You should use the placeholder attribute when people choose their name to register so the "Player" goes away when they type their name.

Not sure what you mean. The account is credited as soon as someone clicks on the link. You'd get temporary username, which you can change later on (or not).
If you click and close the window and never come back, I assume the credited BTC are gone.

Preloaded link is for one time use. So you'd need to create multiple links with the same settings.
