A good news story. At 30 he isnt a young gun, just goes to show with the right medical
care and personal dedication he was able to get back into the team.

Under the NRL Finals System we have the following four weeks of game play:

Week_one_sees_the_Qualifying/Elimination finals:

  • Storm (assume win)
  • Eagles

  • Roosters (assume win)
  • Titans

  • Panthers (assume win)
  • Rabbitohs

  • Eels
  • Knights (assume win)

Week 2

  • Eagles (assume win)
  • Roosters

  • Panthers (assume win)
  • Eels

Week 3

  • Storm(assume win)
  • Panthers

  • Eagles
  • Knights (assume win)

Week 4 GF

  • Storm
  • Knights

In the above scenario, I'm going to call the Storm over the Knights in the Grand Final.  The Knights making it to the Grand Final is dependent on them winning their game this week.

interesting scenario all based on this weekend. it will be a real close one between
Storm and Panthers if it comes to pass. I have both to win outright.

Gareth Anscombe is finally making his debut for Ospreys. He had to wait a long time for this. He was really happy after signing with them. But he had to wait for a long 29 months to actually play for the team. Well finally after his extraordinarily lengthy injury layoff he is finally fit to play. It's been almost two and a half years since she has played. Well better late than never I guess.

Actually, that's good news for the people in Queensland. But also the outbreak of the COVID-19 in Sydney kind of saddens me. But whatsoever, it will be nice to see the finals hosted in Queensland. The people over there should be pretty excited as it was to be hosted in Sydney but the venue has been shifted to their place. Hoping for a great and entertaining final.

Aside for the issue surrounding all of the teams being based here in South East Queensland (and I'm hearing they may well have to stay here instead of returning to Covid New South Wales) is that for as long as the Brisbane Broncos (and subsequent non NSW teams) have been in the competition, there has been an outcry for the Grand Final to be played wherever the team who won it the year prior.

i.e. Brisbane wins one year, then Brisbane hosts the grand-final the following year.

History will be made when Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium hosts the NRL grand final on Sunday, October 3.
For the first time, the premiership decider will be held outside of Sydney with the NRL announcing this year's match would be played in the Queensland capital due to the COVID-19 outbreak in NSW.

I agree, it was their early season performances which carried them to remain
in the top 8. Storm and Panthers have been very consistent staying 1 and
2 for most of the season and the other 5 have climbed the ranks to get there so
yes The Eels could be seen as possibly the weakest side but will they carry that
losing streak into the finals?

Yeh I agree the Knights are the ones to watch. But in saying that, the Eels have been on a downward trajectory for weeks. The Eels have only managed to stay in the top eight due to their wins in the early part of the season.

Why the small text?

Oh yea it was Australia 0 - 3 New Zealand, to be fair not many teams can win a game against NZ ATM.

League

Yea I have Storm, Roosters and Panthers, Eels are a slippery proposition tough

Parlay? hmm not sure, whats the weakest bet? Knights?

Week 25 of the 2021 Season of the Australian NRL saw the Gold Coast Titan's secure the coveted 8th position jumping two places due to a convoluted points system.

Almost text book finish to the season with both the Broncos and Bulldogs winning their last match before the wilderness of long break.  The Panther's took out the Minor Premiership and seem for all intents and purposes to take out the Major Premiership in a few short week's time.

My picks for the shortened week are:  Storm, Roosters, Panthers and the Knights.

Should I parlay that I wonder?

Rugby Union.

Apparently there was a game of Union on over the week-end... Someone called "New Zealand" won.

... *sigh* maybe next year...

Rugby Union

New Zealand won the Bledisloe cup after winning the second of the 3 matches and
the match yesterday consolidates that.

The All Blacks have retained the trophy after winning Game 1 33-25 and following up in Game 2 with a 57-22 win. The New Zealand side completed a clean sweep with a 38-21 win in Perth.

I had The Roosters to win today, I thought that was going to be a closer game, but not
and so The Raiders lose out on a spot in the 8.

