Generally, it is all about self-control.

Responsible gambler knows how to control themselves at all times and always think carefully before making decisions. But sadly, no matter how often we emphasize this kind of awareness, there are still gamblers who lose their control because of their emotions. Yes, excessive emotions especially greed, make it difficult for people to control themselves and most of the time, this is the reason why they fall into addiction.

That is why being a responsible gambler is not as easy as we think due to many challenges that make some gamblers let go of their emotions.

Containing yourself in front of your games is indeed the main point of this activity. Also, before you sit down, you should know the extent of where you are at with your financials so you know how much you can spend for that session and should tell yourself to stop once you deplete that amount.

The great city of God 🔥

2. Avoid Chasing your Losses
3. Gamble for Entertainment, Not Income.
4. Avoid alcohol, drugs and emotion.
All explanation you've made is very important an of a truth I believe all you have said, but mostly this few I have listed above.  I see the no 2 as the more serious and delicate gambling habit that makes people get more addicted more. Emagine losing your hard earned money like $5k to chasing losses,  and you become very angry so you start betting to recover your lost and you end up losing more and becoming more paranoid. This I one of those major reason I dislike chasing after loses.

I guess it's just right that we're reminded of this every now and then.

But all this could be summarized into self control or self discipline, although it also presupposes that one knows and understands what gambling really is. If one is aware that gambling isn't a way to make money, that it can't be treated as a source of income, and one has self control or discipline, he/she automatically understands that he/she shouldn't go too deep into it, that he/she shouldn't overspend in it.
Well said. All those practices mentioned by OP boil down to the idea of having control in all that you do in gambling. Certainly because gambling can be so addictive in all angles.

Don't get carried away with your different emotions, because that will only lead you into frustration and disappointment when all that's happening to you is not according to your plan, but instead set your own limits, know when to stop, otherwise everything will fall into losses until they're no longer manageable anymore and ruined everything in your life.

Setting limits is key whether it’s about money or time, there should always be boundaries because they help keep things in perspective. We shouldn’t just set limits on how much we’re willing to lose, we should also set limits on how much is enough to win. Many people don’t think about this, sometimes we aim to win half of our bankroll. That can be difficult to achieve and before we know it, our budget gradually runs out, leading us to start chasing losses. That’s why, from the very beginning, we should already practice setting limits.
That's true mate. We should know our limits from the very start before we will fall into gambling addiction. This is very crucial most especially in gambling where we don't hold the final outcome, either if it's a loss or win, once control is gone, the end result will definitely be a negative one. Know when to stop when you see your gambling activities are no longer profitable, before it ruined all your bankroll and mess up your life.

True. Some gambling ethics are meant to be reminded every now and then because we humans tend to lose focus or go astray when we make decisions. Since there is no thread that comprises of some gambling topics that are necessary in our everyday lives then i feel it's okay if we get reminded once in a while.

The intense gamblers need countless reminders for them to still get away with addiction. That's where everyone is heading when they don't know what to do anymore trying to chase their losses but seems a failure. It's nothing new to be said of but there's a need for them to calm down for them to be able to reflect on themselves and understand if they're doing the right thing or not. Being responsible is hard but being addicted is harder so, every gambler needs to choose what they want to deal with any kind of hardship.
If you ask me, countless reminders won't work. What they need is the personal assistance of someone who watches over them when they are gambling. My reason for saying this is because I have worked with people who are were addicted to gambling, immediately advised them or reminded them to gamble responsibly, and but the next minute I noticed they are repeating the same old habit because no one was on watch. This made me come to the conclusion that an addict will always be an addict when there is no one to stop them.

Responsible gambling comes from the mind, if we can determined not to get involved in the way others irresponsible ones are gambling and work towards it, then we are going to deduce that we are on the right track over time gambling responsible to the extent we are being proud of ourselves, we may also have to deal with the way of our emotional behavior because this also go in so many ways in determining for the way we are gambling, because its not by only saying it like that, but we may need to act it as well in other to make it more convenient for us to go by all we have set up concerning gambling.

