Isn't the Isle of Man supposed to be big into bitcoin soon??  They'll have relaxed laws and such allowing companies/businesses to work out of there, no?

At laest that could be good future potential no?

this is old news.  Btw, I thought btc-e is based in Bulgaria, not Russia.

Cyprus now, I think.

oih cyprus home of the bucketshop forex brokers.. not safe

Funny that they are the only long standing exchange that hasn't screwed me. In fact, when they were hacked and my bitcoins were stolen they gave them back.

Probably because if they do go under so does bitcoin for the medium term and that would hurt them even more.

China will follow it? If yes, then the price will be bad.

Wasn't Deepbit in Russia? Maybe the legal landscape is why they flaked out? Tycho hasn't been around in a year.

In my opinion, the reason why Russia discusses a bitcoin ban is btc give a possibility to transfer assets overseas conveniently and secretly for people who concern about the currency devaluation.

when I hear this news it makes me think their Government must be planning on buying some, at least as a hedge.

price is low I don't see the price being affected by this even though there is a large Russian contingent involved in mining etc.

The only part that I would be sad about would be the potential shutdown of btc-e.  That seems to be the easiest exchange to work with, and it would be a bummer to see it shut down because of a law like this getting implemented.

They don't think it's a problem: http://www.coindesk.com/btc-e-concerns-russian-criminal-investigation/

It is a ploy to reduce price so they can buy them all up with their worthless fiat. But smart money seems to be getting in ahead of them so they will end up buying above $500usd anyways. Seems governments are starting to see there is a race to get into bitcoin JUST IN CASE it does do what every smart person in the world that is not in government says it will end up doing.

Hey I have read that Bitcoin is illegal in many countries. Could someone please explain why ? As to what threats it possesses that governments like Russia plan to ban it !

Countries like Russia only really enjoy things if they're illegal. I'm now convinced that everyone in Russia is gay since they declared a ban on LGBT rallies.
