I believe there is a thread similar to this one a user started sometimes ago, same gambling discussions but I don't know ow if the thread is locked now, but when comes to the topic of limits and control in gambling, we can't say that the discussions are old or new Becassine of the need for such discussions to keep gamblers at alert and not to get carried away while gambling.

Setting a limit will help you to manage both your bankroll and at the same time give you time limits to every other activity while gambling.

Normally as good gambler setting up a limit for yourself is actually the best because it will going prevent you from often losses in gambling. As a gambler chasing after losses in gambling is actually wrong decisions because it will going course you more losses in gambling always gamble what you can afford to lose. However I think we should always try as much as possible to maintain a good gambling hapit.

Of course we should always avoid alcohol or drugs whenever we are going to gambling bet office so that to avoid any embarrassment from your fellow gamers.

We can't overemphasize the importance of constantly reminding ourselves about the need for responsible gambling, because it is easy to get carried away and gamble irresponsibly. Responsible gambling is key if a gambler don't want to end up being addicted, which is not good for the body and mind, a lot of harm can come from irresponsible gambling. Self control and discipline are the key ingredients needed to stay responsible anytime that you're gambling, every gambler has to figure out a strategy not to gamble responsibly. I make a budget for gambling and never exceed the bankroll whether I'm winning or losing, it takes control and discipline for me to do it..

All these tips are very good but unfortunately I think that only one gambler out of five can adhere to them and strictly follow them.

The fact is that these limitations work best if they are implemented by the casino you play at and you can set a maximum time or weekly deposit limit. If you rely on willpower most of them end up falling off at one time or another. With responsible gaming features implemented by the casinos it is more difficult to drop out, although not impossible because the degenerate gambler can deposit at another casino and spend it all there. But for people who have a low budget, with their bankroll in a single casino, and with no access or very difficult access to credit, it is a good solution.

All these tips are very good but unfortunately I think that only one gambler out of five can adhere to them and strictly follow them. The fact is that only those gamblers whose needs are fulfilled play for fun. They are well-fed and in their own home, they have money for tomorrow and even for months ahead. There are very few such guys. The average portrait of a gambler is a guy with passion and unresolved problems, who seeks both money and distraction from the worries of the real world in gambling. Therefore, I believe that only 20 percent or even less follow the advice above.

I agree that gamblers should set their limit. I mean the time and bankroll limit. I also accept that gamblers should avoid chasing losses and also that they should see gambling just as entertainment and not a means of making money. But I do not agree that they should avoid alcohol as long as they are not drunk. I am not talking about drugs. Drugs are not good thing at all.

2. Avoid Chasing your Losses

This one is very important, avoid trying to win back the money you have lost, if you want to recover all the money you have lost you will keep losing and that will lead you to depression, so forget about your lose and move forward it will help you to relax with an open mind.

When my bankroll is declining I always try to recover it to at least its initial value but the intense of  my chasing depends on the steepness of its trajectory - the more it decreases the less my price. Doing this I try to prolong my chasing and in many cases my attempts have success. Thus chasing the losses with a appropriate tactics is not so bad in my view.

Finally you need to ask yourself some questions frequently:
A. Is gambling affecting my relationships, work, or finances?
B. I'm I spending more money or time than I planned?
C. I'm I gambling to escape problems or stress?
D. I'm I enjoying gambling.
This question should run through our minds frequently because it will help us know what we are really doing and keep us in check.

Questions like this can reflect the gambler's thoughts to find out whether the gambling activity being carried out is starting to go off track or not. That's pretty good, but gamblers may not always ask themselves such questions.
Some settings may change over time and the more gambling activities we do. It is important for gamblers to also control their gambling so as not to cross the limits that can harm the gambler himself. But sometimes we do intentionally break those limits.

Setting your limits is the important before you playing gambling and always stick to your limits so you will not break the limits of using your money. Yes, stick to it will help you realize that you already set a limit for gambling and you must obey your rules if you don't want to see the problem.

But unfortunately, many people lose their control in limiting their money because gambling tempt them easily and makes them keeps playing gambling. They use more and more money to pursue the winning while they are forget about their limitation in gambling.
I agree with you, in fact, gambling is such an addictive game, where if there is no specific limit, you will not even realize when you have started gambling beyond your means. Because here, many gamblers lose control while gambling, and continue to gamble based on greed and emotion, as a result, they tend to take a lot of financial risks.
Therefore, you have to maintain self-control while gambling, control greed and emotion, and set a certain limit for gambling, and only gamble with the money you can afford to lose.
Therefore, gambling responsibly can greatly reduce the possibility of financial risks for the gambler, and that gambler can also stay away from gambling addiction.

We have seen many topics about this but it's not bad to keep reminding the gamblers about it. Thank you for sharing.

Setting the limits will be the most important part in my own opinion. If you have a set amount to gamble for the day then we must follow it whatever happens. Win or lose. That means we must also set an amount for when we will withdraw in case a win happens.

Chasing losses will not happen if we follow the first rule above.

Gambling for entertainment is also a hard thing to do. If you are playing slots, most of the time, you will get hooked on them, and you might want to keep on depositing over and over again until it's not that fun anymore.

