Actually that's the common problem when it comes gambling wherein because of being had another thoughts reason you always made a mistakes that can cause regrets at the end.  If you continue playing and you are still uncertain on what you doing.  I suggest stop playing for a while  and come back once you're really ready on it.  Be specific because there's no way you can get back your losses on it.  Bear it on your mind.

He had a hard time moving on with that experience.
No doubt with that. It was a jackpot of $3000 dollars. Imagine, you were so close to winning but change of heart happened. If that happened to me, I'm sure it'll take me time before I can fully recover from that loss.

But, that's part of gambling. We never really know what would be the result or even what would happen next. I also had a same experience but with different game and with smaller prize at stake so I was able to move on quickly. The best advice I could give, I guess, is "better luck next time."

This really happens to my friend in a horse racing, he is making a good run of winning he was in a winner take all bet and he needs to only win one, before he buys a ticket a winner take all-ticket, he has doubt on his bet on the 7th race because he is not the main favorite, he opted  for the favorite of race 7

He wins bet on all the 6 races  and he just needs one win and he is confident that the horse who he picks for a replacement on the horse he first bet to win the race, in the end, he loses the big jackpot in the 7th race because the horse that comes out the winner happens to be the horse he replaced with the favorite, he loses $3000 jackpot because of that.

He had a hard time moving on with that experience.
I have already experienced this one especially when I’m on the winning situation where I am always thinking and doubting “should I take it all? What if I lose? What if I win? Or will only get one so that if I lose I am not that depressed”. In gambling we have so many what if but it is true that without risk you can’t win the Jackpot so in order to win big you should also ready to lose big.

First, no one will know what will happen next.
Your friend almost wins, so that teach us not to be greedy in his story.
If we can get the money in the 6 races, then I think we need to quit as soon as possible and don't expect to get another winning in the next races because you know the answer.
In the first 6 races, I am sure he has big luck so he can win all of the races, but unfortunately, in the last race, his luck is gone, and he cannot win the jackpot.
Fortunately, I don't have experience as your friend, and I always quit if I can win more than 5 times because I feel that the next games will not be the same for me.
We should get a good lesson from the story that we don't need to think that the next game will be on our side.
The luck will come by itself and never tells us.

I've regretted a large number of bets I've made in the past, especially with CS:GO betting where I'd flip my bet towards the overdog team from the underdog team while odds were extremely good for the underdog team, and the overdog would end up losing. That's actually a big part of why I often just place small-to-medium bets on underdogs with CS:GO betting nowadays, because the risk-to-reward ratio of betting on the favored team of some matchups is just terrible, and I find it's a bit more interesting to watch how the less favored team behaves and strategizes to counter the opposing better team.

When you are in gambling even you made small mistakes don't regret it, just move on and take this as a part your experience that you should correct by the next time. Good gamblers had a wise choice and don't hesitate of what you have been bet, don't change it. Once you have a loss, accept those things. Always remember that you are in gambling just to enjoy, don't get into depress or make angry just for a wrong decision. Nevertheless, that is not a good practice.
Sometimes there are events wherein we can't avoid regretting to our decision specially if we are talking about huge loss and that's normal. However, things can never get back and we can't go back from that time so that we can't alter our decision. Our time only moves forward at constant rate thus in every mistake instead of blaming ourselves, it'll be better to find a way to recover it in a way that it's less riskier in order for you not to commit the same mistake.
Mistakes like these are unavoidable and its always been part not only on gambling but on all decisions in life we do make.
We cant go back in time to correct those mistakes thats why its important to move on and realize on what you had done so that
on your next bets you are pretty aware on what would you gonna do.Dont rely on guts or intuition because not all anytime this thing works
but we cant deny that there are lucky shots on basing into this guts thing.

Things like this happens, it somethings that we do not want to happen but it happens, we have to always prepare on what's going to happen and admit that these things happen and if you are not comfortable with this things then do not gamble to save you on this kind of scenario.

