I met a friend who used about $1 to play gamble to win about $2500 in a game of different matches, all the early games went well but the last game cut which made him loose the game.  This lose made him to be sick for 3 days, the reason for his reaction was not because of the money he used to bet but he felt so bad because he has already put all his hope on the money he would have won.

People needs not to put all their hope in games they are not sure of winning, because relying on it can be very dangerous to the mental health. Play gamble and remove your mind from the money that will be gained till it is achieved.
your friend is a complete jerk , from 1 dollar to x2500 yet did not decide to take our the wins and go home?
why on earth that there is a person such this? what he wanted is to win a million or will never stop until the casino goes bankrupt ?
he is lucky to did not commit suicide from that incident because this can make a person total wreck.
he goes beyond His luck and challenge that luck if how much this can bring him.
sorry for the word but this is what he deserve to understand the nature of gambling.

Those of us who participate in gambling, even though we participate for entertainment, still expect to earn. There is no one who doesn't expect to earn from betting almost everyone expects to earn by winning there bets. But here every person should not expect to win that bet after participating in gambling because that bet can be lost at any moment. We all make these mistakes when we place a bet and are eager enough to win it and one time we feel bad when the bet loses. As a result, many people get sick of this bad feeling and many develop a different aversion to betting. Here we have to participate in betting with confidence and hundred percent certainty so that we don't lose the bet and we don't risk all this health.

I always suggest my gambler friends to treat money they gamble as a loss until gamble is closed. With this mindset, you will never feel bad at all cause you will only offer money that you can accept to lose. Some gamblers think that money they lose through gambling is stolen. Its very disruptive thinking for mental health. To be honest, we should have better education to teach people how gambling mechanism works so people won't behave unproductive and unhealthy.

Makes ya think of the old saying, don't count your chickens before they hatch if ya ask me. If you are down to 1 leg left in a parlay, look for a way to hedge your bet so that you come out a winner no matter what. Yes you lose some money doing this as you either win 1 way or the other, but you guarantee yourself a payout.

Even though gambling winning is very sweet, it is very risky relying solely on it. It is always better to make gambling a means of passive income and not a full time job. Gambling requires funding and when there is no stable income, there will be a huge impact on the psychology especially when there is serious loss that is always possible in gambling.

I’d prefer not to see gambling as a means where any type of income can be generated. It’s best if you place a bet leisurely and with an open mind, definitely not anxious and overly hoping for a win. That way, when you win, you would feel very happy and thrilled irrespective of the amount won.
Gambling does requires funding and when taken as a side gig with very high hopes for some extra income to be made, then you’ll sooner or later find yourself funneling a large chunk of your main income into gambling having renewed unrealistic hope that the big win is within reach until you get wrecked financially.

Why should this be dangerous to one's mental health, when we can also have an expectation on other things about life and they may not come through as expected and we never loose our senses at the cause, i will only go against the category of addicted and jobless kind of gamblers who have taken this a must to make win, those who take extra steps in making their personal ambition come to reality wether good or bad.
It is clearly dangerous because when someone expects or relies on victory excessively but what happens does not match expectations it can trigger person emotional level and worse it can affect person mental state for the worse.
Not all gamblers will experience something like this but many have experienced the stress of every failure with excessive expectations of big things.
But actually whether you are an unemployed gambler or gambling addict even professional gambler it is not recommended to always be ambitious in winning at gambling because the negative impact of all this can be very dangerous for everyone and you can of course understand this in more detail when you really learn how to approach it and respond to gambling well.

If we put our hope in gambling and our mindset is that this will be your source of income, oh, it's not right for you to have this mindset for yourself. Because the gambling you expect will surely disappoint you. And this is probably what happened to your friend, right?

It's not right to want too much; besides, there are many ways to make a profit, because gambling is only good if you just want to have fun for a while; it's not a place to spend your time to make money. There are many opportunities when it comes to profit; try to look around. Or use the skills you have.
It is true that we should not have a mindset like that, because it will indirectly become a burden and damage our own mental health, even though we all know for sure that gambling cannot be expected because we expect big wins to be received, instead we lose continuously. . will occur.

I agree, gambling is not an opportunity to earn income, but by looking around us at activities or skills that we can do and will make us earn money there.

Once you have no what you have targeted and your addiction will also make your addrenaline to push your curiousity to get back your capital or win the profit from playing it. Anything reached addiction level was not good for our health.
People can't only relying to win from gambling. People will still always try to reach their personal ambition by doing various things. It doesn't even matter whether it was involving huge risk for their mental health.
The main problem if people will always have big expectations to win the jackpot.

Sometimes, I ask myself how hopeful the gambling industries has made it customers - to the extent of thinking of means to survive from gambling??..huh?
I don't ever think I'd allow anyone around me to do so as that would only make Thier state of survival worse. I think I'd only support gambling if you've got enough cash already - cus diving into gambling isn't freedom, when you're encraved in it's selfish urge, you're in total bondage.

It is still freedom because the person chooses to be in total bondaged.  Anyway, gambling really stimulate ones brains, depending on the result.  We got excited and happy when we are at winning streak and got frustration, stress, regret and depression when we are always at the losing end.

Since gambling result is random, our brains and emotions are greatly stimulated, I believe that relying on gambling for our source of fund is very dangerous not only in our mental health but also in our financial status.  Depression, frustration, stress, and regret can cause our mental health a lot of negative loads that can affect our sanity.  It is worsen by the negative impact in our financial capability since uncontrolled gambling often times results in a loss.

