering drought friendly services and announcing closures throughout the dehydrated city.

Because it's a very difficult and subtle problem.  The data is well understood that CO2 absorbs solar energy in certain wavelengths and re emits in infra red wavelengths. We know exactly what those wavelengths are.

But this is difficult to apply to an entire planet.  How much energy is just lost to space?  What is the influence of water vapor?   What are the long term temperature trends?

Here's a thought experiment.

Suppose that we knew that aliens were going to be mining our planet and stealing our fossil fuels over the next few decades until we didn't have enough to add CO2 to the atmosphere.  What would the impact be on our world and the people who inhabit it?

I suggest that such an event would be a cataclysmic event for most people and we would do everything possible to avert the disaster.  If the aliens could not be stopped, I suggest that we would kill one another in massive numbers to compete for what was available.  Yes, a few rich people would 'go green', but it's simply not an option for most of the earth's inhabitants at this time, nor is it likely to be in the foreseeable future.

It may or may not go without saying, but the impact from this alien theft would be more or less indistinguishable from the impact that the carbon neutral folks wish to impose on humanity.  Or claim to wish.  I have a great deal of difficulty accepting that those who understand the issues in detail even really believe their own bullshit to say the truth.

DC Residents SUPER Concerned About Global Warming

By Josh Fatzick Published: April 7, 2015

A global warming public opinion study released Monday shows Washington, D.C. residents worry more about global warming than anyone else in the U.S., though they don’t think it will harm them personally.

According to the study conducted by the Yale Project on Climate Change, 74 percent of D.C. residents are worried about the effects of global warming, but only 47 percent believe they will be personally harmed. D.C. residents even beat out Hawaiians, at 66 percent, in how worried they are about global warming, even though people in the island state likely have more cause for concern.

Obama: Global Warming Gave My Daughter Asthma

President Obama said in an interview broadcast Wednesday that his push to address climate change has been partly influenced by a frightening moment when his daughter Malia had an asthma attack as a 4-year-old.

“What I can relate to is the fear a parent has, when your 4-year-old daughter comes up to you and says, ‘Daddy, I’m having trouble breathing.’ The fright you feel is terrible,” the president said on ABC’s “Good Morning America” Wednesday.
“And if we can make sure that our responses to the environment are reducing those incidents, that's something that I think every parent would wish for.”

Obama has made climate change a major priority of his White House. This week, he announced a global warming report that focuses on how people can take action to reduce health risks associated with a changing climate. He’s also negotiated a deal with China to cut greenhouse gases.

But that strategy hasn’t been welcomed by all of Congress, including a number Republican lawmakers who don’t feel that climate change presents as pressing of a risk as the president suggests.

Obama encouraged a societal approach to climate change, involving public health officials, doctors and community leaders in developing strategies to fight climate change. And he argued that the issue affects all Americans, so there needs to be a large buy-in.

"There are a whole host of public health impacts that are going to hit home, so we've got to do better in protecting vulnerable Americans," Obama added in an interview with CNN.

"Ultimately, though, all of our families are going to be vulnerable. You can't cordon yourself off from air or climate."

Poor, poor Mr. Bear how forlorn he looks.
