I met a friend who used about $1 to play gamble to win about $2500 in a game of different matches, all the early games went well but the last game cut which made him loose the game.  This lose made him to be sick for 3 days, the reason for his reaction was not because of the money he used to bet but he felt so bad because he has already put all his hope on the money he would have won.

People needs not to put all their hope in games they are not sure of winning, because relying on it can be very dangerous to the mental health. Play gamble and remove your mind from the money that will be gained till it is achieved.

It's OK to feel bad for a day or two, after you have lost a big amount of money via gambling. The most important thing is to recover mentally and physically from this loss and move on with your life. I can't say that I have very big hopes of winning big in gambling, but I would feel really bad as well, if I've lost the opportunity to win 2500 USD via gambling. What's going on with your friend right now? Is he OK?

A large portion of people who gamble as a means of making some income usually end up borrowing money to continue playing still having hopes of having that big enough win to cover up all losses. It’s absurd how people would seek to earn constant income from gambling. Financial ruin awaits such individuals.
It happens to someone who is desperate enough to become rich and just thinks that gambling could be the way to achieve it. It is absolutely dangerous to mental health because the more they think about winning, the more it causes losses to them. In fact, in the first place, we already know that gambling can't give us any assurance to win.

There is wrong with gambling but the big problem is that most people have become addicted and even commit huge debts in order to continue their gambling life.

I have seen similar reactions on people that actually lost a lot of money, and I think it makes sense that they even get sick as it is a very painful experience to lose so much money over such a short time span, however I do not think the reaction of your friend makes sense as he did not owned that money, he simply lost a bet like all of us have experimented on the past, and I really think he should reevaluate his attitude towards gambling as it seems he thinks he can become profitable with it, when we know only a small minority of fortunate gamblers can do this.

Your friend isn't the only one who have developed that kind of mindset, as I have seen several cases like that in this forum and based the experience of other gamblers that I have also known. I think the problem with this kind of mindset is we tend to forgot that gambling is not always about winning and earning money, rather before we engage in any gambling activities we should recognize that there would be risk and there is a huge potential that we might lose our money. Because if we continue to think that we are always going to win in gambling games, then it would really affect our mental health because we do not recognize the risk. Simply, we are not prepared and that cannot accept that we lost. So, having a mindset that our win is always secured will surely intensify our regrets. So, don't expect too much.

Indeed, gambling can be an opportunity to earn income, but not everyone will get this opportunity, because what each person experiences is different.
Irrespective of the luck behind every wining on gambling so many persons has greatly achieve a lot of things through gambling, one of the things I understand from gambling is that strategy use in gambling matters a lot because there are people who consistently win on gambling based on the strategy they normally use.

However a strategy is better using a small Odds that has a higher chances of always wining instead of aiming
high, so perhaps there are good opportunity to make money on gambling but many people were not able to utilize it either by greed or the kind of gambling method they normally do.
Yes, that's right, there are still people who can't use strategy in their gambling so they can't find their own luck. With this person's insensitivity even though the strategy used is correct and good, the possibility of continuous defeat will occur. , and this is the main factor. also from the person himself, if you can't gamble then it's better to stop or not continue, so you don't regret it and experience huge losses. And this impact can also cause health or mental problems for oneself if it is not immediately limited or stopped. Yes, I agree with you, because there are still many people who are greedy to get more money from gambling, they will use the wrong strategy just to chase victory, not using good methods and utilizing the right strategy.

This is very true because I had a friend who nearly collapse because of the traumatic experience he had because of the win that he would have gotten from a parley game he played, the game was ten in total and nine of the prediction has all gotten through but one  games was still undecided, but not long the after the remaining one  started and on the 90+2 minutes one of additional time of that particular game and the team which was already winning the game, until a shock and surprising thing happen. The game that was already winning for the bet was equalized  and the bet was lost and disappointment was the era of the day for this my friend and this was because he had put high hopes on the game turning out to be victorious.

As far as that scenario, who wouldn't put high hopes that he could win his parlay? Of course, if I'm in the same case, I will also be very happy and maybe praying to the gambling Gods that I just needed to win one more to get that huge win. Nevertheless, it's not over till the last second of the game, and it's very very hard to see that game when you think that you are almost there winning, and suddenly it was equalized by the other team.

And it also shows us, that most of the time, it's based on luck. If you are lucky that day, no one can really stop you from winning. But there are cases that you are almost there, you can taste the money going into your hands and maybe you already have plans on what to do that. But in the end, we really need to wait till the final score and “Don't count your chickens before they hatch”, because it's going to be very painful and it might affect our mentally.

