1. Just a link to a post
2. The full post? That's what I'm currently showing (kinda like WallObserver.tk)
3. Just a small part of each post? Maggiordomo did that, but it often showed the wrong part and it'll can mess up the layout.

Without hesitation, I prefer the 3rd solution.
For some members (MS/DT), having the full post is sometimes a little "heavy" and not really necessary (I think of this kind of post)

I think a link and the name of the author would be enough. The title of the thread would be nice as well. I see you're planning to purge notifications older than 7 days, but if it gets a lot of subscribers it might use up more disk space and bandwidth than want.

I think a workaround is on my TODO already: once I'm done, you can subscribe to quotes only, and not to mentions. Then you add "@F2b" as an alias. I don't think displaying parts of the messages are important, but just the thread title wold be good..
A "clear" button could also be nice, to "clear" my notifications page of all the read content and wipe it clean..

I still haven't found a reliable VPS, and my old netbook becomes more and more CPU-limited from the things I make it do I don't want to overspend on it, because I want to use it for many years, but I also don't want one that's not reliable. It would also be much more resource efficient to store your data in a database rather than a bunch of files. This will also make it easier to locate/query information when you are looking for something. The above referenced 'cloud' providers also often offer 'always free' database hosting.

Also, I found the post 53343027 in my notification page, and I don't find any occurence of "f2b" in its code, that's weird.
Edit: found out. I think it is because when parsing, the "/" in the image URL became "%2F" or something like that, so "/2b" becae "%2F2b"

I made some changes to my first post, but I'm not sure if that's what's needed for an update.
I scrape this topic for every update. By the time the topic gets too long to quickly scrape, I'll separate the Notification update from the user list update. My To-do keeps growing.Removing your post would end your updates.
Another to-do: only upload a page if something changed.

Do you log IP address of the visitors on the pages?
I'm using shared (cPanel) hosting, and unfortunately, it creates "normal" webbrowser logs. I don't really care about it, and I don't intent to share it with anyone, but unfortunately I don't think I can disable it until I get a VPS.Update: images still go through Bitcointalk image proxy (preventing "tracking pixels").

Retroactive!
I'm now showing notifications for all posts starting 6 hours before Maggiordomo went offline.
I'll wipe notifications older than 7 days, so that gives you a few days to subscribe to my new bot to catch up on anything you missed the past days.
My Notification-bot is now running every 5 minutes. It's highly experimental and far from finished, but should work
