If there is a gambler who is totally dependent on winning gambling, perhaps this gambler thinks that gambling is his last resource to find a solution to his problem. and if he didn't win or didn't get what he expected, he would be very stressed, for sure.

This kind of expectation of a gambler when playing gambling is not a good move because it will only cause problems when we do this in the reality of life.

You get used to good things very quickly. If your friend won, he may have decided that life is so easy and that his calling and way of earning money is gambling. I have also met similar people who get depressed after losing. But I always have a question: why did all these people decide that they should always be in the black? What's wrong with them? Arrogance, vanity? I think this is the most common form of stupidity and laziness. Lady Fortune sometimes turns her face towards us, but how we behave serves as a further lesson in life. Sometimes the first success brings subsequent tears.

He already gained a lot of money, if I were him I'd stop at that point or maybe more early than it and just enjoy all my winnings.
What he did is the definition of greed and when the last bet lost, it hit him hard with regrets that it made him sick. This kind of loss should just pass by and let it be an addition to the learning experience. He still did great at increasing his profits at that point and maybe you should remind him of that as a friend.
What he lacks is the discipline on when to stop and I don't blame him because many gamblers do have this kind of problem. But again, he already has the experience from what recently happened to him and it will be a reminder every time he is already making profits. The stopping point is what he needs, a plan on where to say that its enough and should take a rest.

I met a friend who used about $1 to play gamble to win about $2500 in a game of different matches, all the early games went well but the last game cut which made him loose the game.  This lose made him to be sick for 3 days, the reason for his reaction was not because of the money he used to bet but he felt so bad because he has already put all his hope on the money he would have won.

Have been in this world many times and I can feel his anger. This happened a lot when your desire exceed your finance and then yiu begin to hope on gambling and it is when your hopes are high the bet do cut, most of the time is even the last game that do cut these tickets. Just imagine having a 10 games where you stake $1 and 9/10 had played and all won left with 1 remaining, either you voluntarily put mind or not, the mind will be there but putting all hopes on it is not good, there is no way you wouldn't full the impact if it eventually failed. That's how dangerous it is to hope on betting for living.

Quote
People needs not to put all their hope in games they are not sure of winning, because relying on it can be very dangerous to the mental health. Play gamble and remove your mind from the money that will be gained till it is achieved.

Sometimes, isn't there fault, some situations will make you have hopes and them all of sudden, it collapse and then you have to start again. Not good to depend on money from gambling but having your games coming upto 97% chance of almost winning and then everything went down zero is traumatizing particularly when big money is involved.

There are even sometime you lost gambling descipline in this similar situations, you just don't know how to help it but over react. However, staying long and angry about it is not good. Laugh it off and try again.

The experience you have with your friend is even better than mine, I have a friend that well thought he is going to win in a sports bet and he already make some financial steps with the hope that he would pay back the money with the money he didn't won yet, I don't know about this until he got arrested, he was in debt because he lose the game and he was forced to sign an agreement to start paying back the money every month.

I am confused here, sorry to say that. Do you mean that you friend was spending his wins in advance when he hasn't won yet. Damn it, some gamblers are full of shit, for having a 100% believe that their bet must be a win.

Some gamblers are going extra miles on this gambling of a thing, for they think that winning is consistent, or don't they doubt their games, or there is nothing like losing in their dictionary. When I am gambling, I do have the anxiety of winning but along the line when I remember that there is no guarantee that I will win. Whatever outcome that the game turns to be, I will accept my fate.

If along the line, I win the game, I will happy that I was lucky because if I think that it was by my own strategy that I won the game, this might make me keep on playing because I will feel that I have understood my game, which is not true.

It's not really gambling per se, it's more like that roller coaster ride of emotions. How old is your friend? It should be more apparent the older you are, it's not an exaggeration when you see shows of people having heart attacks or something similar when they're agitated or not. I reckon it happened to your friend since it was a pretty long-ish session, considering he started from $1 to $2.5k. Though I guess it also depends on your constitution.