From this story, I must say that i know which kind of people you friend is, and it’s the type that think himself not just lucky enough but he can’t be mistaken in his decision. And with some more luck in his side with his first days gambling that a perfect timing bomb ready to bomb into addiction and a very bad experience with gambling.
Best option for him is to reconsider his thoughts about gambling and think twice before thinking he is special or can beat the casino. Betting is only based on luck also, sports betting won’t give you the perfect odds so the better team or player will always have lowest odds and the opposite for the weaker part.

Feeling bad due to gambling while it should be the quite opposite, it’s a call to stop or at least recalculating your thoughts.

Yes, gambling is entertainment, so we don't need to be too serious about gambling. In my opinion, if we are too serious about gambling then we will usually become gambling addicts and it will get worse. The story shows that he was so serious in his betting that it hurt him when he guessed wrong, he was overconfident and he was not prepared to lose.

As you said, casinos have a higher chance of winning so don't expect to always win against casinos

I few time that i made such mistakes of putting some hope in my bets to make something good, it all ended in regret and bad feelings because I lost both games at separate times so since then I become more conscious of my actions and I never rely on or put faith in any bet, no matter how sure those games are but also I know that gambling is not a source of income and should be done just for fun, but this days allot of gamblers now rely on gambling most especially on sports bets to make daily ends needs.
Making bets on multiple games only increases the risk of the gambler since the risk becomes higher with multiple games selection compared to when you only pick a single game and make a bet on that one games.

I don’t think it’s that bad having a little bit of hope here and there whenever a bet is placed. What I would advise against is having high expectations for your bet that you unconsciously start planning on how to spend your winnings on making various purchases when you haven’t actually won anything yet. I guess having unrealistic high hopes could also hurt when there is a loss later on.

A large portion of people who gamble as a means of making some income usually end up borrowing money to continue playing still having hopes of having that big enough win to cover up all losses. There a lot of people I know that whenever they place a bet they automatically begin to plan their financially in accordance with the amount of their potential winning even when they're not sure of they were gonna win or not and that I think is absolutely insensitive for anyone to do. It's one thing to be hopeful whenever someone places a bet but the act of totally relying on the placed bet for financial fortunes is surely not a good thing to do as it'll end of running the person's mental health of he doesn't end up winning the bet .

That's how gambling works, and your friend is ought to have known that gambling is just like a double edge sword, whereby you could win or lose, and whichever comes your way, accept it in good faith, because he is not the only one who have lost a bet due to cut-one, I have, and I also know how sad it feels to have won all games, but just only to lose the last game, of which that very act enough to had paralyzed some individuals, who might have already calculated how they will spend that money when you cash-out. But unfortunately, ended sad, which reminds me of a popular saying that "Gambling is not a game for the weak, but strong".

Not really that bad on making multiple bets as long you do really make use of the amount on which you could really that afford to lose in one go or session. It isnt really that totally different on the time that you do choose up a single game but going on doing all in but its really that true that nothing beats out on betting on a game on which you are really that totally been knowing or does have the knowledge comparing into those moments that you arent even sure on what it is. Its never been that something recommended on making bets that you arent really that knowledgeable about even if you do say that you are just playing for the sake of fun but there's no fun in it on speaking about making bets on something that you dont know. Expect the things specially on losing because gambling is really that you are really that bound to lose up money on which it would really be just that totally a common scenario.

Making a living with gambling couldnt really be that so easy, yes its possible but not something that anyone could be able to achieve or attain such state. Only a few could be able to do so and
it would really be only applicable into those games which could be analysis and strategy could really be applied and this is what makes things possible but its better
not to make yourself that pushing through this kind of career. Tons have tried but only a few do succeed.

We should never hope or think that we can win any gambling game or bet with 100% confidence as nothing is in our control. Its all about luck and no one knows what will be the outcome of every game we play.

To keep you happy and satisfied. i always say to myself that my next bet will fail. This makes me mentally prepare for the loss which may happen if I lose the bet. And in case, I win the bet, then it brings immense happiness because i never thought I would win and all this winning amount seems to be a welcome bonus for me.  Smiley

We just need to change our approach to how we look at gambling. The results will still be the same, not in our control but we can adjust our mindset with different strategies so that at the end of the day, we do not get down by the losses and we do not face any mental issues.

Ah, a hope that has a very slim probability.
BTW, I don't know what gambling your friends are playing. However, it seems that this type of exercise is the most ideal. and that too with various options for each betting session. It is important for most gamblers to understand, with only $1 capital, someone hopes or targets a win of $2500, which is the same as impossible.
imagine, how long we have to do each gambling session. how do we achieve what we target, then what skills that person has. Is he someone who is an expert in this field, a kind of pundit in football? Even so, every time a football pundit predicts a match, the results are not always consistent and according to his analysis. For us amateurs, we have limited knowledge regarding sports betting. It would be beyond our expectations if we applied the same pattern as your friend did. even if anyone can do it, he is a lucky person and nothing more.