I have Storm and Eels for tomorrow.....fingers and everything else crossed for The Eels.

So we head into be business end of the season after this round.

The Roosters have managed to keep the Raiders out of the top eight tonight (and for the season) with their 40 - 16 thrashing in Mackay (NQ) this evening.  The Raiders season is now over with the top eight being the Storm, Panthers, Rabbitohs, Roosters, Sea Eagles, Eels, Knights and Sharks (who I *think* would remain in the top eight even if they loose to the Storm tomorrow night due to better statistics.

I've just heard on the radio that the NRL-W 2021 season is being deferred from starting in October until early next year due to the Covid situation in New South Wales. (NSW health has just announced that 70% of elegiable residents have now had their first vaccine with the target second dose target due in October - when daily infections are due to be at their peak)

Will post more information on the NRL-W season when I get home in a few hours.

So final round starts tomorrow, round 25 with The Raiders v The Roosters.

All the games have very close odds bar The Cowboys v The Sea Eagles, I have a bet
on The Sea Eagles.

What is really interesting are the odds on The Eels to beat The Panthers! its currently
eels 13.00 v 1.02 Panthers, I think based on the previous post it might be worth putting
a minimum bet on The Eels, 0.01mBtc perhaps.

I'm actually thinking the same thing!  I've just had a look on NitrogenSports.eu and they're up to 11.88, so I've put the minimum 0.03 mbtc on them to win.  I also saw the Coyboys are sitting at odds of 7.89 so I've done a parlay on the two for another 0.03 mbtc with a payout of 2.81 mbtc

My only upset of Round 24 was the Eels win over the Storm, hence my small wager on them over the Panthers in Round 25.

Week 25 of the 2021 season of the NRL kicks off in a little under eleven hours time.

I think the Roosters will hold out against the Raiders, The Storm over the Sharks.  Ordinarily I'd say the Panthers... but you never know...The Knights will ride the Broncos.  The Sea Eagles should hold off a late season surge by the Cowboys.  The Rabbitohs over the Dragons, Auckland over Gold Coast in their clash of the Titans/Warriors and the West's Tigers will further humiliate the Bulldogs.

have The Eels woken up?

I think you were onto something a few weeks back when you posted about the convoluted system for the semi finals how the various ranked teams are paired up against each-other.

The Eels probably feel they need to be paired against whichever team it is on their radar, so they needed a win or two to keep them against their preferred semi finalist match.

Don't be surprised if they (the Eels) win their first semi in a walkover.

No worries Timelord re. Storm losing just really unexpected given the previous run of games.

The Panthers obviously beat The Tigers comfortably, 30 - 16 which puts them now in very
close second on the ladder behind Storm because of their loss.

Last round round 25 sees Storm against The Sharks, they should win that and The Panthers
take on The Eels, thats an interesting and tricky one, have The Eels woken up?

Well the Rabbitohs showed the Roosters how to play Rugby, really thought it was
going to be closer.

Erm... WTF happened to Storm and to the Eels, Storm for letting the Eels slip through
their grasp and the Eels for waking from their slumber?
I lost a bit on that bet.

I'm sorry to read you lost out on that bet.  I've been fairly accurate in my forecasts up until now (althought as couple of times it hasn't gone to plan).  The Eels did have a good start to the season and they are still at fifth spot on the ladder, so it isn't like the Bulldogs scoring an upset win.

At half time in the game between the Panthers and West's Tigers the score is 12 - 6

I don't imagine the Tigers will claw their way back into the lead.

Rabbitohs in a close match over the Roosters

The Rabbitohs have won 54 - 12 against the Roosters who must be smarting by their 42 point pounding  ( a not so close game ).

Canberra also lived up to my expectations and gave the Auckland Warriors a thumping with their 28 - 16 "closer" fixture.  I haven't checked out the match highlights, however, Canberra has cemented its place in the top eight in eigth place behind the Knights.