Asking yourself about how gambling is affecting your life is also important. If you think you are crossing the line then I believe that's when we should stop gambling. If you think it's affecting the budget of the family then it should also be stopped or controlled in a way that it won't damage our budget anymore.

But all this could be summarized into self control or self discipline, although it also presupposes that one knows and understands what gambling really is. If one is aware that gambling isn't a way to make money, that it can't be treated as a source of income, and one has self control or discipline, he/she automatically understands that he/she shouldn't go too deep into it, that he/she shouldn't overspend in it.

Exactly this have been one of the major criteria in maximizing gambling practice and at such we ought to keep this in mind at all times, yeah I know having multiple thread as this can be accumulating in the forum but then seeing the post on some regular basis but in different category would always give us a reminder that we should take responsible gambling practice seriously.

I'm still focused on points one, two and three, because those three points are what I think often become a problem for someone when they gamble, initially they don't think of gambling as a means of entertainment but a way to make a profit and people like this tend not to be ready to lose money. then what can happen is that they can chase wins or recover losses and this kind of behavior leads them to addiction and gambling which is carried out with no good boundaries or responsibility.

For people who gamble with the wrong idea, it is very likely that gambling does affect their relationships or finances, but with finances I think there is no need to doubt it because it is definitely affected as well as the time they spend gambling, it is likely that they spend a lot of time gambling because the assumption is wrong.

One of the things I have considered to be a good practice for gamblers who want to be responsible is to talk about one's losses with someone of confidence, like a friend or a family member, not to keep losses as a secret.
No one enjoys talking about their losses. As much as possible they would want to only show or boast their winnings. So it is a lot harder to admit to someone just how much they have lost due to shame and embarrassment. It is typical for someone to hide how much they have spent especially if this affects their life. I assume that it would be a lot harder to admit to your wife that you just spent and lost the money you should have used for your monthly rent.

I guess the closest person you could confide into is a friend that would not judge you but would be able to keep you in track.

It is easier to fall into addiction if one gamblers alone and in an isolated way.
Being alone probably removes a gambler from the reality. They are not aware of their surroundings anymore and they do not realize how gambling addiction has affected their life.

It does not necessarily needs to be one's wife or partner, to be frank, and there is a good reason by it is easier to brag about winnings within the world of gambling than talking about losses, we all as human beings seek the approval and admiration of others and one of the vehicles to get all of it is money, in this case money gotten through gambling.
By talking of our losses with someone we can trust, we can have an "expectator" someone which looks who we evolution as gambler from the outside and tell us whether we are crossing lines which are not supposed to be crossed or Lossing more than we should. In my opinion, isolation is an important part of the development of gambling addiction, since the victims of the addiction cannot tell they have a problem until it has become very serious and harder to manage.
By having a voice to remind us not to gamble recklessly, we can have easier control over ourselves.

Though, I recognize there will be gambler who won't have someone as close to them to admit their losses to, and that is an issue.

Four points of good attitude but it seems for the first point Set Your Limits and also the second point Avoid Chasing Your Losses are the most often violated and forgotten by most gamblers because when gambler has set capital and experiences loss until all his money is gone will think about re-depositing money and chasing the lost in order to get back the lost capital, actions like this will always be side by side to continue to be done by most gamblers out there.
Maybe we ourselves will be able to apply all responsible attitudes with various anticipations that exist but other people may not be able to do it.

Gambling can really affect on relationship especially if you spend to much on it and your partner sees that you can't even make a return from it, wherein you're more on cash in or top up on the platform. Lol
Actually i have friend of mine and now he's playing in secret to prevent argument with his partner and the funny part is that he use me as a sender  through his account and pay cash to me so that he still can play without evidence. Coz if he use his digital wallet for sure he will be caught again.  Grin

Setting limits is key whether it’s about money or time, there should always be boundaries because they help keep things in perspective. We shouldn’t just set limits on how much we’re willing to lose, we should also set limits on how much is enough to win. Many people don’t think about this, sometimes we aim to win half of our bankroll. That can be difficult to achieve and before we know it, our budget gradually runs out, leading us to start chasing losses. That’s why, from the very beginning, we should already practice setting limits.

We have tons of responsible gambling threads and other correlated thing such as this.

Answering up this topic then the most important thing here is:
1. Set your Limits
I think the only way gamblers can be able to set their limits is to first understand that gambling is unpredictable,  if their is no understanding to know gambling is unpredicted it will be very difficult to set limit in gambling. Understanding in gambling helps in applying rules that can help one to be able to manage gambling limit and principles to that can help one to be responsible gambler.  If gamblers are able to understand the uncertainty in gambling how it can be unpredictable it will be very easy to be able to be a responsible gambler.  Understanding makes everything easy in gambling.

I think one sharing those experiences with someone could mean one has some kind of "thermometer" to whether know one is falling into gambling addiction, they other person who cares about one would talk to us about how things would be spiraling out of control and the fact we have lost as much as we had, prompting us onto changing our behavior and adjusting our budget to minimize the negative impact of our sessions.

It is easier to fall into addiction if one gamblers alone and in an isolated way.