Referring to the title of your thread, actually there is nothing wrong with that. but what is wrong is what your friend did.
For me personally, winning a bet with odds of one to one of the winning result is more than enough. especially, if someone expects something that is difficult to do. Except, if your friend wants to experiment with how much he can turn $1 into $2500. Apart from requiring skill, instinct in every bet, it will also involve luck. The point is, there is nothing wrong if someone relies on winnings from gambling. but with conditions, according to capital and betting rationally.

and clearly, that's the repercussion of greed. if he kept some funds and not used all those winnings to bet, he won't be very sick of what he did. that's the dilemma of most gamblers. hoping that they will hit big using all their funds. do remember that this is gambling, anything can happen. so to make sure that you're not broke afterwards, keep something and not totally go in in every bet.

It is not a new thing to me that gamblers always have a high expectation for the potential winning they always see on their tickets, despite knowing that there is no assurance they will win. But I view those who are always relying on the tickets that they have not won as those who don't have another source of income and expect gambling or are gambling addicted. This always happens not only in the gambling section but also in other sections, like if someone has full hope that certain things will happen but later it doesn't work as someone planned it, it will surely affect them because of the high expectations they have for those particular things.

What happened to your friend has also happened to me before, when I bet and picked about 16 different teams from different leagues. The matches played were for about three days, so when the match started, the game was happening, and I predicted up to the second-to-last match, the last match, Manchester City against Norwich, for which I have much hope that Manchester City will win the match and I will win $300. So in the process of the last match, I have started calculating things that I will buy with that money because I have high hopes that I will win, but at last they defeated Manchester City that day despite Norwich being very weak that season. After the game ended, I did not get myself for two days.

I don't advice anyone to go for multi bets because is very dangerous, if not because of high expectation how came you bet $1 and expected the winning should be possible, the winning amount is very huge $2500 is small money,
multi bets do have high odds but it is very difficult to win all the matches we choose In fact I often do this and it always fails because 1 match is lost and I say this because I am a little curious whether what OP said is true with $1 bet in sports betting and almost won $2500, if that is true it must be very high odds and it is very rare to be able to win from a budget of $1 to $2500.
Multi bet is the fastest way to win big in gambling and also the fastest way to lose money too but then if you are careful enough with your picks and luck on your side you will definitely win big more often, I prefer muti bet than singles but then you can set a limit to your multi bet , probably you choose not to do more than 7-9 picks at a time on a particular bet slip and you are good.

You put yourself at more risk when you choose too many games at a time on a particular bet slip, as much as 15-50 picks on a single bet slip is just too much and risky, that even lower your chances of winning because they increased the odds of losses, but fewer pick helps with some level of accuracy in the game and why it becomes more advisable to reduce your picks.

Singles usually seem like the best options to play because they have higher winning chances and seem more accurate than when you make multiple picks but then they also happen to turn out losses at times too and they don't get you as much as muti bet would but they are less risky than multi bet. Which ever is your choice is fine as both turn out winings and losses aswell.

This happens to gamblers on a normal day. But the problem here is that your friend puts too much hope in the money; that's why he's sick. However, not all gamblers fall sick, as has happened to your friend. We normally feel some pain, though, but your friend needs to understand that that's not how it's worked. Sometimes we put hope in something, but it doesn't work as wanted, and that's why we need to gamble for fun, not to make money. I believe your friend has already budgeted something he will buy with that money after winning the ticket, which is wrong, and if your friend gambles for fun, he wouldn’t fall sick because he lost a ticket worth $1.

I don't advice anyone to go for multi bets because is very dangerous, if not because of high expectation how came you bet $1 and expected the winning should be possible, the winning amount is very huge $2500 is small money, I will not pity him on this incident even though is possible to bet one dollar and win 2500 dollars or more than that.

People use multiple bets to make more money as the odds will increase and the outcome will be huge, even though it’s a high risk of winning. We often win the ticket, but sometimes it should not be many games like that and you should put hope that the game will come, but seriously, sometimes multiple games do come, just like 3 or 4 matches is okay. But if there's anything more than that, then that gambler should not even have hope because I don't think it’ll be possible.

However, the OP friend made a mistake to stake $1 and expect $2,500 in return. How is this going to be possible, man? Even though we said gambling brings money, we also need to use sense because it’s free money. We should just be wasting funds on it. We need to analyse. We don’t need too much profit before we gather money.
