my miner wont launch at the listed pool. I try it with port 8339 as the getting started page says, and also 8340 as is described in the first message of this thread. Anyone know exatly what to type for address and port to get mining going here?

I love this idea. I absolutely love this idea.

It's so obvious, and logical, that a specific coin must be made to be spent in space. A terrific selling argument!

And also that a 66% premine is what will make this the coin of choice of everyone (it doesn't matter, right - after all, its the only coin you will be able to use outside the Earth!!) plus we'll all recover our investments if we ever need selling (although I don't see why you think we would want to...) since "the foundation has a goal of 5 million Orbitcoin to reach and will be actively BUYING from exchanges and miners in the early stages of Orbitcoin's life".

Sounds like one of those "no-risk", "guaranteed", "or your money back" business proposals!

I am also actively BUYING just like you. I am ready to pay:

1 infinitecoin per Orbitcoin.
1.5 infinitecoins per Orbitcoin if you sell me over 3 Orbitcoins.

How's that for a deal? You know, I need coins for my summer space travel.

EDIT: Due to the huge amount of requests received, I must say there's a limit of nine hundred thousand (900,000) Orbitcoins I can buy per person.

Orbitcoin, great coin! I'm gonna mine it, after I parked my spaceship to the geosynchronous orbit. Grin

Why not a polar orbit? Requires less fuel to get there.

Wow, who would have guessed the organisations cited in the original post would resort to such scams to raise funds?

What was the initial (starting) difficulty?

I am thinking they would at least have known to set it to something reasonable so if it was not we can guess this is a scam that is violating their good reputation by implying they have anything to do with this scam...

(Actually come to think of it, wouldn't at least one of those orgs know math or at least arithmetic? Hmmm...)

Yes, indeed, these guys are right:

Please, read the original post and do the math yourself. This is not lies or gossip they are truths. I have nothing to gain from informing people of what they are getting into.

it's a joke, 1 mil premine, and 1.5 mil total, lol

1.5 million total coins. Please correct the math to 66% premine

While your main.h contains this line:
Code:
static const int64 MAX_MONEY = 31000000 * COIN;

This is the code that determines the money supply:

Code:
// miner's coin base reward based on nBits
int64 GetProofOfWorkReward(int nHeight, int64 nFees, uint256 prevHash)
{
int64 nSubsidy = 0.25 * COIN;

if(nHeight < 11)
{
nSubsidy = 100000 * COIN;
}

nSubsidy >>= (nHeight / 1051200);

    return nSubsidy + nFees;
}
There are 10 blocks of 100,000 for the premine (1 million).  The rest of the mining is governed by the infinite series (1000 years is close enough).

What will be the solution?  Change the documentation to the 1.526 million coins?
