To answer your question: it's because this is what those who control the energy sector want.  Once the rights to, say, hydrocarbon resources have been pinned down and solidified then it is economically desirable to achieve a high price for the resource rather than a low one.  Scarcity is one tool which helps achieve this.

The really amusing thing is how fear, guilt and shame are used to make the peeps blame themselves and happily pay the extra price for what is actually age old and fairly simple market manipulation.

I'm graduate in power engineering.  And i can say that most statements which are about fossil fuels like coal or oil is true.

Most people with a grasp of the scientific method see the fraud right away.  The other things you mention have no relationship to the climate change issue.  Indeed, 'flat earth' was invented for the purpose of lumping it in with resistance to things which the establishment is pumping just like you did above.  They use it for other things like vaccines as well.

On the other hand, the 'climate change' has become literally a doomsday cult replete with various chants (e.g., '97% of scientists say...') and a parade of high priests like Al Gore.  It's fairly comical actually.

When president Trump says he may do 'dastardly things' to Iran, screwing with their rainfall would certainly fit the bill.
