Avalon still making acis miners. Wasn't aware they where still making asics any more. Looking at their cost of equipment and hashing speed and power use is stupidly expensive. 1300watt for 1.3TH can go  grab me an antminer s5 that is 1.1TH and using 500w at most. 1/3rd of the energy use don an avalon machine. If avalon got their act together from being the first to release asic technology and asic miners to reducing theri energy used and then having a good miner they would again have a good miner. Right now their way over priced and way under energy effective

I have to say once again this is really quiet gear.

Yes, and while there is winter it makes a great leg heater Wink

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/--7216

Mine already is, max clocks and still silent (with a fan RPM cap). Quieter than any PSU I can put it with other than an RM1000.

I am going to shift to these over the next month.   run them at 850gh using 480 watts each. and when the summer comes set them to eco mode at 500gh 244watts each.

I will try to see if they are stable with 2 then 3 then 4 units on the rasp pi.

I decided to order today.  So I purchased a second avalon 4.1

valkir   helped me get the demo one and was helpful in ordering a second one today.

I will post how 2 run on my rasp pi.  I hope to  get it some time next week and do a series of photos and tests with 2 running vs 1.

I may order a third one and do a 3 machine set of tests.

I have to say once again this is really quiet gear.

I may end up selling off my sp20s and my s-5 and just keeping 3 or 4 of these for the summer.

Can anybody post what are the settings for "Chip Frequency" and "Chip Voltage" when running in ECO mode?

Furthermore, can "Chip Frequency" be modified at any interval? Is "Chip Frequency" directly related to "Chip Voltage", is there any table for all possible combinations of  "Chip Frequency" and "Chip Voltage" (combined)?

chip frequency is directly related to

chip frequency setting on the custom page
I use 370:360:340
Default is 450:390:370

use custom
Set your volts to 7750
use auto voltage =true.

and then tinker with chip frequency setting  you will get lots of results for frequency. auto volts will find the best volts for that freq.

volts can be set at:
 8250
 8125
 8000
 7875
 7750
 7625
 7500
 7375
 7250
 7125
 7000
 6875
 6750
 6625
 6500

I do all custom settings.  I don't ssh.

I found with volts on auto the software does the work. my current custom setting is :

I get this result and use  480 watts to do it.  this is 480/854 = .562 watts a gh

if I go to custom I get 244 watts and 500gh that is .488 watts a gh .  diff and price does not require me to do eco right now.

Are these setting accurate:

wall power reference(W)     hashrate(GHS)         comment
400                                  800                       echo mode
570                                  1000                       normal mode
950                                  1300                       turbo mode

Assuming they are.  I can run 2 Avalon 4.1s using my Corsair ax1200i power supply at normal mode.   Is that right?

On Normal mode what is the dB at default settings?

Also for reference, what is the dB on turbo mode?

I will be putting these in my office so i want to make sure they are quiet

db should be under 45db.  you will be borderline to do the corsair AX1200i   using custom settings,  the stock settings you have are not accurate.

Now I have the older firmware as I go with if it works  with old firmware don't ever do new firmware until 3 or 4 others show it works.

The firmware I have does eco mode :

  244 watts    and   500 gh

My custom setting does  840gh at 470 watts

so you can do 2 at 1680gh   using 940 watts

settings page

picked custom

my results have been very stable using a rasp pi  older model B

There are no settings to achieve those numbers in the real world with the factory firmware which is:

250W 500GHs eco mode
~650W 1000GHS normal mode
there are some in between frequency and voltage settings for 450W and 500W (not defaults) which give 850-900GHS more info on that in this thread and my review thread
450W 850GHS
500W 900GHS
I have not gotten around to turbo yet will tackle that tomorrow
As for quiet, using either of phils or my settings for 850-900 range you will have guaranteed quiet and even on stock speed its quiet just not as efficient Cheesy

the results below fan is 1100 rpm quiet but if you ssh in and set it slower the unit is still cool enough.

Alternatively you can just set the max fan RPM to 30 [or around there for 1200rpm] if you know ambient is going to remain sensible. Ie don't cap the RPm off then put it in a 50C farm Tongue

Either way, 1100rpm is quieter than a Cube. I've missed this.

I am running my s-5 and the avalon-4.1 In a spare bedroom.  The window is open ½ to ¾ inches.

This gear would really clean up if it could be sold at a lower price point. It is truly quiet the  fan at 15% is under 1000 rpm

The settings I have finished with:

Mining Mode(Default: Customs)---------------------------------------------------------   Customs

Chip Frequency(Default: 450:390:370)------------------------------------------------   360:355:340

Chip Voltage(Default for 4.0: 8125, for 4.1: 8000)-----------------------------------  7250

Automatic Voltage(Default: True)-------------------------------------------------------  True

Fan%(Default: 20%)----------------------------------------------------------------------  15

gave me  this over night    watts are 460-470 at kwatt meter that is  about 0.56 watts

sound meter was 38db to 42 db

This miner actually is a true home miner the sound levels are wife friendly so when all is said and done I can keep these custom settings for now and then keep this miner on stock eco mode for the summer.  Use it to mine solo to keep in the game.

that is 500 gh and 244 watts = .488 watts a gh

yeah with the custom settings of

Chip Frequency(Default: 450:390:370)                      360:355:340
Chip Voltage(Default for 4.0: 8125, for 4.1: 8000)          7250
Automatic Voltage(Default: True)                                      True

the results below fan is 1100 rpm quiet but if you ssh in and set it slower the unit is still cool enough.

I get 840gh use 460 watts  about 0.55 watts a gh and  38-45db with stock fan.  I am done with custom setting tests for efficiency 0.55 watts and 840gh is good enough for me.  Tomorrow I tweak fan settings.
