What you said is completely true, I also felt the same way when trying some games like Crash Game and Slots, initially looked good and got big wins,
maybe about 10x of the capital I used, it kept me from stopping and kept playing until eventually returning to the initial capital I used.

And then greed starts to arise and hopes to get a big win with the last capital, use everything and in the end it will only end in defeat.

We are just humans and we are just that emotional beings on which we do able to have these kind of condition on which it is really that affecting us negatively. We cant be always having that  good control towards ourselves on which there will really be those times or moments that you've been that hoping that you can be able to get some positive results at the time that you do gamble, but when the results or outcomes are definitely that showing different on what you had anticipate then this do really just that basically giving out that kind of emotion on which it will be that resulting on being impulsive on which this might that result into such devastation into your gambling career.

The most common problem here is that you dont able to make yourself having that good control towards yourself specially on the losing momentum or situation because usually instead of stopping which gamblers do really even having that hard time on doing that because of emotion unstability on which it will be causing up that kind of consideration in speaking about that losing situation. I think that way too, but sometimes when we're playing it's hard to have self-control, because from the beginning we can be very positive that we're going to master each thing, each step and that everything will turn out well, but when we see it in reality sometimes we get carried away by emotions and it's normal, we're human, it can be avoided, but when it happens to us that we spend too much we regret it and that's what we have to handle the most.

When we spend money that we shouldn't spend, things go wrong, the emotions that we feel sometimes get above reason and that's what leads to addiction and that's what we have to control.

But this control is a problem that occurs quite a lot with everyone who gambles without self-control they always end up miserably, this can indeed be said to be easy to say but to do it is quite difficult because I myself felt it when I first got to know gambling, but now it is very easy to do because maybe I can be consistent with the discipline that I set.

Just because other players make money in a specific game doesn’t mean you will as well and if you are so keen on winning then at least find a game that is based on skills and not luck alone. Lest you will be fighting a useless fight if you keep playing that is luck based to win some money.

I use some of the reasons you mentioned, and I have some personal strategies that I have used to win at gambling and increase my knowledge power. Because I always think that I have to stay away from gambling addiction, but I can win more especially in sports betting. Although in some cases my research goes against me where I face danger and location, I do not bother to recover that money.
 I move on to the next bet, I divide my money into small parts to keep myself calm. I enter the game with as much money as I can afford to lose, if I lose money my balance is exhausted and I immediately exit the game. And I retire I retire three days a week and spend the rest of the days gambling.