It is easier to fall into addiction if one gamblers alone and in an isolated way.

That's very correct. When you gamble always gambling alone, you're potential to addiction because the sense of "no one would know the habitual act of your gambling which then could lead warrant you to feel relaxed even when obvious to the gambler that his gambling habits is getting out hand.
This is why most addicted gamblers are of those online bettors who've to be privileges to private gambling with their personal devices to access the casinos.
Meanwhile gambling among other could remind you that your misbehavior on public gambling could also spread your misconduct which then could to an extent help you to conduct yourself and gambling responsibly.

It's funny that when you go in a casino physically they'll be so happy to offer you free alcohol.
They know it lowers your cognitive ability and makes you even more impulsive. But this is their goal. With it you will lose everything.

The alcohol to them is cheap compared o getting all your cash. So it's a great investment in that regard.
If you go to the high rollers floor of a casino, you will see young ladies serving alcohol to everyone and grooms going around with platers full of snacks that go well with alcohol. You think it's a luxurious experience but in reality it's just them chattering to you either your own money because it's s tried and tested model, you're gonna lose more than you cost them.

Thankfully online casinos don't shove alcohol in your face yet. So don't do this to yourself if you play online. There's no reason to lose control.

Finally you need to ask yourself some questions frequently:
A. Is gambling affecting my relationships, work, or finances?
B. I'm I spending more money or time than I planned?
C. I'm I gambling to escape problems or stress?
D. I'm I enjoying gambling.
This question should run through our minds frequently because it will help us know what we are really doing and keep us in check.

The issue with addiction and responsible gambling practice is so common, there’s an extend people direct their focus only on gambling and it seems irresponsible though. All what’s listed is correct besides spending more time when it comes to gambling practice is a problem rather gamble the least amount available before thinking of strategy or games. Definitely everyone loves to gamble either for fun or money as usual but, gambling responsible is not just a choice rather a must else for example there’s a difference between addiction and ignorance, some might spend every time gambling yet they’re not addicted meanwhile addicted gamblers spend everything and fail to realize their lose.

Addiction is definitely not a route any gambler should take, it only leads to destruction. If there is an opportunity for people to turn back the hands of clock, I believe many addicted gamblers who have come into realization would want to make use of that opportunity to regain back those loses. Be it gambling for longer time frame or gambling for short period of time with excessive loss both are considered Addiction if it's a repeated habit. However just as you said, it's better to gambler for a longer time frame without losing too much, than to gamble for irresponsibly and loss a huge amount in just a few game that would lead to bankruptcy.

Those are four candid points you just outline above as tips for responsible gambling. Because if only gamblers could adhere to this, there will definitely be decrease in rate of people with gambling addiction. Because apart from that, I think setting a a gambling budget, either daily, weekly or monthly is another good practice to moderating gambling addiction, as this will help you to keep track of your finance when it's judiciously used for things that matters

Whereas, another responsible practice is tip is for you to avoid saving huge sum of money in your betting account when you are not gambling.

Really helpful rips OP, reading through the rips you provided, I see it covering a very broad aspect of unhealthy gambling practices and activities thst could promote it as well, some of our own natural bad habits adds up to the reason we don't get off the gambling troubles, but we rather have to battle them because they are been fueled by our other addictions so in some cases it's even possible one is suffering two addictions, one would be gambling and the other would be with drinks and other Indiscipline, if we can share to some simple principles just like as OP has shared, it will go a very long way helping us all to do better.

Addiction is always difficult to control - even if you know exactly what scenarios to avoid. In theory you are right - but the fact is that many gamblers fail to practice it well and get out of addiction problems. Today you can say that you are responsible for the gambling you start - of course because you are not yet addicted, but if you gamble too often and lose a lot, then you will get into trouble.

Another fact - many gamblers lie to themselves posting publicly that they are not addicted. I don't know what makes them hesitate to reveal their addiction - it's still hard to believe. Something that is done repeatedly is called an addiction in the sense - but it is very wise if they are still able to be responsible and avoid problems.

4. Avoid alcohol, drugs and emotion.

Avoid life?