Doesn't negate the fact that you should expect wins all the time though. The act itself was okay imo, I mean I'd be down to play more if I got lucky to make a $1 to 2.5k, and even if I lost, I would've technically lost nothing.

How many times we need to repeat gambling is for fun and not for making money? I feel like everyday there's always someone create a new thread talk about a gambler don't have a self control and treat gambling is for making money.

People need to get a job and working hard to achieve their dreams instead of gambling when your financial aren't stable.

You can’t rely on potential gambling winnings as income. It just doesn’t work for the vast majority of people. Gambling should be a hobby, you should see it as fun. The moment it stops being fun is the moment you need to stop and assess what you’re doing.

Never gamble with more money than you can afford to lose. It’s just worth the misery that losing brings.

A dollar to 2500dollars is firstly a skeptical news to digest. But the second part is completely palatable.

Such losses are not new in the gambling industry and players are known to have made the mistake of either going greedy or chasing a loss, both of which are fatal mistakes. The trick to avoid this from happening is stopping as soon as the winning bet is cleared and cashing out from the casino to never come back. But this is practically not possible for any gambler in the heat of the situation.

Tell your friend that this should be a learning experience for them and not to repeat it.

Your friend is mentally weak and he shouldn't be gambling. No matter what the outcome might be, if you are using as low as $1, you shouldn't really care even if you lose the last match or one in the middle, you already know that you might win but you can also lose, so it shouldn't affect you that much no matter how close you got. I know it feels bad seeing you lose something you got so close to but if you can't take that gracefully, you shouldn't get to it in the first place.

A person should know their nature and how much control they have over themselves and their emotions, and they should do everything based on that. Your friend got sick for three days because he didn't win the money he was expecting to win with just $1, I wonder what would have happened if he had lost $2,500 from his pocket.

Gambling with no expectation of winning the bet is the best way to approach every bet you make so that you will not be disappointed when you lose, about your friend he fell too deep due to his winning streak that is why he isn't satisfied even after he made 250x in those three days, hope this is the first time that he caught up in that situation cause clearly its a sign of addiction and for someone with such characteristics need to have restrictions for themselves to gamble safe in future.

Getting obsessed with gambling is a serious mental disease. Gambling itself is not a bad thing as long as you can control yourself but the moment you find yourself dreaming about big wealth, it gets dangerous. Gambling is just a way of passing time, nothing else. In the long run you are expected to lose money because the games are designed that way. If it was possible to win in the long run (like a job) then the casinos wouldn’t make any profits and just like any other business that can’t generate profits, they would go bankrupt. If you want to generate a reliable cash flow, you should invest in income producing assets or just get a job.

This is typical human behavior and not mental issues....
When they have won big but the desire for more is even more peaked. Grin

People are greedy by nature.... they want to win big and when they do, they want this to continue... and it seldom happens. A lot of people get gambler regret, where you bet a small amount and you win something big, but you still regret not betting a higher amount... thinking that the win would have been so much bigger.  Roll Eyes
Human nature is always greedy,,, they want to win even more even though it is more than enough, the name is also gambling, the heat and emotionality increase so of course he will play multiply but after losing obviously it will be a regret.

People should not take gambling too serious..... just have fun and see it as entertainment.  Grin
Ahh there are still many people who take gambling seriously,,, when they lose they reflect that wise people should know that gambling is for fun.

That's what happens to people who put too much hope in gambling. When everything doesn't go the way he wants and makes him experience defeat, that's where he won't be able to see it. And your friend has experienced the consequences and was sick for 3 days.

He must realize that when he can win from gambling, he must immediately leave the casino with his winnings. He doesn't need to gamble anymore because he has managed to win a lot of money, especially if he only uses $1 and can win $2500.