Its kinda normal thing even for a casual gambler to be in the middle of hesitation, what makes it worse is when there were only two choices to decide which one would you like to place your bet. Happened commonly in sports betting, when you over analyzed the match up. After convincing yourself to place the bet on the first choice, yet you go over their match up history. Sometimes looking at their past match up history (example : NBA, Fifa) will mess up your sport analysis.

I have never changed a bet in my life as I don’t think playing around will help once you have already made up your mind.I don’t play horse racing but when I place a sport bet I am convinced at 100% for my choice and after I place the bet I never look back.Sorry for your friend.

Yeah, isn't that worst experience when you are  gambling? Mine was not in a gambling site but it is still related because it was on altcoins. I was going to buy more of eth back in January but changed my mind and just use it to invest in stocks because there is a hype on the new listed stock. If only I did not change my mind and bet on Eth then I could have made my investments almost 4x.

That was money turned into stone. LOL!

I've always made errors in my bets. A lot of them. But I can easily move on, no regrets. Crying over spilled milk does not bring the lost opportunities back. I think this somehow helps me stick to gambling. I can lose a significant amount and move on quickly and probably bet again the following day.

During the 9th The International (TI9) I've placed so many bets, shifted from one live game to another to place another better or bigger bet. The day sometimes ends with me realizing I've placed bets to both of the opposing teams, placed larger bets to the riskier ones while placing smaller to the safer ones, etc. Money is sometimes wasted in the process. Perhaps the only regret is that I didn't organize my bets well enough.

This always makes me lose most of my bets, especially football matches, Sometimes I think about how it will make me win the gamble. The uncertainty in the last stage makes me regret. Undecided

I also experienced that and this will make you depressed, imagine changing your mind at the last pace only to lose everything you've worked hard over the course of the game, you rather change your mind and lose at the beginning of the game than lose everything when you only need to win the last pace.

I am sure he will hard to move on from the losses, but he needs to forget that if he doesn't want to feel regret in all days. That is how luck works, gamblers will not know when he can win all of the bet, and if we only have to win 1 more time, then we should know that the luck will not stay with us. That is a lesson to him that when we were playing gambling, we are difficult to win because all in all, we need the luck factor that will help us to win. He can win 6 times, and that is because the luck stays with him, but unfortunately, he is lost. I don't have those experience, and I think my gambling experience was not too emotionally as the other people.

He had a hard time moving on with that experience.
If your friend had a hard time moving on with that experience, then he shouldn't be gambling at all. I notice a lot of people trying to gamble but failed to know that it's all chance. There is no certainty towards the action that you are going to do or the outcome that you should expect. It's all about having the capacity to know what to do when a situation happens. That's the first problem that you may encounter and would continue in a series of problems then becomes an addiction.

What I remembered when I read your post is that the time I decided to click on BET again. It's those times that I encountered I shouldn't have bet again is the one I regret. But I don't want to be stuck in that past so I just move on and never looked back. I remind myself of what I lost there and what I could lose if I continue gambling more.

I just experienced it yesterday when I'm watching a basketball event in our country. I'm thinking to bet on Team A before the start of the game but out of nowhere, I put my bet on Team  B on spread. Now after 2 quarters, Team A is on the lead by 20+ points. I felt regret at that time but since I have extra funds, I put a counter bet on it to get the funds I bet on first bet and won luckily.
It's hard to fell into such messed where you made a mistake changing your original pick then lose. Lcky for you countering your selected pick and recovered your previous loss but not everyone can do the same most of the time they'll just let it go and accept the fact that it's all messed up and they will move on with another set of picks.

I've experienced it, but not in horse racing, and that experience I still often get, especially playing dice gambling,
often when I change my choices, that's what comes out,
like I searched below 0.1 and suddenly changed above 99.1 suddenly which appeared below 0.1,
even if I don't follow my heart and don't change it, sometimes my heart is right,
and is there any suggestion if you have experienced this too ?.

Obviously, regretting that changing bets often occurs by most gamblers and it was a decision that made him collapse immediately after the winning streak he had previously obtained. So in this case I just feel it is greed, because in gambling we must have a limit when the right time to stop, even though we do not get the jackpot but at least we are not greedy and stop gambling with satisfaction with the results that have been obtained.