Some people have the desire to get into adventure and try to make a career out of sports betting...but very few succeed. Just a dumb guess maybe 1 in a million. When someone decides to go that way, it would be wise to turn off emotions and follow all these rules, without all of these there is no long-term success, but it is not for everyone. You have to dedicate yourself to it, and take time for it, not everyone has patience and perseverance... I know I don't.

So we can just have fun with some money we can afford to lose... not everyone wishes to be a pro.

Being responsible in gambling is just being determined to keep your own rules, which is much easier to say than to be done. What I see as very easy is getting addicted when the gambler doesn't have control over what's happening anymore; then they can't control their limit again. It will be like a poison eating them up from the inside. If they don't gamble for a time being, it will be as if some part of them is not complete.

Some addicted gamblers don't even admit that they are addicted, which makes it even harder for someone to render help to them. Even when you notice their gambling behaviour to be outrageous, they will still claim to know what they are doing even when they don't until it has gotten to a stage where they can't hold it anymore; that's when they might eventually speak up.

We would make money from gambling even though it's not going to consistent but it's wouldn't be bad staying safe while gambling.

I’d be thrilled to make money from gambling, but if it’s not consistent, I know I’ll eventually lose in the long run. For regular gamblers, consistency is what we aim for. However, addiction is a completely different matter. We’re all at risk of it if we don’t approach gambling with a mature mindset.

A mature gambler loses money too, but they do so responsibly. They enjoy the process because they incorporate proper risk management, which is a key factor in keeping gambling fun and under control.

Though there are limited numbers of people who can do that but yeah it's possible as long as they are aware with the risk that it takes when they participating inside gambling, like what you have said, mature gamblers or experienced gamblers are basing their actions with how they anticipate the possible outcome, though there's no consistency or any accurate analysis in terms of predicting the possible results though by experienced, experienced gamblers understand the risk if they will not follow certain limitation that they plan to implement.

Having that set limit on both possible profits and acceptable loses, it will allow you to reassess your position and strategy, if it's needed to adjust you have that time execute new one and try if luck will permits you along the way.
I see that some of you guys mentioned in your comments about (consistency)in gambling winning, which is something that is not possible, so taking our minds off making money from gambling is very important and a set mindset before we venture into gambling because being aware of the risks involved and how gambling and how hard it is to win against the house you will know that gambling shouldn't be taken as a way to make money.

The impossibility and inconsistency in repeating gambling winnings is the reason why gamblers make a set limit for their spending both in time and money because whatever you risk in gambling may never come back as returns in profits like it is in other businesses.

These questions make sense, but folks wrestling with a gambling compulsion likely wont give straight answers.  Addiction kind of warps your sense of reality.  Denial can be a powerful force.  Addicts tend to downplay or outright reject how their behavior hurts themselves and others.  Its like asking a smoker if they like the smell of their own smoky breath first thing in the morning.  They will probably say it doesnt bother them because they dont want to admit they have a problem.

Im not saying its impossible to get truthful insights from interviews with gambling addicts.  But their disease could seriously impact their perceptions.  So take any self-assessments with a grain of salt.  The addiction itself makes it tough to even see the harm youre doing sometimes.

Point number one and two cannot be overemphasized, setting a limit for yourself is important so you would stay disciplined and also not ending up with a lot of losses. Have a limit that you don't exceed no matter what , whether you win or lose. This brings me to the second point, chasing your losses is the fastest way to exhaust your bankroll easily. You must learn to control the urge of trying to recover what you have lost by gambling more . This is a sign of indiscipline and it can make you lose a lot of money in gambling. Accept your losses and just move on.

A. No, as long as I am still responsible for any risks, then I don't have any problems. Too much of anything is difficult to control, so so far I'm still within safe limits.

B. No, still within reasonable limits.

C. No, this is done out of full awareness out of a desire to have fun, especially on sports betting.

D. Yeps, I enjoy playing some games like slots, but focus on sports betting.

At least that's the answer I could answer if someone asked me, but fortunately it's a question to ask myself.  Cheesy