That was a valuable lesson for him. Hopefully, he realizes his mistake and doesn't repeat it. Gambling is fine, but he must remember that he cannot always win easily and if he has won, it is better to immediately withdraw the winnings and leave from there.

with a bet amount of $1 to win $2500 does your friend bet on sports betting?

let me guess, is your friend betting for the first time? I mean, if your friend often bets, he certainly not fall ill for 3 days because he failed to win. because someone who has often bet on all types of bets will never feel as deep a disappointment as your friend and usually the disappointment will only appear for a few days and will disappear by itself without having to get sick.

I am a little curious about your friend and I am sure this is the first time he experienced this, even though cases like this have often happened, but no one has fallen ill just because of $1. maybe you need to give him advice and say that gambling is luck and if it fails, just think that the day is ready and gambling will not be that easy to give money to its customers.

TBH, I often experience this in sports betting with multi bets and the bet amount is usually $10-30, but when I fail to get it, it is very disappointing when I fail just because I lose one match, but I dont think about it deeply and I just consider it unlucky today.

Building my own Dreams!
Gambling is done to make quick profits in shorter period of time. This also means that it should be done in limit and the amount you gambling should be not for savings or emergency funds. I would suggest not to rely on gambling for making consistent money. You can do a part time job to make consistent money and then use some of it to gamble and try your luck. In this way your mental health can be improved.

When i never have deep revelation concerning gambling then if i places a bet would began to think of my problems to solved with the money i have never win for just a game i placed, whenever this games cuts me out or off i will think all the days sometimes i do fell sick and i won't be able to take any food for that day or even to the next day before eating along the line i started getting lean at some point i wasn't able to control myself so decided to stop gambling for while after positioning and learning to build my emotion then may come back. That was how i started then till i overcome that spirit so, today even though placing bet i don't think about it because i know two thing possible ( win or lose).

This is the problem when you win a big amount of money and you think that you have luck or you are good at gambling because eventually the house edge and bad luck will play their part and you will be caught by surprise, not understanding what gambling is and taking it seriously is dangerous, your experience is not isolated so many newbie gamblers experience this.

Gambling is dangerous for gambler's mental health if their approach is wrong, gambling should be for entertainment only not a way to make money, this has been discussed thousands of times but so many players ignore this fact because the mindset changes when you start winning and realization happens when you lose everything.

Hoping to win big is normal, but anyone should be ready for the opposite. I guess your friend placed a parlay bet with odd 2,500x and maybe he lost it because of 1-2 games which is indeed annoying and disappointing moment. I do place parlay bet some time and I know how it feels when a parlay bet is lost due to 1-2 games only but it is how it works. I'm not sure why it makes your friend sick for 3 days, is it his first time try? Is he new to gambling? Fun fact, mental health may come because of both lose and win. Someone who is not ready for both side may lead them into negative effects including mental.

The more events in a multibet, the greater the probability of losing this bet, everyone who likes to collect large odds knows this. Most often it happens that one or two events do not allow you to win, so I don’t like multibet games where there are more than two (very rarely more than three) events. Ideally, it would be to make single bets, this will always minimize possible losses. I understand that you want to get x2000 in one game, but you need to understand that most of these bets will be lost.

There's a good saying that goes, "Money on the exchange or in the casino isn't truly yours, no matter how much you've won. It only becomes yours when you cash out."
Gambling will definitely put your mental and emotional health at risk. That is the reason why as much as possible, do not see gambling as a means to bring you profits all the time. Gambling will never guarantee us to keep on winning. And believing that gambling can be a reliable source of income is a very dangerous thing. Instead, gamble to make yourself relax and entertained, and not in a way that it will pressure you especially if what you are getting in the end is a series of losses that put your life’s savings in danger.
A lot of folks engage in gambling with the intention of making a profit rather than just for fun. The thrill of winning or losing adds an exciting element, keeping them engaged. Consider this: if there's no potential to win or lose money, and you're playing purely for fun, gambling loses some of its appeal.