How long can one keep their thoughts off their money until the bet is successful? What if someone only selects that method to double their money? One thing is certain: many people depend on gambling for a living since they have no other options for employment. I'm sorry for your friend's loss; he may have made plans for how he will spend the money if he wins it. I can say that allowing ourselves to become addicted to gambling was the worst aspect of it because everyone who chose to gamble as a job always sees that as the only way for them to succeed in life since that is the only thing they are skilled at. so i can say that allowing ourselves getting addicted to gambling when we don't enough money to keep on gambling will affect our health.

That is all that has happened. You had already decided that you had won the Money. That is when you see that one out of your games have ruined your mood, and some people find it hard to stop gambling, because is not good to us.

Indeed. Winning in gambling is always very pleasant. But don't let the win to trigger us to gamble excessively. There are many people who end up with over gambling because they think to win more and more when they use bigger amount of money. Just gamble with reasonable budget/funds, don't try too obsessed of the wins. That's what I learned after gambling for years in any casinos.

And indeed the thrill of victory is what everyone is always looking for and looking forward to, so even though sometimes the amount of their losses is greater than the victory but it's like nothing - nothing when they have managed to get a victory, I mean 10 defeats may be treated with just one victory even though the amount is still very far away and losses still dominate. True, we should not gamble because of the basis for victory or looking for victory because obviously the impact of defeat often makes them down, but in fact only a few have a healthy mindset in gambling, on average well as we know they come always with high expectations. Basically, their normal logic or mind is inferior to the opportunities that are there that make their hopes high when in fact it is just nonsense.

Trying to make gambling to be a full time job, seems not make sense for me. What I know, there is no guarantee for the wins in gambling. It means we can't expect to always gain money from gambling. If we make it as full time job, how we fulfill our daily/weekly/monthly spending. We need a job that can guarantee for our income monthly. It is something we can't get in gambling.

Of course how can you make gambling a full-time job while there only rely on luck to be able to make money, obviously it doesn't make sense, because yes as you said, there is absolutely no guarantee of victory no matter how much capital you bring, it's still if you are unlucky, you lose. So we have to be more realistic in seeing this gambling, you can gamble just for fun and to fill spare time when off work, it's better and also don't overdo it.

When you are really not mentally ready, stay away from gambling. Because, this can really make you not only sick physically but also mentally, experiencing various forms of depression and prolonged stress, which of course will also have a bad impact on your overall health.
And maybe your friend is just one of the many people who also have the same problem when losing money in gambling. When reality really doesn't match expectations, even though we have very high hopes, are really gambling to get money, and imagine buying or doing something with that money, but in fact, it's all not real. And this is what often hurts many people when they lose in gambling.

What your friend feels is normal reaction in the face of failure and disappointment. It is all part of our makeup as human beings when we face disappointment we are angry we lose appetite we depressed and it is fine.
This might just be fine when he gets support from many people around him and also he really realizes that he can get very valuable learning from this. However, if he cannot manage his emotions and mentality, it will be very difficult for him to be able to move on and return to normal. Indeed, in this case, support from those closest to you is really needed to strengthen your mentality and refresh your thinking.

How many times we need to repeat gambling is for fun and not for making money? I feel like everyday there's always someone create a new thread talk about a gambler don't have a self control and treat gambling is for making money.

People need to get a job and working hard to achieve their dreams instead of gambling when your financial aren't stable.
The OP said that it wasn't about the money but it is because of too much hope. There is clearly a problem on that gambler and it wasn't the fault of gambling on why he got sick or what. His mental health needs to get checked because it can also occur on any other things and not just by playing gambling alone.

Achieving dreams is not always about money or having a job but it can be on any other things too or activity and that is why there are people who plays gambling. As an old gambler like us, we already know the hazards of gambling if we take it seriously but there are always new people who enter this world. And if you are annoyed with it, you should ignore the whole gambling discussion board.

Relying on any game of chance or investment will run you to the ground.

No sane person will bet their mental state on a game of chance.

Imagine that you saw a man flipping a coin and he'd decide if he's going to be depressed or happy based on the outcome. You'd say he's insane, right?
How can you put your future on the line by betting too much when you know it destroys you?

I bet from time to time but it never gets me down. I know that I can lose and I'm ready to accept it.

This doesn't sound like a healthy situation for your friend, maybe you should talk to him and try to offer him some help. Going from 1 USD to 2.500 sounds like insane profit, winning such bets must have had very small chance to begin with. No idea how many bets you need to combine for such a profit, but it must be a lot. Why didn't your friend just cash out when there was only one game left? Combi bets are nice to increase your payouts, if you manage to pick the right matches. For me it never worked out with combi bets, I always ended up losing in the end similar to your friend. But I usually only combine 3-4 bets as I already struggle with them. Nonetheless we can't rely on making a profit with such small chances and if we feel sick after the bet then we did something wrong. Usually betting only 1 USD shouldn't invest us too much and we should try and keep some distance to our bets as emotions can lead to wrong decision making.

Those with limited means should stay away from gambling. It is not an earning source but fun activity. The thrill to win is what drives most to give it a try. If you are a professional gambler, then this is not applicable to you . In that case, you have to keep improving your skills to earn more.
They should not approach gambling because it will only get them into trouble. But unfortunately, people see that many people who start gambling can win. That makes them try gambling even though they already know there is a risk of losing.

And if they manage to win from gambling, it also doesn't guarantee they can stop immediately. Gambling can keep him playing, especially if he wins some money. Again, that makes people stay longer in the casino to play other gambling games.

And if they want to make money, they can try sports betting. However, they must learn to analyze the match by looking for information from various places. But it takes time before they can get good analytical skills.
